why bother with the E6850

i dont know your budget but a good setup for overclocking would be

DFI LP DX x48 mobo

intel E2180 (or E8400) scyth ninja "copper" heatsink or low cost one would be the arctic cooling freezer 7 heatsink

HDD of your choice just stay 7200rpm or higher

crucial ballistix ddr2 800 pc2 6400 2X2Gb set

windows vista home premium 64bit

corsar tx650w psu

8800gts 512mb

Frantz22

How much would that setup run him do you think? I'm just curious because I like the look of it a lot and I'm trying to put prices together for myself :)

not to sure but here are the links just add them to your cart and newegg will calculate how much it is in total

E8400 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037&Tpk=e8400

DFI LP DX X48 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136047

crucial ballistix 2X1GB set tho unless you want to pay 109 for the 2X2Gb set

Valve, the Original Half Life set the tone for what FPS look like. pwilletts

as much as i love valve i really loled at that post since Id is what set the tone for FPS

i mean cmon back in the early 90s teenagers were having the time of ther life playing wolfenstein 3d then DOOM came out which rly shocked the workd and then it changed the multiplayer industry (er genre) with quake.

even though Id software doesnt have as much games you cant say they werent the pioneers for the FPS genre

i mean i really thought people knew that i know ppl like valve but i thought they would at least come to an agreement that Id startred it all.

besides Id is an older company then valve but that doesnt make much of a difference when it comes down to what ppl enjoy more

but still all in all valve and Id are my favorite companies and im not being biased just personal opinions (oh and rockstar) :P

well by summer i plan on building a high end pc (for gaming mostly)

i heard intel and amd are planning on relaseing new sockets well i know intel is but im not sure if AMD is moving to AM3 cuz they just relasead the phenoms so it wouldnt be a smart move would it any rumors when AM3 is coming out? i want to have the latest and greatest for this build.

CPU - AMD Phenom 9850BE (i hear it can OC to 3.1GHz) or the AMD phenom x3 8650

mobo - DFI LP DK 790FX mobo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136044

heatsink - scyth ninja "copper" heatsink or this bad boy

http://www.anandtech.com/casecoolingpsus/showdoc.aspx?i=3268

HDD - i might buy this HDD for the OS then a seprate 500GB hdd for storage but if the firmware doesnt improve ill just buy 2 raptorx hard drives and set them in raid (should i go for raid 0 or raid 1?)

http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=3291&p=1

RAM - i really want some overclocking freindly ram and im looking into the crucial ballistix 2X2Gb ram but is this pair just as overclockable as the 2X1Gb set?

ill link to the 3 pairs...so whihc of these should i buy

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=1052416064+4802&Description=Crucial+Ballistix&name=Top+Sellers

OS - windows vista home premium 64bit

sound card - azuntech x-fi predlude

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829156005

speakers - logitech z-5500 (will there be anything better thent his by summer)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121120

case - CM Stacker 832 or unless antec comes up with a better case but i doubt they will make a full tower one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119121&Tpk=cooler%2bmaster%2bstacker%2b832

power supply - corsair hx1000w psu might be overkill but i love corsairs and i think of it as an enuthisats kinda rig you know :)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139007

video card - im planning on buying the new 4870 then ill add a 4870x2 for some crossfireX (well maybe i wont buy that psu since i heard these new cards are suppose to be power effiency) any thoughts on a good psu maybe an enermax or would the seasonic 700w psu do for my rig?

well what do you think any recommmendations keep or change? anything i love to hear your opinions

also im going with amd since i dont think the new socket will be out by summer and since this is an enthusiats rig i want the latest hardware (and im liking crossfireX)

well thanks in advance :)
