What Gamespot Users have to say about Ikaruga
- Rating:9.1
Ikarua is a majorly underrated game. It's old school in a modern shell.
As the generations of consoles have improved the arcade scene has died( well in ireland it's dead buried and lost under pool halls and dance machines) and along the way some genres have been forgotten shooters(proper two... Read Full Review

Like R-Type and Raiden? Be ready to fall to your knees and cry.
After playing so many scrolling ship shooting games for years. I thought I knew it all. Until I got Ikaruga for the Dreamcast many years ago. Ikaruga is an instant classic and extremely addictive. It sticks to its tradit... Read Full Review

To put it simply, Ikaruga is the best over-the-top shooter I have ever played.
Gameplay: I love the black/white polarities and the constant switching to make this not only a shooter, but a puzzle game as well. The difficulty is insanely hard, but that just provokes you to play it more. Graphics... Read Full Review

An extremely challenging game that you have to be prepared for when you are going to play!
First off this game is considered one of the hardest games ever made. So if you hate challenges then you'll never like this game. It is a new version of those old arcade style over-head airplane shooters. Except add some... Read Full Review

The lost art of the shooter is reborn.
This game is hard. And when I say hard, I don't mean it's just a bit difficult. I don't mean 'Ninja Gaiden' hard. I mean just HARD. But the game itself, is great. Every fan of vertical shooters should pick this up. I kno... Read Full Review

Ikaruga is a game of full action and wild fun. I like how this game brings an old school style that makes you remember those times when you were hours in front of an arcade machine. This game is kind of hard, but that di... Read Full Review

Unapologetically hard, but beautiful in its difficulty.
Any dyed-in-the-wool old-school gamer is nostalgic for the days of frustratingly hard space shooters like R-Type and Gradius, and it is unfortunate that so few games in this generation have catered to this deathless, if ... Read Full Review

It's good at what it does, but it's not pushing its genre forward much, which it depserately needed to do. Rent it.
This game can be played 1 or 2 Players. Ikaruga is one of those games you either love or hate from the very beginning. It will take you all of 5 to 10 minutes to get a feel for the game and whether you like it or not. ... Read Full Review

Nice concept but turns more into a puzzle
There is a lack of good shooters in the US on the new generation of systems. Ikaruga is probably the only side-scrolling shooter for the GameCube worth mentioning here. But I think that the game is highly over-rated. ... Read Full Review
