I have to say I'm incredibly excited. Next month, Michael Ian Black (of I love the..., Ed, Wet Hot American Summer, ect. fame) is comming into our campus for a show. Since my friend is high up on the committe, I get to be her guest and sit in the front row! In April, the Mythbusters are also comming and our comitte is co-sponsoring the event which is also great. Friday night, Dale K. is preforming and I'm a little nervous about him. From what I saw on the promo video, he kind of makes people look like fools.

So two nights ago, I find a link that tjaman had on his profile to a 'verse video called Lie to Me. I watched all the video's on his list but I must say, during and after this video I cried for at least a good 20 miutes straight. Not even Cold Case has done that too me. *Side note: I almost made it through the end last week, but when the little girl saluted...BAM! Down came the waterworks. I'm avoiding tonight's episode because I have a meeting to go to right afterwards and I don't want to go a sobbing mess.* Anyhow, yes, the video was incredibly moving. The creator did a wonderful job.

Other than that...all is well. The Game Live came this weekend. Not my thing so I hid with the rest of our commitee. But the setup guys were really nice and now I get to rock a free Mountain Dew beanie!

I’ve always wanted to see Dead Like Me, and today I got my chance. As with most shows, I came in towards the middle. Since the show only made it through two seasons, the middle here happens to be near the end of Season Two “Be Still My Heart”. I’m a little confused so far, but I’m trying to catch the reruns on SciFi but they don’t think they need to air reruns very often. From what I gather, the main girl, George has died and is now a reaper. She tends to frequent a coffee shop with other reapers. Though they are dead, they can still appear to others and apparently “do it”. It appears promising and I look forward to being able to watch from the beginning. I might have to rent it somewhere if SciFi is going to let me down.

So I actually was on time with this one, but I saw the pilot on USA about halfway through and I must say I am COMPLETELY confused. The chick from Legally Blonde/Final Destination sees something in a mirror, one guy can fly?, the foreign man can change time, and hayden can’t hurt herself. Personally, I was horribly disgusted with the garbage disposal scene, way to much distortion that necessary. I really think this show might be too bizarre for me so I’ll think I’ll stay away.  

 

Ugly Betty is great! America Ferrera is a great person and great actress. Ugly Betty appealed to me from what I saw in the previews and I was not disappointed. I’m pretty sure Vanessa just transferred her wardrobe from South Beach (or whatever that UPN show with Jett Jackson). But she’s got style. High hopes for this show because it’s been great so far. ABC has never looked more beautiful!

I have to agree with a friend when she made the analogy that college is a lot like Summer Camp.

You get to live away from your parents and have to fend for yourself in a way. Instead of Arts and Crafts we have Algebra and Speech. The food isn't always the best and whenever you go home, you ask for homecooking. (Today I saw an add for Tuna Noodle Caserole on TV and both me and my roomate started drooling). 

Ways Life at College is different from life at home:

1) The graffiti. I am used to seeing has now been replaced by sidewalk chalk advertisements for clubs and activities
2) At home you can drive across town in 10-15 minutes, here you can walk to class in 10-15 minutes
3) If you show up for class 1 minute early you are on time. Now if you want a good seat, show up 10 minutes early.
4) You are afraid to do anything crazy/silly because people won't forget. Here I can run down the sidewalk with my sweatshirt spread out and make airplane noises and I don't care because a) people don't know my name and even if they say "hey I saw some weird girl pretending to be an airplane" they don't know who I am. b) they won't rember it's me.
5) In bed by 10:30-up at 7:00-----In bed by 12:00--up at 8:47. 8:30 classes are early and 7:30 is unimaginable
6) You can stay in shape by working out or joining a sports team. Now I just walk to class and don't worry about the freshman 15. 
7) Studying in high school is no fun. Studying in college SUCKS!
8) People make fan clubs based on a tv show or actor. Here, the hottest fan club is the Scooter Girl/Asian BB playing kid Fan Club on facebook

Renting cars is a basic human need like eating or sleeping or trying on shoes.

