Okay, so I cannot wait for Halo Reach, and I'm sure others feel the same way. So i figured I'd make a thread where we can talk about what we want in the game. I'll start

Campaign:

- Matchmaking

- 6 players (assuming you play as the 6 person squad)

- 10-15 hour campaign

- Wide weapon variety

- Epic battles with lots of Spartans and Marines against lots of Covenant

- A serious, but not too dark of a theme

-Character we love

Firefight(assuming they include it):

- Matchmaking

- 4+ players

- Less Lag

- Very similar to ODST's

Last but certainly not least Multiplayer:

- Some weapon choice when you start a match, and upgradeable weapons. What I mean by this: BR varieties, such as a full-auto BR with no scope, the 3 shotter one, and a semi-auto one with a scope stronger then the 3's. All Balanced of course, and all upgradeable, like different scopes, extended mags, etc. I would like to see varieties of other standards such as the AR's and Magnums.

-BOTS! I would love to have bots to fill up custom games some times

- 24+ players

- BETTER matchmaking and skill level thingy

- Blood Gulch

- And more weapons

- Much MUCH more armors and ways to customize them

- No EXP penalty for quitting, and let people join mid game. (If someone quits on your team, your pretty screwed.)

Now what do you guys want?!

Not penalizing people for quitting? Bad idea. Haven't you ever played DOTA. People quit left and right because they're not doing well and just leave. Nobody can do anything about it. There has to be a penalty for quitting in the middle of a match.

But if you get in an unbearably laggy match? Or Halo's skill system conks out and puts you against 50s? Or you have to go? It just bothers to me, because those happen to me often, and if you have mid game join it'll be okay.

Customisable classes for online multiplayer (anything is better than starting with the same crappy weapon then running to pick them up) Co-op matchmaking.

If you have to go somewhere, playing a game before you go doesn't seem to be a good idea. Here's hoping the better matchmaking you wished for will rectify those other problems since people leave all the time as it is.

I'd like to see weapon variety that's actually worth while. There are too many weapons in Halo 3 multiplayer that are fairly useless and ignored by all players.

I like the engine overhaul idea. I also hope there some squad-based-esq mechanics implemented into the story.

1. Huge epic battles aginst the covenant that make you feel that you are in a war for humanity and that will have lasting impressions.

2. Firefight

3. Flyable pelicans please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. and better ranking system that rewards you for ranking like cool new armor or skulls or something

if they have that I will be extreamly happy

I think that they should stop releasing Halo games left and right just because the main series is now over. I mean, seriously... Halo 3 was released in September 2007, then Halo Wars was released in March 2009, then Halo 3: ODST in September 2009, now Halo Reach will be out in 2010. Why so much Halo? I mean Halo 2 came out 3 years after the original Halo, then Halo 3 came out 3 years after Halo 2.... I don't see the need to release all these different Halo spin-offs just because the series is over. They SHOULD release them, just not so close together.

Halo Wars had nothing to do with Bungie, so the blame can't be put on them.

ODST was a fan service and well, I think it was created just to ease people into Reach. Since there won't be regenerating shields, and now an actual health system, maybe some people wouldn't have liked it so Bungie wanted to test it out and see how people accepted it.

I like everything you wrote besides removing penalties. Actually, I want more to be done to quitters. I hate losing a match because someone decides to quit because he/she doesn't like the map or gametype.

Call of Duty is released yearly like EA Sports games. Heck, there are more CoD's released on the 360 alone than all Halo's in both Xbox and 360.

Naw there has to be a penalty. **** happens but the game ain't goin nowhere you can always make up for the lost xp with a late night game sesh or something. But like he said, if you've played DOTA, you'd share the same intelect...it's extremely annoying when noobs just quit..

When you join a game online it should be covenant vs humans. It would be way cooler than red vs blue team.

Yeah, if this happens they better fix the hitbox on Elites, because as of now using an Elite puts you at an instant advantage.

