"The only real advantage the ps3 has is the extra storage space"

He also says the Xbox360 has more memory available to use for development apart from the extra 10MB edram of the 360, because Sony's system uses more memory in non-gaming tasks. Is he wrong? or is the ps3 really simply just the weaker hardware?

he is reluctant to work on a architecture he doesn't understand... good job with the making a duplicate thread btw.

I don't see any duplicate... You think Carmack doesn't understand the architecture? are you serious? do you know who this guy is?

Yeah he's a developer who never made a single game on ps3 before.

I mean come onnn, you cant look at mgs4 and uncharted and say it's that bad...

[QUOTE="ThePlothole"]Piracy was one of the reasons Nintendo was reluctant to switch to discs. And in a way they were right to worry, because the PS1 saw rampant levels of it. Still, that didn't stop the developers from pooring in majority support. The same thing happened last gen (PS2 was hacked long before the GCN was).ThePlothole

DVD burning was rather expensive through the first half of PS2 era.

Many [if not most] early PS2 games could fit just fine on CD.

You might be confusing since dvd-rips to cds were released.

ALL ps2 games came up on dvds. They didnt neccesarly take up the entire space at first of course.

No, if you look under the technical specs. you'll see the "PlayStation 2 format CD-ROM" as one of the things that was supported. I do recall some developers employing this option earily on when DVDs were more expensive.

I wasn't actually referring to those however, but rather the fact that pirates could use CDs to pirate PS2 games.

I dont recall how long Sony used regular cds and when exactly was it hacked.

We do agree that the majority of ps2's games were on dvds, right? that's my point. burners were quite expensive at least till it's mid-era.

MGS4 required a email and new id and password. Buts its clan system is really good.

What? On planet earth? That's a freaking lie.

I have MGS4 and there's no signing involved or any of that.

Never released? Try again. It's on plenty of torrent sites as we speak.loganh92

I know, so is the alleged "boot ps2 backups exploit" which are FAKE FAKE FAKE FAKE.

Please find me one guy on the face of this planet with a ps3 that is capable of running homebrew or burned bluray discs.

[QUOTE="loganh92"]Are you serious? PS3 has already been hacked. The only reason why it isn't rampant is that BD-RW drives are around $250, so it's almost cost effective to buy them instead of $250 for the burner and $10 for each BD-R.loganh92

I'm sorry, do you even own a PS3?

That's COMPLETE BS.

Yea check all my posts and reviews, I'm usually a PS3 fanboy. One of my friends fathers had to get a BD-RW drive for work, and his son made a copy of Uncharted on it.

^^Post about release in 2006 of a playable ISO

LOL

There are hundreds of PS3 isos wondering all around the internet.

Does that mean there's a possible way of actually playing them? NO!

Your friend maybe made a copy of Uncharted - yes that's possible with any BD Burner.

Has he ever tried using his backed copy with much success? He'd be lying his butt off if he said yes.

Uhh. It says playable, and that's two years back. Google PS3 Iso and you'll find tons of playable games.

And yes it worked fine, actually. He gave it to his brother.

Trust me, no system is unhackable, it's just up to people to take the high road and not use them.

Paradox also said they gonna release an isoloader once ps3 gets to europe.

That didnt happen.

There's no such thing as @working bd-copy@.

I know there are isos out there.

I know you can burn them.

The fact remains the same: You can NOT play them. It just doesnt exist

Please tell your friend to video tape his system while it's on 2.42 firmware when he's loading his burned game.

Better yet, tell him I'm personally willing to pay to see that.

Plenty of videos, I can't list the name since it's against the ToS, but the link should tell you all you need to know.

Old news, try again.

All I can say is:

EPIC FAIL.

That so called loader was never released and stayed dorment much like Paradox's one - in other words it was FAKE.

How can that possibly have anythign to do with it? Modding and hacking was very popular on teh PS2, and look how it did.

And besides, even if the PS3 hasn't been hacket yet (which I find hard to believe,) do you really that it never will be?

BuryMe

Not so surprising I'll say.

Just as today, sony back then came with DVD which was rather expensive.

Cheap burners didnt modernate till maybe 4 years after it's release.

And please feel free to google around for proof of concept for ps3 being hacked.

I could tell you right now all results you'd find with the words "paradox", "isoloader" and "team ice" are false.
