Well yes I care!  Sony bragged on native 1080p gaming and for those who dish out $600 for a console should be able to play 1080p games...simple as that.  Also, if someone is rich enough to get the PS3 then the chances are he/she just might have a 1080p tv (to go along with it).  So why waste a 1080p tv set when Sony said they would take care of that?

It's not that 720p isn't great for games.  I think 360 runs best at 720p but I haven't a clue why Sony isn't shooting for more 1080p games (like they claimed).  Reason why?  Because for the owners of 1080p tvs out there I can tell you right now that a 1080p game looks far better on it.  I've played 720p games (Resistance, GeoW, etc) on a 1080p lcd and it DID NOT look as good to me as when playing on a similar 720p lcd.

I guess some ppl just love to part with their money and live off of pipe dreams.

Too bad almost all that stuff can be automated.Vandalvideo

I've heard this countless times from you.  It's like your some kinda one man army for automation or something.  But anyhow I agree with you.  The PC can be simple to install and play games provided you have the right equipment and knowledge (to get the automated stuff).

However its still not mainstream yet.  At least, not in the eyes of the casual.  This is my opinion as a 20 year pc gamer that pcs have still not totally evolved into an all-in-one solution yet, ie still can't beat the true plug and play value of a console.  Whether it technically can or not is irrelevant if the end user doesn't see it that way.  You and other hardcore enthusiasts that think otherwise can't change the mind frame of the millions out there who are misinformed (or informed).

Do you see what I'm getting at?  Besides, I really don't want the pc to become a complete plug and play solution since that would negate the overall complexity of the system.  The PC is afterall a very robust platform, which in fact relys on human user error.  This is good since it will always blossom...evolving.

Closing statement- You either enjoy pc gaming or not.  If not, stick with consoles.  If you want a console to compliment your pc gaming then by all means, do so.  But when the two begin to interchange (it's in the making) I feel they lose it's originality.  Whatever you do, just make sure you have fun!

With "mods" he probably means user created maps as this is the only thing that does not require porting code. And even this is questionable if it will see the day of light. But this would be a big step forward. F-Minus

I'm pretty sure that is not what he meant.  Mods and maps are two complete different things, don't put words in his mouth.

[QUOTE="turgore"]

I wasn't talking about the 360 if it can play crysis in DX10 I was talking about your PC . Oh damn you are right I meant Gears but for some reason i typed God. Anyway yeah i agree the PC is best for programs and internet and stuff nad is the best invention since ...fire ????...but yeah for gaming it's not all that . Unless you like RTSs and really can't stand controllers and aren't dirt poor PC gaming is for you .

No I'm waiting for the 8600 cards to be released because spending $300 on a graphics card is just plain stupid.

I'll agree GeOW is the best looking game out right now period, but that doesn't mean that pc won't/can't do something that'll look better. I'm not gonna say crysis will look better cause I'm not a n00b that goes by screenshots, and prerelease press junk.

I'm not the type of hermit that's going to say PC is ungodly and cosole newbs aren't gamers, cause well I'm also a console gamer myself. PC as gaming machines are about on par w/ consoles if you know what you're doing (I always say "PC gaming is for PC people"). When you get down to it the games, the graphics, the fun pretty much equal out. The only difference is that PC gaming is slightly more expensive anyway you look at it, but that's nullified since many of us would like a decent PC for other stuff (porn, video/audio editing, word docs).

Very intelligent, unbiased post.  I like it.  I like it alot!

PS3 has 256 mb of base ram. It has 256 mb of video memory.

To answer your question it's because they were trying to make the biggest waste of money possible.

Firelore29

I agree with that.  Frankly I don't know why they split the ram between base and video memory.  I'm also unconvinced of the Cell.  Why is it that Sony chooses to go such a propietary route that it causes the devs to work harder.  Seems to me multiplats have always suffered (whether it be PS2 or PS3).  Why not just cut the crap and design a console thats easy to work with and pump out quality titles that run good out the gate?

Yeah I've been trying to say this all along.  The Wii isn't next gen.  I dunno what gives but there's something about it that smells fishy.  I guess the millions that have bought one so far and have made it the most desirable console simply don't think it's next gen either.  Yes...yes that's it!  The Wii hasn't done anything to evolve and the gamecube was lots better off!

I love my 360 but sometimes I wonder if the ones that claim Wii is lacking power has actually had enough playtime with one?  Odds are if they did they'd be hooked and wouldn't concern themselves with "sd" or "hd".  PC games have been 1080p for years now (and with appropriate hardware good framerate) and 360/PS3 struggles with 1080p so I've heard.  Tell me again how powerful the 360/PS3 is?

Any console can handle Crysis but are console gamers prepared to handle the downgrade.Spartan070

Why not Spartan? Perhaps only in system wars would somebody say "eww the graphics arent exactly like pc or environment isn't the same". But in reality, sure I bet most everyone could care less if it remains 100% intact. If Crysis was ported to 360/PS3 then I garantee you it would be a huge smashing hit, and should be on par with a mid-high end dx9 pc (assuming the dev puts quality effort into it).

It's all about the price and games.  Why is it you don't see so many ppl with dx10 cards in their pcs left and right?  Because they need to drop in price + lack of dx10 games atm.  What'd you expect ppl to shell out over $600 for something that the 360 can currently do?  Ask next year and maybe you'll get a different response.  Besides, why not just stick with you PS2 which is much cheaper and more logical since they seem to know how to pump out AAA titles...still.
