lol... started on Atari 2600 and Intellivision, but it was the NES that really sealed the deal. Went to PC gaming after the N64 and PS1 reached the end of their respective lives, but GTA3 brought me back to consoles... though I still game on the PC here and there.

I got you beat, man. Monkey Island on PC and Marble madness and Deja Vu on amiga.
Deja Vu was awesome... I had that on my NES... beat the hell out of Shadowgate IMO. Went back to play it again not too long ago and it's... well, yeah... but back in the day that was a tight game.
The game that changed it all for me was Super Mario Brothers. Ever since then, I've been a gaming "nerd" as my friends would call me. However, the game that changed my outlook on gaming itself- that is, a game that brought me from the passive gamer to the fanatical (the type that would play for hours on end) would have to be Final Fantasy VII. And the game that changed me from a Sony Fanboy to a Xbox/Microsoft Fanboy would have to be Halo and Halo 2.
Deadly Tide for the PC baby, oh yeah, like 10 years ago i played and beat the game (i was like 7), but it doesn't work on XP (its a '95 game) so im extremely sad.
And you know what freakin gamespot gave the game a 6.4, that was the best game ever, because it was long with torpedos and lasers and scary aliens! I officially hate gamespot now. (JKJK)
Halo made me buy a console, but ultimatley, I think KotOR is what truley made me appreciate gaming, Halo 2 is what finally pushed me over the edge & I joined Gamespot...
The ORIGINAL video game for me was... Jurassic Park on the SNES. The 2D sidescroller one. AND Super Mario World, AND Donkey Kong Country. I got hooked on gaming as a hobby from those games back when I was 5 or 6 years old. Playing them with my friends when we weren't outside playing some sort of tag/nerf gun/watergun/army/scavanger hunt/ sort of neighbor hood game...ahh......good times. Nearly 9-10 years later I got into the online world with...Halo:Combat Evolved on the PC..oh yea. Too much time wasted playing online there.
The two of us would have to make up the investment ourselves. I'll put $50 bucks down, as long as Cable's not too prominent... I'm changing this to the comics post now...

Not sure. There's been so many. I'd say Super Mario on the SNES got me into gaming and Super Mario 64 was what really wowed me. Besides these early games, GTA 3 was a huge turning point in gaming for me.
On these lines, $5 to the first person who remembers the name of a sidescrolling game on Amiga, prolly bout 86-87, Played like metroid sortta but your guy could turn into a jet whenever. I think it was called Dexter, but not sure. God, all this makes me want to dig up the Amiga, the best system ever!
Maybe Sonic 2. I think that was the beginning for me, although my tastes have changed a lot and I also play more now than I did back then. I play more genres and games from way more companies.
