[QUOTE="-M117-"][QUOTE="danish-death"] No it's not as fleshed out and it rather simple why its not and you've already said so yourself. It doesn't have any novels whereas Halo does. But you states that Metroid doesn have any background info regarding the Chozo (maybe we'll get to learn more about them in a future Metroid game..) for some reason you already knew more about Samus than you could ever do about Master Chief since Bungie has made it clear that He's supposted to be this mysterius killing machine, where Samus actually has some personallity, and yet you let it out. The story in Metroid Prime 1 is one you can "gather" if you feel like, scan the various computers and you'll get to know whats going on, the same thing goes to the wall signs made by the Chozos. I do miss some talkign and reactions from Samus but oh well.. Let this be said, I dont disagree with you, however there is certainly more story than you made it sound like ;)danish-death
Gonna take issue with what you said. For one, Bungie does NOT make Chief appear as a mysterious killing machine. Even if you didnt read the novels, you at least knwo from the games that he is a enhanced soldier with the sole purpose to defend the UNSC against the covenant in missions not recomended for normal humans.
For another, Samus has 0 personality, as she never talks. You can thank lazy and the not-bothering Nintendo for that. Chief at least talks and has a form of dry humor when talking to Cortana.
I love Metroid and its universe, until I realized that it wont ever truly develop because Nintendo doesnt care. Nintendo prides themselves on creating gameplay, neglecting thigns like story and the "art". Go to people who actually take pride in storylines and knwo that a deep story keeps fans coming back like Bungie, and you have a winner.
Okay he's not a "killing machine" he's a 1-man army just like Samus. Master Chief talks, you just never gets to see his face which I think was intentionally (I'm sure I read an article about it somwhere along time ago..) You never really gets to know why Master Chief does what he does, do he just like killing or protecting the universe, for no reason? Sorry If I'm miss informed but I never finished Halo 2, I have however finished Halo 1 (a long time ago) and Halo 3. He just seems to be this "super" human who's good at killing, but does he have any personal issues to do so? Samus on the other hand does not talk in the games, which is.. lame, I'll give you that. However reading the manga serie you'll know that she actually have a personal issue with the space pirates (her parents getting killed + the Chozos..) She also has a problem or obeying orders which is probally why she's a bounty hunter, oh and she doesn't like killing innocent creatues. It's not much, but it's more than Master Chief :D Read the manga comic if you love Metroid.to explain Cheif, he does what he does without question because he respects the chain of command and has a genuine duty to "protect Earth and all her colonies". He was conscripted at age 6. Miitary dicipline is all he knows. He also obeys orders without question not only because of the chain of command, but that he knows that the Spartans are the UNSCs best chance to stop the covenant. Hes both diciplined and patriotic to his race.
