The 360 Recommendation Thread - What Game Should I Get? *56k* (Updated 13/06)

Battlestations midway,Beatiful katamari,Bioshock,COD4,C&C3,Condemned,Crackdown,The darkness,Dynasty warriors 5,Oblivion,Enchanted arms,Eternal sonata,GTA4,Halo 3,LOTR:BFME2,Lost odyssey,Mass effect,Saints row,Tom clancy double agent,and Viva pinata are all games that i currently own.

I'm wondering which games should i get? Only games i don't like are racing and sports. I have around $170 and will be have a $120 budget every month for games so just list all of the games that are great or good bargain games you think i should own.

Dead Rising is a glaring omission from your list, and Civilization Revolution is also very good. If you liked Dynasty Warriors, there are plenty of games in that vein (DW6, Bladestorm, etc). You could also try Alone in the Dark, which I believe comes out soon.

Yes games i'm already getting are BF:BC,Civilization revolution,UT3,and i'll probably pick up Dead rising. Thank you for your help and i'll be getting DW6 after it drops in price. Alone in the dark will be a game i'll purchase after i try it next month and of course if i like it.

Personally, I'd go for Dead Rising, but hen I don't particularly like shooters. If you're looking for multiplayer, go for one of the first two, as Dead Rising is only single player. If you're looking for single player, Dead Rising is the best choice by far.

Bomberman Live is, as far as I'm aware, still played online. The people on there, last time I went on, were superhuman in terms of reflexes though. They kept on killing me, while I kept accidently blowing myself up. Still, it's a good game.

As for other XBLA games, you can't go wrong with Puzzle Quest, the Sonic games, Castlevania, Street Fighter (if you like Street Fighter), Carcassone, E4, Zuma, Geometry Wars: Evolved or Assault Heroes. Definitely check out the demo's before you buy them though, to make sure it's your kind of game.

And Oblivion DLC - Shivering Isles is obviously the best, as it's a full-fledged expansion. Knights of the Nine is alright, and all the others probably aren't worth it.

If it helps, my current 360 games are CoD4, Halo 3, Rock Band, The Orange Box, Assassin's Creed, and the freebie. I didn't really like Assassin's Creed from ultra-repetitiveness, and the freebie from seemingly better things to do with my 360.

Second question; instead of one of the top 2 overalls, should I get Mario Kart Wii instead of one of them? I know this is a board for 360, but I have the cash, and I want to get sufficient bang for my dollar here.

Well, Bioshock is, for most people, a rent. You probably won't want to replay it after you finish, but it is definitely one of the best games in your list. Grand Theft Auto is definitely worth getting, and the sheer amount of things you can do in it should keep you amused. I thought Gears of War was pretty bad, except for the graphics, and the multiplayer has been easily surpassed by games like Halo 3 and COD4. I haven't played Mario Kart Wii yet, but if it's anything like the rest then it'll boring to play on your own and great to play with friends.

If I were suggest two games you should get, I'd go with GTA4 and Ninja Gaiden 2/Mario Kart Wii (and maybe rent Bioshock). Bioshock, DMC4 and NG2 all have demos available on the marketplace, so you should definitely check out those before you go with my opinion.

Just finished the Orange Box and I want something with a great storyline like the Half-Lifes do. I like the fps genre, and I found Halo 3 to be a bit shallow... I like the 6th sense mystery thing added in if possible too (Gman rocks)...alyxvance2731

So, for my graduation (a while ago) My dad said I could get an Xbox. I'll be getting it in a week, but I can only get one game when I get it. This puts me at a crossroads but I've narrowed down my options and I'd like an opinion.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion-I got this game for the PC but my [crappy] computer can't play it, so I was really disappointed. Especially since this is my favorite type of game, I think it'd be a good choice. (Btw, on the 360 do you need the original to play shivering isles, or can you just get shivering isles and you get the full game with it?)

Halo 3-While I know this game is pretty good, I won't be getting Xbox Live anytime soon, so I'd be stuck on single-player...

GTA4-Sure, I haven't played any GTA game before, but it looks like a game I could have a lot of fun with, besides, I love sandbox games. Again, no XBox Live

I presume by Xbox you mean Xbox 360, otherwise the following would be irrelevent.

Firstly, when you get a new 360 and create a new gamertag on it, you get one month of free Xbox Live Gold, if that helps. GTA4 also comes with a voucher for 1 month of Xbox Live Gold, which'd give you two free months.

Still, if the problem is that your 360 won't be hooked up to the internet, you should probably get Oblivion, since you seem to like it. If you want the full game plus all the additional content (Shivering Isles, etc) get the Oblivion Game of the Year Edition, as it includes everything (as far as I'm aware). I think it's also sold quite cheap. GTA4 also has a large single player campaign, so you might also enjoy that. Halo 3 takes a few hours to complete, so it's pretty useless if you don't have Live.

Incidently, if you like sandbox games, Crackdown and Dead Rising should get a brief mention.They're both pretty cheap these days, and allow you to mess around as much as you want. Neither have worlds as large as Oblivion/GTA4's though. They both have demo's available on the marketplace you could check out once you get your 360.

It's a tough choice. Have you played the Bad Company demo, if not i suggest playing that to aid you in your choice. I would personally go for Call of Duty 4 but that's because i didn't really like Bad Company and the online for CoD4 is one of the best for the 360.

You should wait and just buy COD4. Conquest mode's coming out in a few months from what i heard. Plus in a few months it'll be cheaper by then.

I own Orange Box on PC, but there's no difference. Portal is a very fun game, doesn't matter if you like puzzles or not, although it's a little on the short side. TF2 is one of the most enjoyable online shooters I have played in a long time! It requires teamwork, and not going lone wolf, because that will surely get you killed. Half Life is great for the story that is present in series, and even though I tend to play it less, it's only because I find TF2 too fun.FPS_Gamer123

Lost odyssey it has such a great story. It'll last around 50+ hours and the characters are amazing. I'd get COD4 second.

If you're looking for a multiplayer game get COD4. If you're looking for a single player (and you like JRPG's) get Lost Odyssey.

Bioshock is worth playing, but it's not worth buying at full price since it has very little replay value. Ninja Gaiden 2 is very difficult.

I couldn't beat Alma in the first Ninja Gaiden but the second didn't seem that hard on warrior. i beat it in about a week. its a great game but i kinda regret buying it because for me it has no replay value.
