Then why in the preview of Too Human were we given a false since of goodness by telling us you all could hardly wait to play it again.?

Kevin-V

I didn't tell you that.

But if I had spent time with a limited preview build, I would have felt the same, honestly. When Too Human hits a stride, it's fun. Zooming between lower-level enemies, slashing them up, and so on is pretty neat, particularly if someone joins you. That is how Too Human works: interesting spurts of fun broken up by poorly paced interludes and other tempo problems. Previews aren't based on ten hours with a game, and are naturally colored by the quality of the gameplay you experience. And as you should know, developers generally show the good bits :)

Can you please eloborate on the "poorly paced interludes and other tempo problems"...

Thanks.

..it doesn't get going till the end...

TH2 is going to better.

Alot of these reviews view games that are announced as trilogies harsher for some reason, kinda like looking for the "missing" parts.

A good rental.

MKLOL

Like KZ 2 is going to be better then the first? :)

Without a doubt.

[QUOTE="h575309"]Well I know something is up when Sneak King scores higher than Too Human. Now that is just so sad. If I was Dyack and saw that I might jump off a bridge.h575309

Game priced at $5, and another one at $60, is not comparable.

Not to mention each was reviewed by different reviewers.

dude, ok fine. it scored the same as Iron Man which was the biggest piece of trash I played this year. Is that better? Im not saying I agree at all. I played the demo and it is no way deserving a 5.5 unless there are some serious glitches in the final product. I thought it was pretty fun. Seems like the best 5.5 Ive ever played.

I hate to say it, but maybe he's getting jaded.

It happens.

[QUOTE="EPaul"]Nice to see a reviewer take the time to come and see the reaction to his review. I wished the reviewers of Zelda tp and Lair did this sargentbotk

Well, I AM the reviewer of Lair, which was poor then, and is barely better with its recent update. Trust me--we aren't living in a blissful world in which we don't know what people think.

In the end, if a review doesn't tell you what you want to hear, you think the site is bad, or the reviewer sucks, the game is misunderstood, and so on. I am no stranger to writing reviews that fanboys are unhappy with, but I wrtie them with passion, experience, and dedication to my craft and to the faith the audience puts in me. While I may be forever known as the guy that liked Assassin's Creed more than Metroid Prime 3 and Mass Effect, I believe exactly that, and I try to ensure that the review text leads readers to understand why I feel about the game as I do. If a game makes me love it, I want my writing to show you why, both in content and in style. If a game is mediocre, it's my job do draw you into that experience, to share those moments with you and communicate the issues in a way that forms an image before you play the game.

As for any review, the text should make sense and communicate the sum of an experience, to help someone who hasn't played a game know if that game is worth playing, knowing what they know about their tastes. Of course, our evaluations are all colored by the years of playing beforehand. Agree or not (and many will not), you can at least know that we believe in that text, and hopefully communicate clearly the reasons for those silly digits that accompany it.

Then why in the preview of Too Human were we given a false since of goodness by telling us you all could hardly wait to play it again.?

Maybe because he didn't have the full game at the time and only played the demo that was provided? :?

The problem would still be in the demo as well, what contrite point are trying to make with that silly face.

I think the game was oversold and then the rug was pulled from under us. It smells like a set up.
