If your desktop is set larger than the screen itself can support, it usually means the desktop itself scrolls a little bit when you hit the corners to show the 'rest' of the desktop.Genexi2

yes, just saw the scroll effect. so, back to being screwed

still don't understand how my PC can run a high res but PC games won't....if PCs only recognize progressive scan then why can I set the desktop to a res higher than 1080p?

You can't go higher than your native resolution which is 720p and you can't use 1080i because PCs only use progressive scan._Margulis_

ok I got a 1080iwestinghouse 27inch lcd hdtv. my 360 works well with it, displaying at 1080i. however there's a problem when it comes to PC games. I can get my 8800gts to display my desktop at 2048 x 1536 but I can't get any game to run above 1280 x 720, which I believe is the native resolution of my TV.

what can I do? I can get my PC to do high res but PCgames won't? wth?
