yeah i let the cd auto run, and im assuming that it installed the vista drivers. i went on their website and tried to download the latest driver, but when i try to install it it says that the right sound card wasn't detected. im positive that my card is a Creative PCI express sound blaster X-Fi Xtreme audio. maybe i should try disconect the front panel audio from the card, install it then reconnect them, or maybe im just getting desparate. I have the worst luck when it comes to computer stuff working right the first time.

I just got a new PCI express sound blaster X-Fi Xtreme audio, and the cd drivers do not work on vista. I get perfect 5.1 sound when i let windows detect, and install, but the moment I load the cd driver to get all the enhanced features, i get no sound out of my speakers. when i turn them all the way up, i can hear faint fuzzy noises. i hooked up my front panel to it and that works fine. This is really annoying because i got this card because my onboard rear speakers were not working. This is just getting rediculous, vista has been out for almost a year and there are still driver problems, what the hell. I have uninstalled and reinstalled like 5 times already which did not help. I have gone into control panel tried to configure the speakers from there, nothing. Also messed around with the setting on the creative dash, nothing. please help me.

my PC Specs: Vista Ultimate 32, 2gb ram, 500gb SATA HDD, AMD 6400+, 8800GTS 512mb,

thanks a lot guys, this helps alot, because ive been reading ppl posting mem overclocks of 2100 mhz and i though my card was messed up since there isn't even an option to go higher. i hears 2100mhz is a good mem overclock speed, ill try that next. will i notice improvements in games if i overclock even farther lets say 800mhz for core/ 2000 shader/ 2100mhz mem. I would say the most annoying thing about oc'ing is that my fan gets loud, 80% when my tems rise to 55 C. I might change this to 80 % when at 60 C what do u guys think.

I have a 8800GTS 512mb and riva tuner won't let my take the memclock past 1465mhz. The bar ends at 1465mhz, and when i go past around 1200 a yellow caustion sign pops up over the mem icon. My current OC is 750/1900/1015. I run crysis dx10 all high, 2X AA, around 25 FPS on average which i good enough for me. just installed lost planet and it looks amazing, considering a already beat the game on the 360.

Help me get my mem clock up, so i can turn up textures to very high on crysis, i hope im correct that higher mem clock is helps specifically with large textures.

PCI-E or PCI?

There aren't that many PCI-E cards at all, and Creative don't make any PCI-E soundcards. The only one I could find was the Asus Xonar, which is over $100.

If you meant PCI though, then get what Baselerd suggested

Wrong dude, Here's a PCIE x1 Soundcard. I wouldn't recommend it though. @ OP you say you have no room for PCI slots, do u have a micro atx mobo?

Yeah, this is exactly what i need, but why wouldn't u recommend it. my mother board is an asus m2a-vm with 1 PCI-E 16X, 2 PCI, and 1 PCI 1X. i don't want to put the sound card too close to my 8800GTS 512mb, because it is already hot enough as it is.

Im looking for a great PCI 1X 5.1 sound card for under $100. recently my onboard realtek sound stopped working on vista 32, and i can't fix it so instead of bother im just going to get a sound card. I know u guysknow what is good for gaming. the realtekon board sounded kind of badwith my Z5300 so i see this as a blessing in disguise. i need a PC1 1X because my 8800gts 512mb is hugging up all other pci slots. thanks