We're like the minstrels of Ole. I think about these things. Okay we're like the minstrles of Ole going from town to town maybe singing maybe entertaining people. People need that the way they need to rent cars.

See, I think about these things in my off hours. What do you think about? You're not even here when you're here. Okay? I'm here, I'm double-ly here. There's two of me. I'm in the front I'm in the back. I'm working here, I'm helping them. Why? Because there's none of you.

If you read the title of this post at all then you probably guessed correctly Lords and Lassies that today was in fact a big day. Ya me! Thanks to everyone who sent me emails and drawings and dropped by to visit me. Overall it was a pretty good day. I got a few cards, two of my best friends made me cake and I had to attend a viewing of the film Born into Brothels. 

 The schooling is still teaching me. I watched "Monster In Law" with a few friends this weekend and started a shout-out game. Let me clarify: Shout-out is when you are walking and someone shouts something at you from a passing car. You recive bonus points if someone who is intoxicated on the street stops to talk to you. It's quite a fun game. We ended the night with 6 points. Not bad. It was pretty early when we came in. I also broke down and bought Jawbreaker. I love that movie! The parents got me Veronica Mars Season 2 for my birthday. I already watched all of the special features, I am God and half of My Mother the Fiend.

There is a new episode of Neptune Pirate Radio and I'm on it.

So the girl makes it through her first week. Snaps for that. 

Wednesday:
General Psych-  More notes over stuff I already know.  I signed up for an experient regarding my childhood. *shudder*
Fresh Sem- If you sign up for this, you get culturized. I have to go to so many plays and movies...including on Sunday. It's not really how I want to spend my birthday but I'll live. It's about Brothels which makes it better
Psych Fresh Sem- The professor is British and fun to listen to. I'm kind of glad its only an 8 week class with very litle homework.

Thursday: 
Gen Psych Res- Our instructor is pretty cool. She bakes us things. 
Intro to Anth.- The professor spent a lot of time talking about one thing. It was nice not having to take a lot of notes, but a bit of a waste of time.
College Algebra- We're still on review so it's easy. The professor gets way too excited over math-related things.

Friday:
C. Algebra Res- I can't understand the instructor. He is from China and I'm sure he is a nice guy and all, but he has a tendency to repeat himself. 

It's Dollar Movie Night tonight: The Breakup. I don't know yet if I'm going. 

Ohh! I actually socialized at lunch today! A girl from Great Bend sat down with my friend and I.  I made coversation. Snaps for me.

Yesterday I highjacked Norma's computer and changed her MSN icon, Background, Screensaver, and Home Page to things all related to Veronica and Duncan. HA! I also left a really weird note of Savanna's door. Haha!

Lastly, I earned the editorship for Nina Siemaszko. I'm really happy. I love her work in Mystery Woman and her guest spot on Cold Case.

So college is going pretty well so far. I've only been to two classes, but I have another one in a few hours. Move In day was a little stressful, but it all worked out. My roomate, Emily, is a pretty cool person. She's pretty hyper-active and social but the girl sleeps like the dead. She definately has her own style which isn't a bad thing. 

Yesterday I only had one class; General Psychology.My friend and I were afraid we were in the wrong room, but we wern't and the class went by pretty fast. 50 minute classes are so much better than 80 minute ones. I've already read the chapters required for that class but I'll re-skim them tonight. We're supposed to write a page anwsering a question as long as our anwser has something to do with psychology. I'm a little confused by this assingment, but I have until Thursday at 8:30 to get it done. 

Today I've been to Introduction to Anthropology which is where the title of this entry comes from. "If the President can make up words like 'The Decider' than I can make up words like 'The Pissoffer'. It's still a free country." It was said by my Professor who helped write the book we are using. He is from the Netherlands and has a pretty strong accent but he has a good sense of humor and likes to make jokes. This class runs 1 hour and 15 minutes which is a little longer but I think I'll be okay since there is no recetation.

I have College Algebra later on today and I'm a little worried about it. I'm okay with Math, but I really don't like it and the fact that I don't like it causes me to not pay attention some times which is always a bad thing. I just need to remain focused and try my damndest to pay attention. :(
