@dabatman617 For example: IBM, a major corporation, has a trademark on "IBM" or, "International Business Machines, Corporation", that does NOT prohibit other companies or corporations from coming along and using "business" in their name. It doesn't prohibit me from using "international" in my name. It prohibits people from coming in and using "IBM" as their name.
@dabatman617 I'm from America and you are defending a broken practice. Patent tr'olls are a huge issue here and Bethesda is doing it. Those laws that you speak of though, are intended to stop me from naming my game "Skyrim Fallout Scrolls" and portraying my game as a "Bethesda" IP, it's not inteded to suffocate innovation and creativity. It's not intended to let me own the word "fallout" from now until the end of time...
@dabatman617 So what's your defense of the "scrolls" fiasco then? Another game that no one would have ever confused with "The Elder Scrolls" but instead....scrolls can never be used in gaming again.
EA now owns battlefield, no other dev can ever use "battlefield" in their title
Blizzard now owns "world" and no other company can use it
Valve now owns "defense" and no other company can use it
Activision now owns "call" and no other company can use it
Is that really what your defending here? Blatant trademark tr'olling?
@dabatman617 See my last post for common words that Bethesda believes only they can use apparently.
People don't mind business, they don't mind DLC or any thing like that. They mind bad business and anti-consumer policy. They mind someone as big as Bethesda using their massive fortune to stomp on someone for using a word found in the dictionary that had 0 intent to capitalize on "Fallout" or their other IPs.
