Its called educated shopper.

You want to just play retail games offline, buy the arcade version 199 usd.

You want to be able to dl content and play online get the pro system 299 usd.

If you get the arcade and then get a HDD later you will spend 370 dollars. You might as well get the Elite for 20 bucks more.

So IGN put your thinking cap on for a change.

"Microsoft knew it had flawed machines, but it did not delay its launch because it believed the quality problems would subside over time. With each new machine, the company figured it would ride the 'learning curve,' or continuously improve its production,…. Even though Microsoft's leaders knew their quality wasn't top notch, they did not ensure that resources were in place to handle returns and quickly debug bad consoles. There were plenty of warning signs, but the company chose to ignore them."

Really because they didn't delay their launch to fix those problems?

wiistation360

Please read before replying:

Is the 360 unreliable? Heck yes. Totally.

Does that article say the 360 failure rate is 68%? No it doesnt. You got the wrong end of the stick there completely.

Does it say that it was EVER 68%, in terms of 360 consoles shipped to retailers? No.

leave that fanboy to believe or throw false info to others.

Now lets be fair and consider the use of comprehension.

Umm dude 68 out of 100 is 68 percent do the math man... seriously xbox defenders these days make me laugh.

No. You've got this all very wrong. Are you trying to make out that the 360 failure rate is 68%? Or that, of 360s actually manufactured and shipped, it ever was? Read the sentence you even quoted in the OP yourself.

No the failur erate isnt 68 percent but the failure rate is high casue if you read the article they made 100 xbox 360 68 malfunctioned and than they still gave the go on the production... Meaning at least 40 or 50 out fo 100 xbox 360 produce was malfuctioned... So what do you say now? Read the article man...

So whats the failure rate now?

Do you think MS swallowed the bullet and took care of the problem?

Are you going to buy a 360 now after the price cut?

I say failure rate has been decreased because of the new chips and such but the first year-2nd year of xbox 360 failure rate was high. Ms didn't swallow the bullet they paid 1.2billion for the rrod warrinity which could of been use for a lot of things like new exclusive games, studios, etc.

I already have one with a ps3 I stop playing the 360 after i got my first rrod which was about a month ago and sent it in for repairs a week ago cause I was lazy. Now im just waiting for it to come back so I can get my hands on Gears 2 when it comes out.

MS made some bad gambles. But they have rectified most of them.

It was unfortunate, maybe it was good for Sony because if not for RRoD Sony would be hurting even more.

That was then this is now.

Everyone should own a 360 if you like a gaming console with every gaming genre and tons of games.

Sony needs to stop trying to make buy stuff I don't want. And please update that damn controller already its a freaking dinosaur.

[QUOTE="AvIdGaMeR444"][QUOTE="linufinu"][QUOTE="-Ninja_Dog-"]

I have 2 xbox 360 and I play them 12-16 hours a day and they have never RRoD.

Of course they had some issues. But I also feel alot of these are caused by very poor ventilation and or exposing the console to direct sunlight.

linufinu

i have 5 xbox 360 and i play them 31-40 hour a day and they never RROD

I have 12 Xbox 360s and I play them for 92 hours a day.

THATS INPOSIBLE A DAY HAS JUST 91 HOURS

There is one thing missing from your statements, that is present in mine. The truth.

[QUOTE="Ingenemployee"]"Report: Xbox 360 Failure Rate Was as High as 68%" you really should specifyRotaryRX7

Read the article, not just the title.

Here's an interesting quote from it:

"Incredibly, 68 out of every 100 Xbox 360s made by Microsoft's Chinese manufacturing partners were not working properly. Even more unbelievable is that when the first batch of the console's three-core CPUs was produced, a woeful 16 percent were functional."

"...before production."
