i can't decide wether or not to get this game. I am huge fan of action games they are my faves, but this game's difficulty seems intimidating. I would like to think i am a hardcore gamer, and i reached halfway through son of sparda mode in DMC4 before i lent it to a friend, never was really that stuck. Do you think this game will be too hard or should i get it?iloverikku11

The demo section felt a lot easier than any level in the previous games, then again you start off with level 3 upgraded weapons, but you seem to take a lot less damage from the enemy attacks and you can kill them almost instantly now thanks to the obliteration techniques and the rebounding health meter definitely helps to. So get it if you're into action games that provides you with a good amount of challenge and takes a while to master, otherwise I advice to look somewhere else but seeing that you seem pretty decent at DMC even though those games are a bit different from NG I think this game won't be of any trouble to you.

Someone's mad it's a 360 exclusive. Don't worry. One day you will leave school and get a job. If you get a job that pays well you will be able to afford more than one console. Once you own all consoles exclusives stop making you angry. Haze, Heavenly Sword and Lair are obviously the exceptions. Anyone who pays hard earned money for those pieces of crap will be very angry.

@ x-2tha-z: nothing to be proud about, indeed, but I will get the game when it come out (already preordered it), just want to have a taste of it sooner because I'm a big fan of a series and I can't wait, believe me, I own all NG games except Black(have no xbox) and the NES ones (lost them a long time ago)

Your a joke.. the NG gameplay is perfection, no action game is even close to as good as NG's gameplay.

Its obvisouly much to hard for you to play it...

Getting the game on tuesday after my docters appointment, goign to play all day and some of the night and then i have some surgery on wednesday, so i wont be able to play it for a few days hehe. The game looks so awesome though, cant wait!

I dont care about a demo at all! Only a few days before the real game! hehe

kozzy1234
Hope everything goes ok for you. But I can think of no better way to get immersed and totally forget a pending surgery than to kick butt all day with NG2.

to x-2tha-z :

the story of NG is no way a good one, really, it is worse than that of other normal action games like DMC, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted blah blah.., let alone game with top story like MGS, FF, Kotor, Bioshock and the likes. I mean, throughout the series, what can you tell me about Ryu ? I've played every single NG including the NES games (a long long time ago, when NES was still popular), Sigma, Dragon Sword and NG2 (this is a little hard to believe but I've actually played through the first 6 levels of NG2, currently in level 7, you don't have to believe me if you don't want to) and, I keep hearing the same thing about Ryu over and over: He's a member of the Dragonlineage, head of Hayabusa ninja clan(while his father is absent), and a super ninja, that's it, after all these NG games, nothing can be told about Ryu's personality. In a game he speaks about 10 lines, all we heard from him other than that are his battlecries. The plot of NG is lame, really.

And I found NG DS and NG2's stories are even worse than Sigma/Black's story, NG DS and NG2 basically have the same story structure: in DS, you go from places to places to collect DarkDragonStone, each level is one stone. In NG2, you go from places to places, this time not DragonStone but for killing archfiends. This type of story makes the game's mission very linear and predictable, which is, again lame.

But then again, this is just my opinion :D

Bennhoc
on the flip side to much story can kill gameplay for me. For instance, I am in no way interested in watching/playing MGS4, why? because I don't care to sit thru 60 min cutscenes, if I want to watch a movie, I will watch an actual movie. An overdone story ruins gameplay for me because by the time a 60 min cutscene is done it kills gameplay for me and then I don't care. MGS4 will be half gameplay and half cutscenes. I play games to actually play games not watch them.

hehehe, no doubt man and thanks for the kind words ;)

Cant wait to play this game!

And everyone complaining needs to relize that nto every game needs an amazing story.

Story and atmosphere are two of my fav things in games... but i NEED a good story in RPGS and thats it.
I can look over a average story in a game like Ninja Gaiden because its got some of the best gameplay thats ever been released.

I´ve played ninja gaiden now for 2days and I am at the 8th chapter!

The game is everything you expected! IT IS COOL AS HELL!

I love everybit of this game! All the blood and monsters, the fighting system, the cool videos! The only thing that i can complain about is the story in the game! BUT WHO CARES WHEN EVERYTHING ELSE IS SO EXTREMlY funny!

