Can You Tell....

That I'm on spring break? What with all my recent activity, blog-wise, I should think it's obvious. I've been hella bored. I even painted my toenails, and I don't do that until summer hits. I could be more productive, I guess - I do have to read Crime and Punishment in about two weeks - but I can't resist the urge to slack off for once. Speaking of slacking off, I went to Borders yesterday and bought a copy of French Glamour. I was shocked by the outfits they had some of the girls wearing! If I saw someone on the street that was dressed like this, I think I'd ask them what drugs they were on and if I could have some. Honestly, would you wear this in public? Since when have lederhosen been in style? In France or the US? This was about the only outfit I wasn't grossed-out by. In fact, I'd like to have it. I think it's quite stylish and chic: And I thought the French were highly stylish, you know, with all haute couture crap. I guess I was seriously mistaken. That's a Rip-off

So, how much was I wanting to see Lake and Michelle kicked off 'The Amazing Race' last night? And, how MAD was I to see that they hadn't been? Grr. Phil, next week's episode had better be a doozy. I like how BJ and Tyler were the only ones who didn't open their clue inside the cathedral. It shows that they have respect for the place. The other teams were just kind of "blah" about it, ripping open their clue and blabbering about it. However, BJ and Tyler took time to really appreciate the beauty of the cathedral they were in, and they respected it enough to go outside to open their clue. I hope they win! And Sheridan found out that the man in the hospital is Luis. It was so anti-climactic that I wanted to puke. Man, McKenzie Westmore and whoever plays Chris are really bad actors. *An aside: This is for the guys, if indeed any guy reads this* Is it really hard to aim for the toilet? I walked into the bathroom, after my nephew had come home from school. There was pee all over the toilet, all over the wall, and all over the floor. In other words, disgusting. My question, should you choose to answer it, is Is it really that hard to aim at the toilet while relieving yourself? Maybe I just don't understand it because I'm a woman, but come on! Oh man

I rarely do posts two days in a row, but I just have to say how good The Melting Pot was last night. For those of you not familiar with Indianapolis, it's a fondue restaurant on the east side of Indy. Man, it was HELLA good. We had a 4-course meal, but dessert was the best! The first course was 4 different mixtures of melty, gooey cheese served with bread, apples, and a few raw veggies (mmm). There were, in no particular order, a Wisconsin blend (fontina, blue cheese and something else, I can't remember), a "fiesta" cheese (cheddar, Monterrey Jack, salsa, and fresh jalapenos), swiss cheese with cherry brandy, nutmeg and garlic, and then a cheddar with Worcestershire sauce and garlic. OH MAN, was it good. I think my favorite was the Swiss cheese blend. It went soo well with the apples they served with it. The second course was just more cheeses, but mixed around, and served with raw veggies. The third course, the entrée, was a plate of different kinds of protein - there was soy-sauce (I think) marinated beef sirloin, chicken breast, and shrimp - that you cooked in one of two pots. The first pot had a chicken bouillon broth with some kinds of spices, and the second pot had a Burgundy wine beef broth (I think). I don't like shrimp, so Ashley and I traded with our friend Phillip - he doesn't eat red meat or chicken. We also cooked some raw veggies - Button mushroom caps, broccoli, yellow squash and potatoes - in the broth. There was all kinds of dipping sauces (like the yellow curry sauce - mmm) and thick dips (my favorite was either the green goddess with the mushrooms or the gorgonzola with the beef). Then, the pièce de résistance - DESSERT. We had four pots on our table. I think we had a pure milk chocolate, a white chocolate with Amaretto, a "flaming turtle" (think of the candy "turtles", add a splash of liqueur and flame it), and a "marshmallow cookies and cream." They were served with fresh fruit, cubes of pound cake and a slice of cheesecake that we gave to just one girl in our little group. Man, I'd say that my favorite was the white chocolate Amaretto with the strawberries. OH MAN, it was GOOD. Plus, I had two glasses of wine. The first was a Camelot Pinot Noir, and the second was an Australian Shriaz. I'd say the Shiraz was better - it wasn't as dry as the Camelot, and it was FREE, since Phillip had already bought the bottle and offered me a glass after I'd finished my first. I had such a good time last night, and there were about 20 many people there! I mean, when you consider that last semester, only Ashley and I would go to the French club events (and we were the ones who organized them), 20 people is a lot! The only drawback to the evening was that I GOT HELLA LOST on the way home. I never go to the northeast side, and I thought I was going south on 465, but instead I ended up on 65 north, TOWARD CHICAGO. WHAT?? I think it was a mix of the fact that I was a bit tipsy and the fact that I never go to that side of town that led to my lost-ness. I'm still full from last night! Current Music: "I Should Tell You" from Rent RANDOM PICTURE So, I got this HUGE envelope in the mail yesterday, with the phrase 'FREE GIFT!' emblazoned on the front. I thought, "Ooh, I like free stuff, let's open it!" I looked and looked for my stupid gift, and I found this pen. It's only about 2-1/2 in. long. What a gift.

