last gen graphics? are those ps3 fans reviewing the game? definitely they are._JPH_
yeah the GamesRadar mentions it. First he says: "The only problem is that Ninja Gaiden 2 looks just like Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the PS3 with barely any improvement in graphics"
and at the end he says: "..If you're in this group, there's no reason why you won't love Ninja Gaiden 2, despite its faults. You don't care about next-gen graphics, level design and fairness, right?"
:?
I don't know about Sigma..so for anyone that played it, does it look "last-gen" to you?
plus 90% of that review is complaints about the difficulty

Sigma does look "last-gen" in some spots but NG2 defiantly looks better.
NGII
NGS
The animations and effects are also alot more impressive in NG2 but that's pretty hard to capture in screenshots

Can't see the pics here, but I right clicked/opened two of them and they obviously don't know what they're talking about:?
Well, if they took off points for frame rate issues and then the retail version doesn't have that, I sure hope they update their reviews. As for the camera, I can't say I had much problems with the NG1 camera, so if this one is even slightly improved, them i'm happy.
Also, if they say it loko like Sigma, they need to get their eyes checked, IGN said there are spots where the scenery is just phenominal... how can these developers be so different in reviews?... it's because it's too hard for them, the reviewers review the first level and cant get passed that... lol
I'm still buying this game on release day.
Im shocked by the many contradictions in those reviews. Some praise the graphics, and others say it feels "last gen". same for the difficulty. kinda wierd if you ask mekillerfist
Action games always get strange reviews. Same for DMC4. An 8.7 from IGN though, count me in. Now I just have to wait to go pick up my preorder.

Same here, and anyone who complains about the camera should read this.

i totally agree with the gamesradar review, tomonubu itagaki is such a bastard.
who the hell does he think he is? wearing those sunglasses indoors like hes the kewlest dude ever.
they should record a vid of him getting destroyed at his own game and smashing the tv with his head, fracturing his skull and rendering him a vegetable for the rest of his days
that'll show him
spencertaylor
Don't hate on the man because he's the epiptany of badassery!! Everyone knows that Itagaki develops games for hardcore gamers. He develops games for people that are willing and able to invest the time and effort in learning the combat system. Besides, making the argument that the game sucks because of the difficulty is childish since every aspect of video games is objective. Some might see this game to be hard others might want a harder challenge. The fact that he can't beat the game himself is also illogical since he probably doesn't play the game during development because he is DESIGNING IT!!. Now if he was a game tester then I could understand your calm but as is; it makes as much sense as gamesradar does in its review.

If every game on the market was easy and 'just for fun' then the gaming industry would never have a challenge. I for one LOVED the challenge of NG1, and at first i was ready to break my ocntroller. I year later I picked it up and destroyed it. Then i did a second run through and beat it onyl dying 3 times total, and THAT if you ahve not done so, is a HUGE accomplishment and it really feels like i've achieved gaming excellence.
Skimping on the difficulty so that gamers who are not as talented can beat it, is basically a cop out, and i think he deserves praise for being able to design a game that is challenging, but still possible. It's tough, they can easily make a game impossible, but to make it damn hard and still beatable is a feat on it's own.
Wow, Ive have not heard this much whining ever over a game's difficulty. This game's review is going to turn into an Assasin's Creed affair. The lowest of the range will probably be 7 and the highest a little over 9. When reading the lower reviews I wish I could just post in a comments section something like "Waaaaa, Waaaaa, I want to play NG without any consequences for failure. I just want my health bar to always charge back up and I also want the enemies to just take my beatings. I also want the camera to do all of the work for me!!" It seriously sound like a 5 year old who has good writing skills.
These issues were also in the first NG. I never had any problem with the camera. During the fight I would reposition it frequently to determine my next attack. Since the camera was free(not locked) it worked very well. There is really not much issue to be had here. The graphics look beautiful with the art style with a high/smooth frame rate.
This game shows were gaming has come with the new styles of death/consequences. It has spoiled gamers to become lazy in playing with minimal input. These guys need to remember your reviewing an action game that is really more like a fighting game system. You have to plan your movements and attacks. Think about your attacks in three steps because 2 of 3 may screw up. If these reviews let people add comments I say post your feelings about these "diaper gamers".

