They should just be honest and call it "The console you will spend $500 on and buy it even though you are gonna **** about the price but don't wanna be left out"

Agreed--there's no reason why the next platform can't become the anchor for the owner's entertainment and web-surfing experiences. If I could reduce my A/V set-up to a cable box and a console, and seamlessly synch information with all of my other gadgets and computers--that would be pretty wild! Not just canned notices letting me know that my friends are online, but receiving in-game alerts regarding IRL events or reminders would be very useful.
By not relying on specific computers or PDAs to stay-up-to-date on important data, we will be able to become more efficient in our daily lives. If a corresponding handheld was released that completely integrates with the console, and consolidated a cell phone, camera, PDA, mp3 player and mobile gaming. . . that would simplify everything.
I think that's simply the next logical step in the gaming industry.
A console with many PC capabilities. It'll pretty much bridge the gap between the two. Full web browsing capabilities, e-mail, and even simple applications such as word processors. You wouldn't have to install games to the HDD, like a PC, but like the 360, it would improve load times - Full installations would not be wise due to the level of piracy that could occur.
Basically it would be like turning on your PC. A special Xbox OS would load up with a Windows look, and you would choose what to do from there. Obviously, because it's MS, you'd have options like Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, and Windows Media Player (or Center), and of course the ability to play Xbox games.
Mouse and keyboard would be used for applications, and a controller would be used for gaming. Of course, they could allow mouse and keyboard for games as well. But would have to set options to keep like players together.
I all seriousness, let's propose the possibilities:
The next XBOX will have:
1. Blu-Ray
2. Motion Controls
3. More focus on digital distribution
4. Possibily a more focus on casual and family content (I hope not!)
5. And lastly, something secret MS has up their sleeves.
So the new name will have something to do with those above things I've mentioned, especially the Blu-Ray and Motion control thing.
Let us now shift the discussion over to include what we would like to see implemented into the next generation Microsoft Console.
Everythings up for discussion!
Giddyup
we can probably expect a 5 year lifespan for the 360 too
mainly because the 360 failure rate is so high, they probably wanna get it discontinued ASAP so they dont keep getting nailed on repair charges lol
just extra incentive
these consoles have the tech to easily last till 2012 though i hope all the consoles release simultaneously this time
i dont want to have to buy a new xbox :( . last time they quit making games for xbox to force us to buy the 360 like cheap skates. ps2 still has tons of games made for it. i heard the next xbox is coming out next year. a blessing and a curse. it would obviously have amazing graphics and the games would have way more capabilities for euphoria game engine etc but a curse cuz we're in a recession and many of us were broke before pretty much.hughami
If it was coming out next year, then we would of heard a lot more about it. The hype and releases usually start about a year ahead before it is even released.
the x...... i hope to god no more dvd movie garbage imv just make it a system for games i dont need a 3rd dvd player taking up space in my room. what microsoft should do is go the sega route by doing a sytem but digital with a gaming channel from tv. back in the 90's seaga had the sega channel why couldnt ms do the same with xbox?