It is a much improved version of the first game!

You know what pisses me off about you? let me tell you ight,

1. You log on to our forum.

2. You trash talk a game we are excited about.

3. You think your opinion is the only one that matters.

4. You think we actually care what you have to say? HAHA

5. You are prolly still mad that you got your A$$ kicked in the first game.

So, in conclusion shut up we don't care if you don't like the game. thats fine if you don't, but you alos don't hear us talking crap about something you like so keep it to yourself. Act like an adult not a small spoiled child

Come to think of it, I barely recall NG has any story to it. Basically he was out to get the dark blade back and that's it. But I have never thought of it when I was playing it. I would say it provide good variety of envirnments and enemies. Really good mix of puzzle, exploration, and combat. The gameplay kick ass. And I have never felt bored with it one bit. Somehow I have never thought about story when playing.

DMC4 on the other hand, great story and cut-scene. But I don't like the gameplay one bit. Ignore the extrememly repetitive gameplay, I still don't like it one bit. After I beat it, no more second play for me. (sorry if I bashed DMC)

Anyway, if you want story, play DMC4. If you want good action, play NG, or NG2 since I haven't get NG2 yet.

magicalclick

DMC4 is a great action game as well though. NGII is the king of the area, I agree to that. But DMC4 is in close second definitely. The setting in the game is great and better worked out then NG. The story is better, the characters are better and the cutscenes are just plain awesome. The whole vibe around the game is cool. The action is less good then NG but it's very spectacular and awesome. It's also solid gameplay.

Though NGII beats DMC4 in gameplay, it doesn't take away of DMC4 that it's a great game as well. They are just different. I enjoyed DMC4 a whole lot. I actually still play it every now and then.

I'm a DMC hardcore player, finished all the 4 games in all dificulty modes with S ranking on everything and stuff like that. And I'm really excited for NG2, I really hope it's hard, because from what I have seen, the gameplay is insane xD! (I only had ps1 and ps2 so I never played any of those previous NG games >_>, NG2 will be my first one :p)

Anyways... tomorrow's the big day! I don't remember being this excited for a game since DMC3, and DMC4 :p

Really? I'm like you man. I played DMC first too. But NG is on a higher level gameplay-wise though. The gameplay is so damn awesome that it alone makes you rate it above DMC. DMC is in a close second though, everything other then gameplay is better in those series.

haha if you like me I like you :P

yeah I saw many videos of NG2 and it just stunned me =O and all the DMC x NG discussion really caught me =3

I don't really care about action games' stories (only rpgs)

Yep I actually think the game has a faster pace, and more weapons, and more blood =D! The gameplay must be a cut above DMC4 but since I'm a fanboy ( :P! ) a couple of things will keep making DMC my favorite xD! (No character has such an awesome personality and looks like Dante :P!)

Actually they are different games, from what I saw, NG is more about killing your opponents as fast as you can without being hit, throwing blood everywhere which is awesome :D!
And DMC is more about looking good while kicking ass, and humilitate your enemy xD! (I seriosly love the combo bar XD!)

But then again... WOW! I can't freaking wait =) There aren't many action games like this :D Last one I can remember was um... God Hand (PS2) maybe? I also loved God Hand to an enormous extent :p

ya I'm a hardcore game player xD!

Though I do think every game needs a "really easy almost retard/anyone with 2 thumbs can finish this game" mode so everyone could play and not use the stupid "it's too hard" excuse... if the game plays well than it can be as hard as it can be! Unless it has really crappy controls or is glitchy... then it's just damn annoying. But of course... they need a few more dificulty levels for us hardcore gamers right? ;)!

Just one question, I really like survival/arcade modes (Like Bloody Palace on DMC) or something like that, that will make me coming up for more instead of just going through the same stages all over again, does NG2 have something like that? if it doesn't I don't care, but if it does WOHOOO! (I think that was the "mission mode" in NGblack?)

It's like the other discussion around COD4 vs Halo 3
I have both games, and love them almost equaly
while COD4 seems to have a little superior gameplay I like halo 3 better because of it's epicness (is that a freaking word? XD), and master chief's awesomeness (Like him being very tall, strong, fast, bla bla bla). =)

Like NG and DMC they can be compared, but not much directly since they have different gameplay elements, what one can't do the other can, they complete each other =p

Yeah, I thought NGII had Mission Mode again. The one in Black was amazing. Fighting your darker self. That was just OMFG awesome.

