Thanks for the heads up. I suspect that these launch issues will clear in a few days though, maybe only hours. I think "weeks" is pushing it a little bit.

I've skipped over most of the Diablo 3 coverage over the last year and also declined my BETA invitation so that I could have that feeling of discovery when I started playing at release.

I guess that I missed the part that stated Diablo 3 was essentially an MMO...

I've known about the "always online" functionality of this game for awhile and it never bothered me because my assumption was that this was going to be like other DRM restrictions where my online connection would simply be used to ping back to Blizzards servers to authorize my purchase. I've never had an issue with "always online" DRM because I always purchase my games legitimately.

However after reading up about the game since launch yesterday I am horrified to find out that to play this game I actually need to log into an MMO esque server.

Why is this an issue?

Well my internet connection is average at best and often prevents me from playing MMOs due to a less that desirable ping. From what I know about Diablo 3 now is that the actual gameplay is governed by my connection to their servers. Diablo 3 is totally server side, what a mess!!

Essentially this is going to prevent my from playing the game, even though my intention from the start was playing solo primarily.

I would like to ask Blizzard if they ever read this thread, what benefit is it to the solo gamer to have Diablo 3 operated entirely from your servers?

Bought it on steam and just downloaded the multiplayer half. I will always come back and play it in between games, it will be around for years.

I would give it a 9.5. Absolutely fantastic multiplayer. Makes Modern Warfare feel so sterile in comparison.

I think that RE5 as a purely Singleplayer experience is a little dry, it needs to be played with a friend. Red Faction has a far more engrossing Singleplayer campaign and the multiplayer is also kick ass.

I think that if you have a friend who is willing to buy RE5 as well, then it would be worth more as it's an absolute blast to play. However if you're the loner type I would go with Red Faction.

[QUOTE="dakan45"]What would be funny? To play the game on pc with much more polish than arma 2, better optimazation and easier singleplayer missions with better design and voice acting, at that point i will laugh out loud for having a good open ended squad fps with vehicles...psn8214

You should check out the Project Reality mod for Battlefield 2. It's pretty much everything you listed as well as being more strategically complex than ARMA 2.

Ever play Arma 2?

Yeah I own it. ARMA 2 offers a truckload more in terms of content but the core mechanics in Project Reality are more complex. I could go on to explain why but you should just check it out for yourself (If you haven't done so already).

That looked fantastic, the sound effects and team chatter were sweet! All the animations were spot on as well. Aside from the fact that it was heavily choreographed I think the game is shaping up to be awesome.

Don't forget that this review is coming from the home of war sims, specifically Armed Assault and ARMA 2.
