What Gamespot Users have to say about Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

Worthy addition to the classic Sonic games.
This game was truly a worthy addition to the original Sega Genesis classics. The gameplay was very similar aside from the new dash attack. However, like many other games it does have it's pros and cons. Pros: The game... Read Full Review

Something about this game just ain't right!
After losing about 25 lives on Casino Street Zone 3, I'm about finished with this game. I'm not sure why SEGA and the Sonic Team decided that players loved this type of zone from the old games; as a kid, I always HATED ... Read Full Review

You get want you want without the "then some."
Sonic 4: Episode 1 is the first step, nay, leap in Sega bringing quality back to the description of the Sonic franchise. The game is 2D, uses 3D graphics, you only play as Sonic, you only fight against Dr.Robotnik/Eggma... Read Full Review

Its not perfect but a step in the right direction.
What can you say? After all these years a new mainstream sonic game is here. I played Sonic 1 and 2 to death and I'm here to give my impressions on this new title. Sound 7/10 Sonic games almost always have a good s... Read Full Review

Not quite there yet. Too much re-hashing, and using old ideas, not enough addition to the series.

A great game, provided it is taken as it is.
Before I begin, let me just say that Sonic was to me what Mario was for most while growing up. I played through Sonic 1-3 and Knuckles an uncountable number of times, and also enjoyed 3d blast, adventure 1 and 2, and eve... Read Full Review

Total disappointment right from the get go. There is really no substance to this game!!!! I was so looking forward to this game ever since it was announced. I thought that this would bring the series back to its a... Read Full Review

Is it perfect? No. Is it a huge step in the right direction? Yes.
When I first picked up Sonic the Hedgehog 4, I will agree that it felt slow to me; sonic takes a while longer than he used to to accelerate to full speed, and that speed isn't as fast. Nor does the down spin work very we... Read Full Review
