There is almost zero chance I will ever buy L.A. Noire. It seems like once the main story mode ends I'll just stop playing it forever & never, ever want to play it again. In video games, what usually keeps me coming back for more is some sort of additional single player mode, like Modern Warfare 2's Special Ops mode. If L.A. Noire has nothing like Spec Ops mode, or some sort of equivalent, than I don't see any replay value in it & I have a rule that I absolutely never buy a game if there is going to be no replay value. I'll definitely be renting L.A. Noire, though.

The fact that you claim it is only 17 hours is irrelevent. It depends on if someone blows through the game or does every little thing that determines how long it really takes. So, if he is really interested in the game, it shouldn't matter if he spends 17 hours on the game or 10. It isn't the same as comparing a $60 game to a car. Also, sometimes the quality of the game can bring more value than the length of the game. I would much rather play a 10 hour game that is amazing than play a 17 hour game that sucks just because it has length.
How long is the game? I will have to "quote" Game Informer Australia here, Issue #17, page 14...

I for one can't wait for it! Sad to see that stellar single player campaigns are taking a backseat to multi player gaming. I loved RDR and GTA 4 solely for the SP, the multi player of both games were a disaster for me. Plus they will most definitely be releasing more DLC for the game (as is fashion nowadays) so there will be more incentive to playing it after the game is over. I just hope that the SP is as long as San Andreas or GTA 4, 'cause I felt that RDR's was a bit short comparatively. All in all it's a must buy for me.... unless the reviews are bad.
#1 I did not like GTA4. #2 I did not like Red Dead. #3 This game not being made by Rockstar. While that does not mean it's going to be bad, I think people are getting a little too hyped.

I didn't say the quality wouldn't be good. The fact is I'm looking forward to this game with great enthusiasm. You acted like game length is irrelevant. It's not. For my money when the developers say 18 - 25 hrs with no co-op, I just don't see $60 worth of value. I can't wait to rent it.
I am kinda on the broke side although I may wait after the first week to see how the reviews are. Depdning on that and other players feedback I will make my decision

I was seriously condsidering getting but not now since I am saving up for other things. I will most likely pick it up in the future....eventually.... when the price goes down.
It's been suggested here that LA Noire will change video games forever. Is anyone NOT buying this game? If not, why? Also, has anyone heard about LA Noire's Multiplayer? I haven't heard anything about it. Or is it singleplayer only? I know the graphics aren't that great, but it's sporting new tech which probably eats up a ton of CPU cycles. I'm curious to know if people are generally excited for this game.

I have little interest in this game. If it scores high on most sites, I'll wait a few months to see if there is DLC. If there is, I'll wait for a GOTY edition that I'll rent.

Pretty sure I saw it on Gametrailers. Even if it's 25 hrs, I'm pretty dissapointed. Wherever I heard it they also siid it took 3 discs, hard to understand why. I'll be skipping the game on launch. My reason being is that Witcher 2 is also being released on the same day. I will purchase LA Noire, most likely after a few price drops. The game looks great but I can wait.
