Love trying to read comments now, every new one scrolls my screen so I constantly lose my place. If you do a mmo, don't ruin ES. Do something new, we don't need WoW 2.0( we have a ton of those), we need a new game. My bet is this is going to suck. I hope they prove me wrong.
Not everything needs to be an MMO. Goodbye ES, we had some good times, just like Warcraft and I had before you and I met. I'll miss you, even those annoying little bugs you had. Who knows, maybe you'll evolve into a beautiful butterfly as an mmo, but history says its more probable you'll crash and burn in a fiery hellhole that is greed...
@gregam1128 I pay $60 for a physical or digital copy of the game. I expect to own the full product, not 90%, not 80%. If they charged $50 and said a $10 fee would unlock the whole disk I'd buy it, but I'm paying 100% price and getting
Most bad games lose money. I got Crysis 2 and it was a "meh" game. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. Mp was laggy and really not that special. SP wasn't that much better IMO. The problem isn't that FPS's don't sell, it's that the market is so saturated with shooters that your competing with everyone and their mom for sales. "insert title here" shooters don't make money because they have no real selling point. CoD and BF are rehashed to death, they have the shooter market cornered but people are screaming for real innovation, yet, new games that release do so little different that it's obvious most people will just wait for the next CoD instead of buying a shoddy uninspired clone. You want a FPS to sell? Make something beyond "just new enough that it isn't copywrite infringement 2.0" make your product stand out from the juggernauts not in their shadows.
@jsmoke03 Gamers aren't opposed to giving dev's credit, they are opposed to being nickel and dimed to death. We pay 60$ new, DLC, Internet, subscription (if Xbox), etc etc. games are being sold where we pay $60 new and don't apparently own the whole thing, only 90% of it. MP3 now offers DLC "passes" to save money on basic MP components that should be standard. We get it's a business, but consumer rape shouldn't be a business plan. I haven't bought used in over 10 yrs, but with Max Payne's new policy, I'll break that streak if only to piss them off.
In other news, no one surprised by EA asshat'ery. I actually decided to boycott EA after they got rated so low, not because they got rated low, but because of their denial of it. "screw you guys, ima goin home." should never be company policy.
Wow, was really hoping for actual surprises, story taking place in 2 timelines isn't so much a surprise as a spoiler, I'll give you the RTS thing (could be cool), and the LAN thing is something nice but hardly "surprising," cool villain should never be one of 5 surprising points(I'm surprised you worked at a common story element?). If these are the 5 biggest surprises, I'll be skipping it. Surprise me with real new elements and I may care.
Sooooo.... Here's a question... Do I need to fill out a W2 and have the income reported during tax season? I mean, that's assuming you actually make anything off it, but if you did... This AH has actually cost them my sale. They say they want to protect people who, like in D2, bought equipment from 3rd party scams, but now it just promotes it. If you want to pay to beat the game and get epic Lootz, you should have to risk getting your ID stolen.
