You forgot something important. The processor will be on 65nm instead of 90nm which means, less power hungry so will run cooler. Thats a good thing about this "new" console plus, like you say, the HDMI (for 1080p HDTVs) and the 120gb HDD.
Let's just wait and see some more.
Its seems to me that the biggest gripe is the price. Some posters don't like the fact that its only $20 less than the cheapest PS3, even though the new 360 will have an HD 6 times bigger than the cheapest PS3, a wireless controller, and is, overall, better than the PS3. Some of these posters are saying that the new 360 should be way cheaper than the cheapest PS3 because the cheap PS3 has Blu-ray, but I don't think anybody should really care. Blu-ray's lead over HD-DVD has slipped dramatically (3 to 1 media sales, to 2 to 1) so I wouldn't be dying to get one. When the time comes, get an HD-DVD player.funbunny

I'm still not believeing anything until MS gives the official word on it.ColoradoKindBud
FFS. Seriously, stop spamming up the boards, I'm sick and tired of this. THERES A DAMN STICKY! SO FREAKING USE IT! Honoustly, just a moment ago on the front page there was three topics, I'm pasting this into all three of them. This hasn't even been confirmed! It's a rumour, jeez guys, how do you think a lame website or a magazine gets people to buy/visit it? If you saw "New xbox confirmed!" in a magazine you'd want to read it or at least buy it, same thing goes @ websites starting rumours. When it spreads to forums ect, people will click for proof and visit it. MS squashed this rumour a few months ago, by saying someone had got ahold of an experiment at their testing facilities. THe black cases you see are mods. Look on google, there are plenty of them around. GameSpot hasn't even confirmed it FFS. The only evidence i've seen is from a few obscene webpages with jack all credibility. Rant over.death1505921
HDMI does more than just video...the upgrade is sound over optical is also a big benefit. creekfan_basic
Also something to consider. The black 360 is rumored to come bundled with the HDMI cable, which is something the other console did/does not do. Considering hte price of HDMI cables, that is also a selling point of note. kintzer

in all honesty i think it pretty much boild down to thwe hard drive for me. considering i bought my xbox 360 TWO DAYS AGO. i should be fuming but i am not. but what does suck is that for $80 more than i just spent i could have had a LOT more HD space cuz since i just bought this itll end up being the price of a PS3 for me itll be $400 +200. and even if i did sell the HD how much of a dent would it make on the $200 when the drive IS out? if i am lucky $80 then itll just be a BASE ps3 $400 +$120. i would have waited another month for it had i known about this cuz i wasnt in a big hurry to buy now . in MY opinion its more about the hard drive than the hdmi cuz 1080p id ALREADY atainable. my bro has had a 360 for 5 months playing on my dads hdtv through vga. now if i lived with them still id be happy with that. lol
i personally dont believe in the black xbox thing. but i DO believe in the premium coming with the new HD and the core getting the 20gb so publishers can FINALLY make games like before knowing the HD will BE THERE

I guess I wasn't too clear with my previous post. What I meant by "other console" was Sony's console. That post was in response to others complaining that the price of hte black 360 was too close to sony's 30gb model. The point I was trying to make was that, I believe, Sony's console failed to include an HDMI cable whereas the rumor is that the Zephyr will have one bundled. Consider that HDMI cables can run from $80 - $100.Â
I asked a mod about it. Use the sticky.death1505921
Well folks,
I tend to not start my own topics often, but this was startin to get silly...
Why is everyone all pissy because of an Xbox with an HDMI port....
-HDMI is only useful for 1080p....that's it.
-You can buy the 120gb hard-drive for your current 360 which will allow you to use IPTV and store lots of shows and movies.
-You can sell your old 20gb drive, so you can get the 120gb drive cheaper...(The will also help core system people get a 20gb drive for cheap)
-VGA actually allows 1080p and most new 1080p HDTVs have VGA input....
HDMI is not worth the upgrade to the elite version....it's especially a waste if you don't have a 1080p TV....No one should be cranky...if you want more hard-drive space...get the bigger one....
So we all need to just chill out....it's really not a big deal...it's kind of a stupid upgrade, actually, which probably explains why it's limited release...TheSmacK420
I disagree. I'm very upset to the notion of a 360 version superior to my own. I always get the top of the line model. Now I feel inferior. You can get the bigger drive but I'm now spending more money and this 400 dollar system is now turning into a 600 dollar system. HDMI is more important then you think because it can output 7.1 uncompressed audio where optic can output only 5.1. Also this must suck for the people that just bought a 360 because they should have waited.
Check your facts man. Most "new" HDTVs do NOT have a vga connection. Most of them are dropping the VGA and going with HDMI since that is what is being supported by Hollywood.Hydrolix

Games only support 5.1 now since that is all it can do, if they add HDMI developers can upgrade the audio also, but I was more referring to HD-DVD and DDHD, DD+, should of made that clear.

I'm not usualy bothered by this type of stuff, but for the past few days the entire board has been packed with this crap.death1505921

Do any games on 360 actually play on 1080p? 1080p is available through component? Im not sure 1080i is enough for me, its bad enough I get headaches from 1080i, I don't need 1080p blinding me I don't think my HDTV has VGA, It has HDMI though and HDMI cables (generic-non branded) is about £13 for a 1.8 metre cable Leave HDMI till the next console oh and this Xbox 360 V2 is probably an april fools jokeWWIAB

If i am correct all new 360s (even the non elite vers) will be getting the improved processor (cheaper for Microsoft and less over heating for the people who haven't learned that a shoe box isn't a good place for a 360).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to buy the new xbox 360. I'm just mad that I have the old own. About the 7.1 thing I was saying that HDMI makes 7.1 possible and with an HDMI cable added then the new Xbox 360 can do 7.1.

Not to change the subject, but I will, isn't it ironic how when Sony talked about HDMI MS said you don't need it (in various interviews) and how Sony said they were doing backward compatability the right way and now they are removing their PS2 chip. Bunch o' hypocrites! headninjadog
I know my solution to all this is to just buy a can of spray paint and .... viola!! Black 360. And I saved 500+ dollars. I don't have overheating problems, and most likely won't use IPTV, but may at some point get the larger HDD, as long as it isn't over $100. You can buy HDDs much larger than 120 gigs for less than that. Praise Newegg :)stoutlad
