*Lots of words.*

I don't follow. People should stop worrying about the afterlife and worry more about improving the world we've got now. We've no idea if there is an afterlife, but it's certain that this Earth exists.

True, but if there is an afterlife, we'll be there considerably longer than we'll be here, and I'd like to have a nice stay over there.

Don't you think that as long as you try to make this life as good as possible, your next life will be good too? Isn't it all connected? (Not that there's an afterlife, but just sayin)

That IS an attempt to minimize the product that is given away. MrGeezer

No it's an attempt to keep from being ripped off by dishonest people who will claim again and again that they sill haven't gotten a free Dr. Pepper. Obviously.

It's the exact same reason why "under-the-cap" promotions have stopped listing prizes under the cap, and have instead started to list product codes that you enter in on the website to find out whether or not you won. It absolutely IS a common practice that is done specifically for that purpose. Because when you look under the cap and it says "free PS3", you're gonna make damn sure to claim your prize. But when the cap says "WZT3G56", most people will say "pfft, whatever" and throw the freaking bottle cap away. MrGeezer

Again, it's to keep it under control. They control the product by those tracking codes, rather than have crafty people manufacture duplicate PS3 winning caps and taking them to their local electronics retailer. It wouldn't be hard to take out the plastic disc inside the cap and just write "FREE PS3" underneath it, using as close to the original font as you can. Somewhere, someone, might be fooled by it. So, to quote you, "That's EXACTLY why these kinds of promotions are done online." Because they have a certain number of winners set aside anyway. There is no scam going on.

And yes, for many people, internet access IS incredibly inconvenient.MrGeezer

If they live in a place with no running water or electricity, then maybe.

Do you think that the dude working three jobs with no car can REALLY find the time to go down to the library and print out a coupon on the ONE day that Dr Pepper is giving out the coupons? MrGeezer

First of all, I'd imagine that at least one of his three jobs would have a computer he could use. What's your next excuse? "Well maybe he can't use work computers for personal reasons, or else he'll get fired?" But realistically, yes, if it means enough to someone to get a free bottle of Dr. Pepper, I bet they'll do whatever it takes. What a silly argument this has become.

Second, it doesn't take that long to print a damn coupon.

Third, I don't even think a guy who's working three jobs even cares about getting a free Dr. Pepper. Most people don't even care for that matter. Even I just bought a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper at the store today. It's cheap, and I like it. You know? Big deal. Why would I cry about not getting ONE free? :?

Anyway, we'll just let the numbers speak for themselves.

MrGeezer

And where are they?

"We" are still intolerant of other's race, gender, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs. Why is that? Is humanity destined to never reach enlightenedment? I for one have no problem with the differences between people...but after spending the morning reading some of these threads I have come to the conclusion that there is no hope that humans will do the right thing.

Your thoughts?

LJS9502_basic

I thought I already answered this question for you. Humanity will reach enlightenment when you become enlightened enough to figure out how to teach the rest of us.

I don't want to teach the rest of you.;)

Then don't complain!

You know, this thread is hypocritical anyway, because YOU'RE actually INTOLERANT of intolerance itself. You say that you are not intolerant by nature, but you are. Because if you were truly tolerant, you'd find a way to accept that intolerance is a part of life, and thus wouldn't be bothered enough by it to complain about it.

Tolerant people are at peace with the world around them, and you are CLEARLY not at peace, judging by the fact that you even made this thread.

this better not be true, im not about to switch to the knock-off "Dr. Stripes" >.> The only thing i have against Dr. Pepper is the whole chinese Democracy fiasco. I think that they expected Chinese Democracy to be delayed again and were never planning to give away a single can. rammused
It doesn't matter if that's what they expected. It happened, and they owned up to it. That's respectable. Well, at least you're not boycotting them over such a small thing.

Then please enlighten me as to HOW MANY Dr Peppers they gave away. Lets say that there are 300 million people in the USA. For them to have reasonably lived up to their promise of giving everyone in the USA a free Dr Pepper, the number of free drinks that they gave away would have to at least be something CLOSE to that number.

So enlighten me. How many Dr Peppers did they REALLY give away? Notice how the coupon was only available online, which immediately sticks it to poor people who can't afford computers?

MrGeezer

Wow you're really going off the deep end dude.

I don't have the numbers, but maybe they do. Send them an e-mail.

Poor people are not left out, because there are plenty of public access computers all over the place. They could go to the nearest library. Poor kids could use the computer at their school. There's plenty of ways, don't act like Dr. Pepper was trying to stiff-arm everyone away from a free beverage. If they really wanted to keep people from getting free soda, they'd have to come up with a lot better plan than just only having the coupons available online.

And why would poor people want a free Dr. Pepper anyway? They'd probably rather have some free damn food and maybe some new clothes!

[QUOTE="MrGeezer"]Generosity? Is that a joke? Dr Pepper wasn't planning on giving away ONE SINGLE DRINK. They were counting on Guns and Roses to NOT release Chinese Democracy.
MrGeezer

Umm, the fact that they went through with it, proves the generosity, as well as HONESTY, on their part.

Any excuses left? I love to knock them down.

I already explained to you that they DIDN'T go through with it. They specifically promised a free Dr Pepper to EVERYONE in the country. They specifically used that kind of language simply because they never thought the album would get released. Then when the album DID get released, they started crapping their pants trying to figure out a way to MINIMIZE the amount of drinks they would give away. You're saying that they are generous for trying to AVOID giving away free product? Wow, that's a new one.

What did I just say about that? They weren't trying to minimize anything. They were trying to control the undoubtably chaotic abuse that would have occured. They wanted to stay true to their word, while at the same time protecting their business.

Too hard to understand?

And if your problem was with the promise, why didn't you complain until you realized you could no longer get your free Dr. Pepper? You would have "boycotted" them right after they made the promise, if it really struck you as being something they weren't being honest about, and couldn't possibly back up. Seems like you only got mad after YOU missed out on the deal, as a result of YOU not paying attention to their giveaway rules. You're mad at yourself, and projecting your self-hatred onto them.

It's their product, and they have every right to control how they distribute it, especially during a mass giveaway.

[QUOTE="3-Legged_Man"][QUOTE="Nifty_Shark"]Dr. Pepper tastes bad. Take it out and bring back SURGE!Nifty_Shark
Why can't you just ask for Surge to be brought back, without asking for another one to be removed? :? Surge was/is a Coca-Cola product, so it's not like Dr. Pepper even interferes with it's production.

Just to make life harder for Dr. Pepper drinkers. I honestly don't care if the drink stays.

If Dr. Pepper is ever pulled from store shelves, you might not live to tell about it. It would be the apocalypse. :p