Seen any good movies lately?

Did I mention that I saw "Brokeback Mountain" AND "A Home at the End of the World" recently? What is it with me and gay guy movies? Ha, I guess it's NOT just movies. I like "Queer as Folk" as well. Maybe I'm really a gay guy. I do like guys... Anyway, did you watch the Oscars? BROKEBACK DIDN'T WIN. But, I saw 'Crash' a while back, and it was really good. I think it deserved to win. It's effing hot in this house. I need to move out so BAD. And, I need to turn in my FAFSA, but my dad didn't have his PIN, so I can't turn it in online yet. I needed that like, YESTERDAY. I guess I'll just have to settle for going to the Melting Pot tonight with French club and eating some hella good fondue. Oh, and I might drink some wine. Lord knows I need a drink. Les Indices de Blue

Well, call me Mom today. I have to watch Chelsea's son today becuase her regular babysitter's kids are sick. So, I've got a kid cramping my single style. Oh well. At least he's cute! I wish I had a picture to post of him, because he is hella cute. He's got these really long eyelashes and looks just like his mom. Awww! So cute! I still haven't gotten to watch CSI, and I've been missing Passions lately. I'll be able to watch it today FOR ONCE. But, other than that, it's Blue's Clues for me. How did I get dragged into this kid bit? Current music: The "Blue's Clues" theme sung by Steve

Or something

So, I was watching "The Soup" on Saturday, and for their "Clip of the Week," they had a scene from General Hospital, between some guy, a stewardess, and the guy's traveling companion. WHO, BY THE WAY, WAS A FREAKIN CHIMP. Wow, did they rip that off Passions! I believe PASSIONS was the first soap to have a primate on their show. Of course, I'm talking about Precious, the orangutan nurse that Beth hired to take care of Mrs. Wallace. Man, first people make fun of the show, and then they copy it. I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Or something. Hopefully, I'll get to watch CSI tomorrow night. It seems I never get to watch it, and Lady Heather is going to be on there. I'm debating on whether to read The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison or Journal du Dehors by Annie Ernaux. I need to read them both by Monday, and they've both very short: Eye is 215 pages and in English, while Journal is only 107 pages and in French. To make it more interesting, I may have to read it in a Canadian accent, since the author is canadienne. Well, I believe that will be it for now. I can't wait for the next Charmed episode. I'm going through withdrawal! Current music: "High" by James Blunt Current annoyance: This girl I knew in high school (that screwed my other friend by leaving her with the lease for an apartment they leased together) keeps IMing me. I just blocked her, but it's still not as gratifying as hanging up on someone. You know what I mean?

Where's Will Ferrell When You Need Him?

So, I was watching Saturday Night Live last night, which I never do because I really don't particularly like anyone on there anymore (except Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Rachel Dratch). Anyway, who was the retard hosting it last night? After watching his monologue and him talking about how he was flinging cashews with his "morning wood," I was a bit disgusted and went to bed. I don't even know who that guy was, let alone what he did that made him famous enough to host SNL. I'm no stranger to raunchy humor, but man, I didn't think that stuff was funny. It was just gross. Not to mention that he made himself look like a total ass. Anyway, I did tune in later to watch James Blunt, of whom I'm a big fan, and I was very impressed by his performance. I wish I could watch more CSI. I usually work Thursday evenings now, which sucks, and I can never get it taped right. Either I forget about it or someone messes it up. **POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD** I really wanted to watch it about two weeks ago, when Stokes was going to find out more about the people who kidnapped him. He's looking much better without his mustache, but I hope he doesn't look like the Man in the Yellow Hat from Curious George. Which, by the way, is fitting, since his name is George Eads. Curious George, George Eads. Get it? Passions is failing to hold my interest lately. As soon as Rachel "uncloaked," everything just started going downhill. Yes, we know everyone in Harmony has skeletons in their closet that Alistair knows about. That's why everyone is a suspect. DUH. Please, writers of Passions, don't insult your viewers' intelligence. Write some good stories. How about having Gwen 'fess up to Ethan, Ethan ditching Gwen and going for Theresa, and Theresa refusing him and hooking up with Noah-with-better-acting-skills? That would satisfy me. On a personal note, I MADE DEAN'S LIST FOR LAST SEMESTER! That's TWICE in a row, baby. Let's hope I can keep this thing going. With the way this semester started out, I think it's going to be hella hard. RANDOM PICTURE TIME Well, the picture is being stupid and cutting off the right side of the photo, but it doesn't matter since there's nothing over there. If you look beyond the crappy picture quality, that's my dog Gizmo. She's a three-year-old Aquarian Australian Terrier and a little blonde bombshell. She's the one who protects us from the stray acorns outside. Current music: "Spoonful of Sugar" (or whatever it's called) by Julie Andrews, from "Mary Poppins"

