DO NOT like the idea of Madlib producing this whole album. IMO Strong Arm Steady are one of the most diverse groups in underground rap today, and to limit themselves to just one sound is pretty stupid.

Also, hopefully that awful Madlib-produced song they did with The Jacka isn't on here.

And just for those who don't know; I'm not trying to come off as a Madlib hater here. I'm a huge fan, it's just that he's about the last person I'd think of when I think of producers I want to hear these dudes rapping to.

I didn't find it to be really traditional Madlib on this one, he brings quite a bit of variety to the album. The opener for instance sounds more like something 9th Wonder would produce (granted it's better than almost everything 9th is churning out these days), where others sound like a lot like something you'd hear from Dilla ("Chittlins & Pepsi" & "Smile"). There are still definitely Madvillain-esque beats ("Get Started"), and the really dense beats that Madlib puts out on occassion ("True Champs"), as well as some that sound like they were recorded with Beat Konducta Goes to India. Point is, you can tell that Madlib produced the whole thing, but it just ends up making the whole thing feel like an album instead of just a collection of songs. This album is definitely not limited by Madlib's production.

Interesting ... I will definetely have to get back to this thread once I've gotten a chance to cop this album.

For me, though, it's not even so much about Madlib's sound potentially getting repetitive throughout the album as it is just the fact that I think Strong Arm Steady just plain are meant to rap over a different styIe of beats than what Madlib can offer. I'd love to hear a Strong Arm Steady album full of production from Joe Millionaire, D1, MG, etc.

I'll admit it's a strange mix with Madlib and Strong Arm, but in this case it makes for a great album. I had no idea that Strong Arm Steady and Madlib were even in contact, much less thinking about a collab. It's nothing classic, but just a really solid album.

There's very little I enjoy lyrically from this album outside of "Classical" and the sheer ridiculousness of the some the rhymes. I do like quite a few of the beats; a lot of them are really catchy and fit Gucci's style really well. I don't try to take "The Gooch" seriously, so I just have fun with this album and find it to be completely solid. I don't see how anybody finds Gucci Mane to be even a good rapper, but he just makes entertaining music, just like Jeezy and Rick Ross.

Sick beat by madlib and good stuff overall. I'll find this album eventually. Toriko42
It's not like it's hidden somewhere in the deepest caverns of the internet or anything.

I really like this cd, Madlib brought some heat for SAS.

I like this album a lot like I said in another thead; it's in my top 5 of the year, maybe even top 3. The production is great for the most part, especially Khalil's tracks. I wasn't really expecting this to be good so I was surprised that I liked it so much. I usually prefer Pusha T, but Malice was the better of the duo this time around for the most part. I'll listen to Clipse rap about coke and money in the ceiling as long as they keep doing it.

Agreed, this is one of the best mixtapes to drop this year. The last track is an absolute banger.

No, doesn't have that timeless feel to it; a lot of it sounds dated.
