rent it first...some people love it and others hate it. That and its really short in my opinion, not as long as oblivion.warz989
lol well duh its not as long as oblivion, bioshock is not an rpg. so if ur gonna compare it to rpg's then its short, but as far as shooters go, its about one of the longest. if u dont play on easy and dont rush through the game, u should atleast get around 20 hours out of it. im playin on hard and i explore every part of each area, and ive probly put about 22 hours into it, im gettin towards the end, but its not a short game. comparing the length of a shooter to the length of an rpg, especially a really long rpg like oblivion, is just stupid. oh and bioshock is an amazing game. one of my top 5 of all time

Ok we know who the bioshock fanboy is.
btw this game shouldnt even be classified as a shooter because when you compare it to other shooter games like halo, call of duty, gears of war, and vegas...its terrible. Dont tell me its the longest shooter either, because clearly you havent played gears of war on insane, call of duty 3 on veteran, and call of duty 2 on veteran. Ive also heard that vegas realistic is long as well. This game is more of a rpg LIKE oblivion than anything else even though its ranked as a shooter.
Bioshock is a great game its short if you plan to play through ut just doing the objectives. But if you want to explore and try and find all the weapon upgrades and so on. Its most likely going to last 20+ hours.
But that said its one of the best stories I've played through in the 360.

I agree 100% I went from playing Oblivion to play Bioshock and it seemed wicked short and lacking. I still think it's a very fun game and it just needs a little more.

wow, I haven't heard of a 100+ FPS... but you're the boss.
---------------------------------------------------------------
To the original poster, the game is really good. Graphics are amazing, Gameplay awesome (setting a person on fire rulez), exploring the creepy enviroments is really fun. Upgrades for weapons are good, plasmids are extremely fun and useful, weapons are varied and the upgrades are awesome. All in all is a pretty incredible game.
If I had to compare it to a game I would say It has a RE4 feel, because of the creepy monsters and the explorable environments.

yeah im a fan of bioshock. and yes as a matter of fact ive played gears on insane, and i know it doesnt even come close to 20 hours. if u just run through bioshock then its not really that long, but thats not how its meant to be played. and no this game is not more like an rpg than a shooter, it has rpg elements but its still a shooter at heart. and its still really stupid comparing the length of a fps to an rpg. and i didnt say it was the longest, i said it was one of the longest. learn to read
ok only played demo its amazing so here is my thoughts
storyline : never played game so dunno
graphics : 10/10

Why is it stupid to compare an fps and an rpg with similiar elements? If it was a straight up codor gears type shooter you wouldnt be doing puzzles, taking pictures, collecting a sizeable amounts of upgrades, ect. And wait isnt all stuff i just mentioned part of oblivion (rpg) or similiar? So clearly a comparison can be made between bioshock and a rpg. FPS typically dont involve magic either mind you or PLASMIDS as they refer to them in the game...but an rpg does....

bioshock is not a pure rpg. oblivion is, it has side quests, bioshock does not. bioshock has rpg elements, but it is not a pure rpg game. of course oblivion is gonna be way longer. it is stupid comparing the length of oblivion to the length of bioshock, but u obviously dont get it

YOU CAN NOT COMPARE A "PURE" RPG GAME TO A FPS GAME WITH "LIMITED" RPG ELEMENTS. This is especially when in comparison for the total length of a game.

thank u, someone knows what theyre talking about

What's pure by your definition because its quite a broad one. One cant just break things down to "pure" and "limited" when talking about a hybrid game such as this. But if thats how you want to play it, this game was "pure" garbage in terms of lengthand "limited" in terms of replay value. Its hard to understand when your a "fanboy" as you claimed earlier because your so devoted to loving the game and looking past all the negative points and comparisons. Your fighting MY opinion so ardently because you are a "fanboy" just like this other kid talking about "pure" and "limited".
Bioshock is probably my favorite game....ever.
It's not perfect but it is extremely fun. And really its kinda goofy and I shouldnt have to...but to people that say it's too easy here's what I do when I die. I reload my last save. That way the enemy health and everything else is back to how I think it should be, and it makes it not quite as easy.
Here are the CONS of it imo
1. It is not a huge open world. It's fairly linear. There is still a lot to do and plenty of things to find. There is an arrow that you can use to direct you wherever you need to go. That's ok with me but it should be turned OFF instead of on by default.
2. The way the enemies keep the amount of damage you've inflicted on them when you "die" does make it too easy and I shouldn't have to reload my game every time I die to make it more challenging for myself.
3. Whenever I get the diaries the voices aren't matching up very well with the subtitles. The subtitle will disappear a lot of the time and they arent done talking.
4. When I go to load my game It's hard to tell which game was my last save point. I'll save the game, go to reload my save and it wont always be the first one on the list. It just seems to randomly jump all over each time I go to load it.
Thats all I can really think of at the moment. None of those cons to me are big detractions from what is otherwise, like I said, probably my favorite game of all time. My other favs are FF VII, Resident Evil 4, Ico and Myst that I can think of right now...Bioshock I think is right there with any of them.

oh no u called me a fanboy, what do i do now? my life is over...pfff like i care what some stupid kid says about me. and im not gonna argue anymore, i really dont need to, i think all the reviews of the game speak for it. oh and if a game is a fps/rpg then its not a "pure" rpg. sorry i just didnt think u were that stupid...guess i was wrong
it has one of the best stories I've ever seen, and that's not an exaggeration. Plus it's a technical showpiece, is long and varied enough to maintain interest, has a deep philisophical component, and is just plain fun to play. The guardian big daddy/gatherer little sister mechanic is one of the most creative things I've seen in ages... it's a smart game on so many levels, I'd be surprised if it wasnt in the race for game of the year. It's got the emmergent gameplay and morality of Deus Ex, only Bishock is fresher and BETTER overall, and that's high praise.
Why must every game be compared to oblivicrap...Cmon oblibomb wasnt even morrowind..Cant compare morrowind the best rpg on the market to a fps...It redefines fps, its a fun version of one...Why should every fps game out there be compared an be like gears of war???Give me a break dude...Oblivicrap was so easy my grandma can lvl up in it...It lacked what real rpgs are about...So dont even go there...
Its like talking about World of warcrap to everquest...Everquest blew wow out of the water...Why because wow is dumbed down for people who cant think...
Lets just say Bioshock as short as it may be..Is one of the best in its class in a very long time...Its up there with wolfenstien...Oh wait your to young to remember how good wolfenstien was..Every thing to you must be based off the easiest game of all time oblivion...So please stop just stop...Stop comparing good games to oblivion...
9-10 for Bioshock Game of the year as i like to say Nuff said..
Why do you keep calling me stupid bro, grow up, name calling is for 5 year olds...its my opinion about a game

lol u called me a fanboy, isnt that name calling?

I'm not trying to start a fight with you, but there is no way Oblivion can be compared to Bioshock in terms of length. Oblivion main pro is its side quests (over a hundred, but I may be wrong), while Bioshock is a pretty linear game with the exception of a few side quests. Yes, Bioshock as a FPS is not very exciting and action-packed when compared to a game like R6V, and I see how you are comparing the two games, but Bioshock's mostly linear gameplay prevents it from ever being classifed as an RPG.