I still just can't believe that GamesRadar review lol I'm pretty sure that review is not written by someone fimilliar with Ninja gaiden or Beat 'em ups in general:?
That review is gonna make me sleep bad tonight:cry::P

sigma looks like NG 1.5 in HD. which isnt a bad thing because the graphics can hold their own, and i think that NG2 looks a little bit better than Sigma so i wont be complaining on the graphics department
I have played the first NG, NG Black and Sigma and I have to say I am dang excited for NG2. These reviews for the most part are just a bunch of people who cant suck it up enough to actually play these types of games for what they are which to me is hard grueling fun - well until you get the hang of it in which case they are just dang fun - I remember when NG came out I rented it and got my butt handed to me on a silver platter yeah it pissed me off but it also was intriguing because I hadn't had that much fun and difficulty playing any game - except for the star wars games for SNES but we wont get into that :P - which is why I came to love this series. Don't get me wrong I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I also don't think you should trash talk a game. There are lots of games I own that I had fun playing and still enjoy even though they got crap scores. So my advice to everyone is that if you see a game that looks interesting buy it or rent it don't just look at scores on the internet...
With that said I CAN'T WAIT for NG2!

Well said man and I completely agree. However i think gamers nowadays are spoiled because games have gotten much easier since the NES, SNES days. When a hard game comes around, most people b**** and whine because they can't beat the game and get their butts handed to them. I especially welcome the challenge and can't wait for NG2.
I love how reviewers gripe about dumb AI yet when its smart enough to beat them, they start complaining about difficulty.
Edit: I do agree about most games these and how easy they are, I think of it like this. The more harder a game is the more satisfying it is to beat it, when someone thinks its too hard, it doesn't essentially mean its hard for everyone else.
i personally think i am going to like the camera angle maximizing the awesome action in this game (like IGN said it did) i like that and the harder the better....but I'll still hate those ghost fishies no matter what.lilxharleyxbro
yeah the ghost fish are a bit annoying but very easy to beat with the Vigoorian Flails. Plus the Ghost fish are very easy money (yellow essence) in some parts of Ninja Gaiden.
[QUOTE="lilxharleyxbro"]So after watching that video review i want to get that game even morelolkie_81
Same here the combat looked awesome. I could have done with some platforming tho. It is a way to change the pace
Yeah I agree, even though you had to line up the platforming jumps sometimes by going into first person view, that and the puzzles provided a nice change of pace. That's why I was a little disappointed that pretty much all puzzles had been removed in Sigma trade of for example a bossfight. Sure some of those puzzles were a little frustrating but some were a bit fun and you got the chance to calm yourself down a little and get ready for the next fight.
We didn't post a review yet because there were some load time and framerate issues with the review build discs. We decided it would be best to wait for a retail build to see if these issues were in fact isolated to the review discs only in order to give the game a more reflective overall review.
I guess other sites just decided to go ahead with their reviews without worrying about it...
Wow.. just wow..
Ive been playing black again too on the core right nowNice video review. I bet a thousand bucks Gamespot will give this game the merits: Oh Snap! and Brutal :P
I'm actually popping in the original right now to prepare for NGII.

I lost Black. I'll rebuy it when a good one comes on eBay though. I've been replaying the original as of today again. Started on Hard. Need to get back into it though. I've died several times already facing Murai. But I'm getting the hang of it again quickly. Bet I can beat him now.
Man, I want to get back to my top skills. Not like I'm a God or anything it's just really satisfying to breeze through the game on Very Hard and keeping in mind it's one tough *** game.

You should go back to reading your corny Harry Potter books then.
.
Apperently, they main issue with the game seems to be the 'punishing difficulty', even though NG2 was confirmed easier then the previous game and Black. So that's kind off a lame excuse to me. Also, they point fingers at the graphics which seems to be 'last gen' as they describe them. They also have some problems with the camera.
I don't really think this is credible though. As the reviewer said he was frustrated with the game. Seems to me like he isn't very good at it and trashes it because of that. Since it's nearly identical to the first game (which is a good thing) gameplay wise, I can't really see what could have gone wrong here.
I say it's not a credible review.
Ayessua
Oh jee wizz. The game is not THAT hard! It's freakin challegning, sure, but it isn't impossible.
looks sick! The gameplay looks even more fluient this time. and you can charge your arrows now?:okillerfist
Yeah, you can max essence distance attacks now. IGN said that in their review. Apperently some arrows can be charged to explode opponent's heads on impact or something like that. Seems to me like it's just a harder way of using Explosive Arrows. But other distance attacks can be used with max essence as well.
