I chose Kobe Bryant over Micheal Jordan. I did so for many reasons. For starters it is my thesis that Kobe is more skilled then Micheal Jordan. I believe Kobe is fundamentally better then MJ as John Lucas and Phil Jackson have pointed out. In his impressive arsenal he has attained mastery over a great deal of offensive weapons such as the pull up jumper, fade away, dunk, punk fake, spin move, and the off the glass move to name a few. His ball handling and shooting are firmly superior to Jordan's.

Kobe has also been nameto various defensive teams, at one time being runner up for defensive player of the year. This is in an era where the defender can't even put their elbows on the player. Jordan at around 1995 stop being the best defensive player on his team and the tough defensive assignments were assigned to either Pippen or Harper, yet despite this they stilll kept giving Jordan 1st defensive teams.

kobe has also had the displeasure of playing against Zone defenses considered illegal in Jordan's tenure. I personally find more physical defenses easier then double teams with or without the ball. Add to that was that Jordan got massive star treatment that inflated his scoring. The Jordan faction likes to point out Jordan's MVP awards. But they neglect to mention that Jordan's team won 55 times without him, that's two less wins then they had with Jordan the previous season. In addition Pippen's and Horace Grant's points per games and field goal percentages went up despite having defenses centered on stopping them when Jordan first retired. seems like Jordan's value was overated. The Jordan camp also like to point at Jordan's excessive ring count. remember that as mentioned Jordan was unable to geta ring during the 80's so he got them during the 90's. This was a time when the league had been weakened by new expansion teams trying to build good rosters and helping to disperse goodplayers (this problemwas later alleviated by foreign players). An important observation is that the three point line was shortened from 1995-1997 which no doubt helped a perimeter based team likethe bulls. Jordanaires talk about Kobe's lower career PPG but if adjusted for points per48 mins(because Kobe did not get good minutes until around his 4th season)Kobe is not too far from micheal and that's without his career being over. Lastly despite being ostracize alot Kobe has come a long way and has earned everything he has (see 1988 dunk contest).

Wow, a guy who hasn't totally drunk the Jordan Kool-aid! Thought I might be the only one (with a couple other exceptions). For the most part I've been preaching this line of thinking for the last 2 years on gamespot. Wacth out, you'll be labeled a Jordan Hater or a biased Kobe Lover, if you haven't been already. ;)

If that's what i am going to be christened because of my opinion then i will proudly accept my newly designated title ( i usually share your stance so if you if that's what you've been labeled then it's certain i am going to be labeled that too). It seems to me from previous post in this thread that you and six have a history of discussing this so i guess should thank you for preaching the truth on GS and fighting the good fight against "teh jordan is teh bast evah" folks.:D

Kobe is better. LeBron is good but Kobe's game is fundamentally superior. Kobe's a better shooter, defender, and clutch player. Kobe has one of the most fundamentally sound games of all time. He's putting on a show in The Finals while LeBron sits at home. Kobe is better.-Halftime-
HelI, Id argue that he has the most fundamentally sound game of all time.

[QUOTE="Doomtime"]I'm glad someone else finally noticed. One of the worst crowds in professional sports. andyboiii

most of the real laker fans are in the nose bleeds because the good seats are taken by most celebritites and rich people. It can't possibly be worse then fans who live in florida that don't even care about sports until their team makes the playoffs as bill simmons said in a article

"By the way, how dare a Magic fan give me crap? You root for the Orlando Magic! Were you even a fan three months ago? Back in late November, Nick Friedell wrote on Yahoo!: "I've covered several games in Orlando during the early part of the season, and there are always plenty of good seats to be had. What surprises me more than anything, though, is the general lack of enthusiasm from some of the crowds. For the most part, the crowds I've seen at Magic games are flatter than a pancake. Sure, there are some exciting moments, and, if asked, the fans are usually willing to get out of their seats and cheer. But, if it wasn't for the noise blaring from the speaker system, you would be able to hear Stan Van Gundy barking out orders on almost every possession"

So not only is Bill Simmons a Kobe hater he hates on Floridians too, that guy really has a way with getting on my badside.

The NBA is the most corrupt sport of all of organized competition (for the exception of boxing). The NBA is all about money. They let outside companies influence the salary cap (why you think a chinese company has now bought ownership into the Cavs, they will use commerical endorsement to make sure LeBron don't leave Cleveland..remember Michael Jordan taking only $1 million dollars in a contract with the Chicago Bulls so they can sign Dennis Rodman, but he was getting $30 million dollars a year from Nike). They protect their stars from getting hurt (will throw a tech foul on you if you even breath on Kobe or LeBron). They want Lakers/Cavs in the Championship for all of the tv money and rating they will receive. It will be more than if it was Denver/Orlando or even Denver/Cleveland..

The fix is in..

In addition Kobe had only the 14th most free throw attempts this season despite being the 3rd top scorer.

I have to disagree when you say you can't even breath on Kobe, yes he probably does get star treatment but not to the degree others do.

Did you watch the Cavs-Magic game last nite? Did u see what Dwight said at the end of regulation, with all of the fouls he was getting and the refs didn't call anything? He turned to the media's tables and said" If I was LeBron"

Did he get fined?

Kobe doesn't drive to the basket as much as he used to.

Regardless the videos show some calls other stars would not have gotten.