And yeah, I totally agree NGII and DMC4 being different types of games. I love DMC also. Like I posted in another thread: If I was honest I would have to pick NG as my favorite but in the end it remains a decision like choosing between your two kids.

usually when a game gets a lower score than expected i get kinda bummed but w/ ng2 im just more pumped. the gameplay vids are amazing and even though the video reviews rip on the game, they still make it look amazing just by showing it.

yea you get to fight against Ryu's doppelganger through the game several times(on hard and above I believe) and in 5 missions. one mission is against two fiend Ryu's at the same time! lol not the hardest missions but it can be pretty intense. you should pick up NG: Black if you're a fan of the genre/series for sure

see below for a video of that 2v1 mission

Ninja Gaiden II is actually pretty fun.

The achievements seem to easy though. Every time I pull off a new combo...."ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED"...

I'm like saying to my self..."**** OFF"!!!

I'm tired of the pop-ups already!!

Just because you don't have something does not mean other people don't have it.

Think before speaking.

So what does everyone think of the NG2 demo? I liked it. It was longer than I thought it'd be. I was surprised they included the claws (Falcons Talons) in the demo. It was far too easy though. I thought path of the warrior would unlock after a run through on acolyte but it didn't.

I can't wait until I get the full game. I'm hoping my pre-order comes on Thursday.

It said on Major Nelsons blog last night it was going up at 2am PT this morning. I downloaded it last night from the Japanese marketplace. It was region blocked (I live in England) but the block was removed last night.

EDIT: I just checked MN's blog again. Turns out he jumped the gun. It might still be available from the Japanese MP. The demo is really easy though. I wish I hadn't played it.

LOl ,all games have some easy achievements . There not all that easy, dont come on here acting like they give them away for just pressing buttons. You got 1 or 2 easy achievements and want to brag.......

well actually there is about 10 achievements for doing basic combos, worth 5 each, but i do agree that it has very hard achievements too. Also does anyone know what the secret achievements are? I will get the game regardless, but just curious.

Looking over the achievement list, NG2 will not be easy for achievements. First off, there is 100 point achievement for each of the four difficulty levels and secondly, there is an achievement for completing the game with each weapon. There are eight weapons, so lets say you complete the game on all four difficulties and you use a different weapon with each play thru, you still have 4 weapons to complete. So, the minimum to complete Ninja Gaiden 2 is 8 count them 8 complete playthrus. Thats not an easy task, very challenging even for the NG veterans.

2 of those playthroughs on the hardest setting which makes it even more difficult. Now when you say beat it with a certain weapon, does that mean the ENTIRE game or just the end boss, because if thats the case, you can reload your save and beat them with a different weapon, seeing as once an achievment is unlocked, it is unlocked forever...

I am not sure, but it seems to me that an achievement requiring you to "complete the game only using the Dragon Sword" or "complete the game only using the Lunar Staff" will not unlock if you switch weapon before the last boss battle, right?

ninja gaiden sucks , overated game with crap story , game play is boring tktosc666

im sorry, but im going to have to agree. i played sigma and i was honestly disapointed with the controls/gameplay/absolutely no storyline or purpose to the game. Sure, it was cool to do 10 combo's, but, after that, the game isn't much more.

Hopefully NG2 will improve on their original concept and make a better game.

Hmm, well that would really suck to get all that way, to accidentally slip and press the weapon change button, only to lose that achievment... seems a little odd.. you'd have to pretty much tape off that portion of your controller. lol.

On another note, i live in canada and can not find this game anywhere in stores. it IS released today is it not?

Im not sure what to think. I think I was expecting to much. The new weapons are cool but it still feels just like NG. With out a decent story, no where really to explore, I think I will get board quickly as I have played ng, ngb, and sigma to death. I will have my copy tomorrow, I was going to buy it no matter what anyway's.

I also was not impressed with the graphics, I not sure if it even looks better than sigma.

Strange how the game finally gets its score and the forums are quiet.
