My Schnauzer, Jack Kirby

To follow-up from yesterday, I did get Sims 2: Pets at about 12:30pm. I walked into Gamestop and they were just pulling it out of the delivery box. Fantastic timing!

It was none other than JennyMilly who showed me Sims, playing it with Valerie that week we came to Boston, and then once Rob moved home with me, I played it at his house all the time. However, our computer could hardly support the base game itself, nevermind the expansions, so it wasn't until the Sims 2 came out that we got a new computer and I've been rockin and rollin ever since.

With all the activity going on in my life right now, I only got to play for about two hours yesterday afternoon. Of course, I had to make me and Rob and find some cute outfits and then pick a pup and build a house for our little family. So then I only got to play with the pup a little, but I have tried to start working on training our little Schnauzer, Jack Kirby, how to sit up, as seen here:

My clock is befouled

Ok so as some of you may know, my whole biological clock or whatever is on China time and I'm all screwed up with my usual TV viewing. The only show so far this week I've gotten to watch in normal "live" time is Nip/Tuck, and man, that bus scene, wow - did not see that happening. I honestly thought that Escobar was going to talk Sean in to taking Monica out to the Everglades, and then WHAM!  :D

So then of course Wednesday was all messed up, and we watched Lost on Thursday night instead, still haven't seen The Nine or Jericho, and missed completely 30 Rock. We did go ahead and watch The Office last night, since that's only a half-hour long. I hope my capa don't get de-tated anytime soon. ;)

And tonight I'm going for a weekend in Mystic with my mom, walk around the shops, see the tall ships, so I won't be able to catch up on anything. There's no Patriots on this Sunday, and as most of you know, I've stopped watching baseball. Although I do keep my ear peeled for any good Tiger news. :)

Well hopefully next Monday will bring about peace and prosperity to my depleted television viewing schedule, and I can get caught up on everything. Pretty soon Lost will be on hiatus and all hope will be lost again.

And one more huge shout-out on my love of the producers of Lost - When you find yourself doubting life, when you think you're on an island all alone, desolate with no hope, and you need someone to turn to, to lift up your spirits, to show you that all hope is not lost, to make you a believer again - you turn to the 2004 World Series Champions, The Boston Red Sox.

The Babs debacle

The more I keep hearing bad press on Barbra Streisand's outburst the more aggravated I keep getting.

Thousands of people attended U2's tour last year to support "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb;" I was one of them. I don't remember hearing everyone in an uproar when Bono decided to go on for a half-hour spiel about how we should fight poverty and "Coexist" and all that, right in the middle of the concert. I do remember reading about how Edge, Larry, and Adam could do without, but not even they put up a strong opposition.

So what's the difference? Barbra's also using her time on the stage to talk politics. She's not even making a speech about it though, she's not asking everyone to sign a petition at the concert, like I got bombarded with at U2's show, everywhere you turn there were these people there trying to get you to sign up to stop poverty, whatever.

In my opinion, while I haven't seen the Barbra/Bush skit, it seems like more than anything, Barbra is just trying to be funny with it. She could take the time to throw in a half-hour speech with her bifocals on and tell us all about how this government is ruining the country, bla bla bla. But no, she's taking one of her most classic moments in musical history, her duet with Judy Garland, and turning it into a political satire, in the likes of SNL and the Daily Show, and it seems the whole country is up in arms about it.

It just disgusts me that no one blames the heckler for their part in this. I'm glad there's buzz now for Barbra's tour, but I'm afraid it's all in the wrong light, people calling her a Communist and such. It just makes it seem like we can't enjoy her music without taking sides one way or the other. I don't support her politics, I don't support anyone's politics. But the thing I most greatly do not support is any one person ruining the entire event for everyone, including the artist herself.

If I had known that U2 would go on and on and on about ending poverty and "coexist" and all that, I might have stayed home that night. But U2 tours every other year. Barbra hasn't been on this extensive of a tour in decades. I can sit through her 5-minute skit, like I do each and every single week on SNL, I can keep politely refrain from applauding when it's over, and I can be wowed and cry and applaud voraciously at the end of the magnificent evening that I'm sure it will be.

Oh Barbra...

Is anyone around here going to see her on tour?

Per the Associated Press:

Streisand has outburst at NYC concert

The most riveting moment of Barbra Streisand's Madison Square Garden concert was one of the only unscripted ones.

Streisand endured jeers as she interjected a political skit into Monday night's show, exchanging zingers with a celebrity impersonator playing George Bush as a bumbling idiot.

Though most of the crowd offered polite applause during the slightly humorous routine, it went on a bit too long, especially for those who just wanted to hear Streisand sing.

"Come on, be polite!" the well-known liberal implored. But one heckler wouldn't let up. And finally, Streisand let him have it.

"Shut the (expletive) up!" Streisand bellowed, drawing wild applause. "Shut up if you can't take a joke!"

With that one F-word, the jeers ended. And the message was delivered — no one gets away with trying to upstage Barbra Streisand, especially not in her hometown.

Baseball's dead

To me, at least. Baseball has died because I have no further interest in watching the playoffs or the World Series, no matter how hard the Tigers smacked down the Yanks or with what ease the A's swept the Twins. The Red Sox were dead a few weeks ago, and it was just heart-wrenching to see the Padres get beat by the Cards, who did not deserve to win, but the Padres couldn't get hits if they were playing with Wiffle ball bats.  So Baseball's dead, no matter how convincing Tommy Lasorda might be otherwise.

In other news, I've made some huge rookie mistakes here on TV.com. While I've moved up in the ranks fairly quickly with participating in a few forums and reviewing shows and PM'ing dearest JenMil a lot, I'm still new to TV.com as far as contributing goes. My lesson learned: Don't copy and paste. Yes, a smarter man would have known this, but I am not smart, and I am not a man. I thought I found a way to submit stuff that no one else had thought of, saving everyone a lot of work, but alas, the method I conspired was illegal. Rookie mistake, it shan't happen again.

Leaf-peeping

I've only been in New England for about four years now, but every time I hear the phrase "leaf-peeping" it gets me a-giggling. I mean, do the leaves really not know that we're looking at them, come Autumn-time, and they radiate with such vibrant colors?  Are we really only "peeping" at them?  Am I supposed to stand behind a tree to look at other trees' leaves, but then dash back behind so the leaves don't see me looking? I mean, I could understand that if a man wanted to "peep" at a lovely woman walking by, he might employ this method, but am I really only allowed to "peep" at the leaves?  Why can't I stand there in all my glory, as a full-blown member of the human race, and stand in front of the tree and say, "Tree - I am looking at your leaves now!" Why must I peep?  I don't want to peep! I am not ashamed!

Holy Rusted Metal, Batman!

Oh no...

Why is the site being all buggy today?  Again - it posted my "Lost" review twice, just like last week with Nip/Tuck.  And I was being so careful today to not let it post duplicates - and then I was sure that it hadn't - but then it did!!!  Augh!!

Please don't be buggy - not on Lost Chat Day!!!