Bugger

Well, for some weird security reason, TV.com isn't displaying pictures hosted at other sites. Because of the fear of incurring the wrath of TV.com officials, I'm going to keep my mouth shut about this development. However, I will say this: What's gotten into the people over at the Charmed forums? They're out for blood, it seems, insulting each other and fighting like children... I don't think I've posted anything there since at least Monday, and if the behavior over there continues to be as such, I won't post there for a long time to come. Seriously, people, act like adults. Sheesh. If you don't think a joke is funny, either keep it to yourself or PM a moderator. Don't junk up the forums with complaints like "I found that rude, blah blah blah." I don't find some of the stuff on the forum particularly funny or whatever, but I'm not going to throw a big fit about it and insult other people. You're just egging on the process. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Current music: "I Throw My Toys Around" by No Doubt

Forget Your Acquaintances

Happy New Year, everyone! Have a glass of champagne on me. You know me, always buying everyone drinks. Maybe that's why I never have any money. Mmmm... bubbly. Nothing like a glass of champagne to make you feel better. So, I was watching DOOL today (that's Days of Our Lives, for those of you who don't watch soaps), and Lucas started doing this kind of dance. I don't know that you'd even call it a dance. It looked like he was surrounded by a swarm of killer bees and thought "Well, if I pull an Ashlee Simpson and do a little jig, I'll scare them away." Hopefully, it didn't work. I didn't hang around long enough to see what exactly the hell he was doing. SPOILER AHEAD FOR PASSIONS Rachel's gone and stabbed Alistair. Yeah, he's a bad guy and deserves to die, but man, what are they gonna do if he dies? I know that there's enough conflict around Harmony to keep the residents busy, but he just spiced things up. And poor Theresa - she's gonna think he's dead, years and years will go by, and he'll show back up. Hopefully she'll be with Noah by then and he'll kill Alistair, but I don't think I'll get that lucky. I can't wait for the new episodes of CSI and Charmed. Will there be any GSR? How will Piper cope with the loss of Leo? Will Billie cease to be a ho? Will Stokes still look like The Man in the Yellow Hat? Will I be drunk again? P.S. Isn't this the cutest picture you've ever seen? Something's got to be done about the picture quality over at Photobucket. It SUCKS. Anyway, that's my nephew Clayton on the left and my cousin Chelsea on the right. Aren't they so cute? Current music: "Panic" by No Doubt

O Holy Pre-Christmas Eve

Well, they did it. The writers on Passions finally ruined my Christmas. IF YOU WATCH PASSIONS, BUT HAVEN'T SEEN TODAY'S EPISODE, YOU MIGHT WANT TO SKIP DOWN A BIT. They actually brought Ethan back. I can't express my.... disappointment. I was hoping this Gwen/Ethan/Theresa triangle would end, but even I knew I wouldn't be so lucky, so I thought, "Well, maybe they'll wait till after Christmas to bring him back." But NO. They didn't. It was a stupid "Christmas miracle," you know, the ones they have every year. And LORD KNOWS how long Jessica is going to stay at home before she goes back to selling herself. What a dope! Today, I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It's definitely the scariest of the series, but I have to say that it's not my favorite. They cut so much out, and even though I know they had to (it would have been WAAYY too long if they'd left it intact), I was disappointed to see that some parts didn't make it into the movie. Like, where was S.P.E.W.? Or Winky and Dobby? What happened to the Quidditch World Cup? You didn't even see the Veela, which would explain to those of us who haven't read the books why Ron asked Fleur Delacour to the ball and why he was mortified afterwards. However, I think the film made up for its sketchiness. Ralph Fiennes put in a fine performance as Lord Voldemort (or You-Know-Who, for those of you who like that better). Too bad the rest of the books are all long as well. As the books get longer, the movies are probably going to get sketchier. Anyway, tomorrow is Christmas Eve (yay!), so I thought I'd give everyone a present: Aww, MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE AT TV.COM! That being said, I want everyone to have a couple candy canes, a couple Reese's cups, and a few big glasses of (strong) eggnog on me. Go on. Merry Christmas! Current music: Very appropriately, "Silent Night" by Harry Connick, Jr. Mmm, what I wouldn't give to have him under my tree on Christmas morning...