Campaign:

- Make Noble Team very fleshed out, and each character unique

- 15 to 20 hour campaign

- DO THE STORY OF REACH JUSTICE(come on. Make the story really good)

- Let us knives. Especially the Noble Team grenadier's knife(Spartan is still unnamed)

Multiplayer:

- A larger penalty for leaving the game

- Customization out the ying-yang(can't believe I said that)

- More weapons

- Actual Spartan IDs(not like in 3 where it was letter digit digit. Do it where it's name-digit digit digit, like Kelly-087 or Frederic-104

Honestly, I want a completely revamped halo experience. New multiplayer, campaign, everything. I think there is a lot more potential than just more of the same. Give us a squad based halo game! Make it darker and more disturbing. Give us more than just one interesting character. I think they have a chance to reinvent the halo franchise, and they should take the chance.

while bungie has given some signs that the game will be squad based..i wouldn't expect it to be very deep along the lines of the rainbow six series. then again i could be very wrong and bungie aren't scared to change the format that made the first games in the series great.

I think it'd be super awesome if there are more aerial combats. And during aerial combats, it should be in a 1st person cockpit view, like Ace Combat or something. That'll be something refreshing for the Halo series.

Halo is way too profitable a franchise, I'd love to see Bungie re-invent it but chances are we're going to get a re-re-hashed Halo 3 (re-hashed would be ODST).

-More weapons and this time USEFUL yeah spiker im looking at you comparing it to the smg...so much difference :P -15 hour campaign. Seriously, i know mp is important but Bungie can make so much out of this game sp wise. 4 player or MORE in xbl co-op with the option of being able to get out of the session and return later, meaning that the game would still continue. -Heavier penalty for quitting. Ranking system improved, rewarding you for at least, when your team loses, being the mvp. -Custom games should have bots as an option

Just go back to the roots Halo CE's story was way better than any of the other ones. It flowed better and it wasnt corney as sh*t like ODST was. Leave the lame love story out of violent video games (minus gears of war 2, cause the maria part was intense).

I think he meant matching people up by their experience rank. This usually isnt any indication of skill, just how much time you've put into the game. It may be his impression that experience rank has something to do with ranked matchmaking, while it does not. However, if he was referring to the level system, then there is no better way of calculating or proving ones skill. Of course, there are the occasional 40+ or 50 that you see in social that are completely horrible, but that has nothing to do with the ranked matchmaking systems. Also, you could argue that those people may not have played since release, I know a few myself. Basically, he was either really unclear as to his point, or he's very wrong.

Dedicated Servers.

Let us search for a game we want to play. If I want to play Oddball on Guardian, I should be able to. I shouldn't have to hope matchmaking gives it to me.

It serves no other purpose than to allow the developers to use DLC, because then they get to restrict the playlists to map packs only.

I don't see the need to release all these different Halo spin-offs just because the series is over. They SHOULD release them, just not so close together.

Halo Wars wasn't Bungie and it was the opposite of a FPS. ODST is the ONLY game to break the Halo/3year rule. Assuming that ODST will be seen in Reach, too.

Penalty for quitting doesn't need to be changed for the minority who lag out, it's only going to cause problems for those who TRY to play whole games.

Weapon variety is a no, otherwise the rest looks fine.

Update the game engine. =-(

Flamecommando

The only thing wrong with the current engine is vehicle physics. What else does it matter, it's a new engine anyhow.

It's using DirectX 11 tesselation where as the 360's card only does DirectX 9, so they're working around the console vs. PC limitations for us.

I feel that Bungie should bring Halo: Reach's players back to when they first began the spartan project and looked throughout galaxies for children. They should let everyone see how John (Masterchief) got discovered and even let you play as a him when he was a child, bringing more of an emotional glimpse to the chief, enabling players to have a better understanding of who John really is. Let players run around as John, tackling other kids as he was playing king-of-the-hill on the playground. This enables more emotion--a touch of roughness too. It would spark curiosity among players who don't know the background of John. After the king-of-the-hill section, skip to a cut-scence showing Dr. Hasley reach into her purse and pulling out a quarter. Show her ask John to play a game where she will flip the coin and he has to guess which side it will land on. Show her flip it, making sure that it flips several times, showing how John watches it very closely. Show how he guesses the correct-side, the Eagle side, enabling players to see how and why they chose John. Not just because he was a tough boy, but because he was also very intelligent and lucky. From this point, Bungie could veer in several different directions--letting players play through John's past experiences while they maintain a story with the other spartans, somehow mixing the whole thing together.

I wouldnt mind a Halo game that played like Republic Commando. Republic Commando was really quite the dark ominous story. I still play that game every now or then when I am in the mood

Btw this is an interesting concept. I would like if they could maybe implement flash backs involving things like this.
