What's so great about Borderlands

so whats so Great about Borderlands?

i watch live stream for like 5 mins and didn't see anything worthwhile so i turned it off. and all i hear about the game is zom g so many weapons. ok tons of weapons don't make a came good.

Just like with any game that's previewed you get excited about ths possibilities. No one's saying it's the best thing going ...partly because most of us haven't played it yet. But for those who like shooting, leveling up and collecting swag it looks promising.

why would anyone want a game with 17mililon guns? Its impossible to even count to 17 million in the human lifetime WITHOUT taking any breaks for sleep, food, bathroom.

5 minutes, I watched over an hour of it, and this game looks fun, but hard at certain parts.

To add to jad206's comments: There are arenas that let you do free for all and team based modes.

To me it looks outstanding in all aspects. Easily my most anticipated game. A FPS/RPG that sounds like a perfect game for me. Did I mention there were turrets?

if u arent already sold on the game then u never will be, most people who have been following have bene keeping up to date for like 3 years or so. its all down to what u want in a game so if u dont see anything that interests u then other people arent going to be able to change your mind.

The four different skill trees and huge variety of weapons is what has me sold. It will have plenty of reasons to keep going back not to mention each class can be completely different each time. Just google the skill trees and see how many possibilities there are.

Its not randomly generated anymore.

The main factor that lured me in Borderlands is the RPG elements/skills trees and 4 players coop. The guns are something nice and the huge numbers is simply just so no one get the same guns. Its really a matter of opinion, like me i don't see whats so great about the Guitar Hero series. :|

People have to stop saying BL graphics are cel-shaded + i like it how it is it doesnt look like your average game and its colorful.

I was orignally against the art change until I saw some footage, then I thought it looked awesome. I was able to get over the fact that it doesn't look photorealistic because it's an open world rpgfps with a lot of loot to find, an interesting setting and judging by the trailers and footage I've seen it just looks fun. It'll have alot of replay value for the $60. I think it'll do well and it'll be a while before you'll be seeing it in the bargain bin for $10 at which point it'll be a great deal considering the reviews it's getting and the type of game it is.

I actually like the art direction in this game now, when I 1st saw it, I was like "meh, looks ok", but the change did it for me and after playing numerous similar looking shooters on systems this gen alone, I think it works. And what's so goofy about it?

ah well then i suggest just reading a few previews or hand on impressions on ign or gamespot or wherever. all i can really tell u is that its a loot based, 4 player co-op RPS, with a skill tree and it has alot of replayability because all the classes have special skills which will change how easy or hard certain parts of the game are for you. its mainly a shooter with a massive amount of guns, i know its open world but i dont know how big it is. most people will just tell u its like, diablo/CoD/fallout 3. i hope it helps in some way. if u want to know details just read some previews

Only 4 people in the arena now, they said they'd extend that with the dlc if people want it. There are several arenas in the towns where you can just go set up a match during 4 player co-op.

It combines 3 things that have never been properly put-together in a game. Twitch-based shooting, online co-op, and diablo style role-playing with loot, experience, and skill trees. The game is a must-have to anyone who likes rpg's and/or shooters, so really it should appeal to just about any gamer.

The cooperative gameplay is the biggest draw for me. I wouldn't really consider getting it if I didn't have some friends that were buying it as well. If you've got a group of friends that'll be getting it, at least rent it first and play along with them.

i dont know bout this game, some games like this one dont interest me from watching gameplay vids, but acually playing the game is a different story so ill hire it out one day and give it a go, but im definatly not worrying about it for a while, too many other games to be excited about

To be honest... I'm on the fence with borderlands. The art style is good and bad at the same time, the milions of guns seem interesting, but even though we KNOW most of them will be so similar to each other that it will be sad. I love finding many weapons in loot fest games, however 99% of what you find is crap. the characters seem interesting enough, open world as well, if the RPG elements are well done... then well I'll be amazed i'm interested, but I'll wait a bunch of reviews first.paulokoenigkam

Ok, so by your logic if 99% of the weapons are crap (you can sell for money by the way) thenuns in a game with 17 million derivations; 170,000 guns will be awesome!
