That IS an attempt to minimize the product that is given away. MrGeezer
No it's an attempt to keep from being ripped off by dishonest people who will claim again and again that they sill haven't gotten a free Dr. Pepper. Obviously.
It's the exact same reason why "under-the-cap" promotions have stopped listing prizes under the cap, and have instead started to list product codes that you enter in on the website to find out whether or not you won. It absolutely IS a common practice that is done specifically for that purpose. Because when you look under the cap and it says "free PS3", you're gonna make damn sure to claim your prize. But when the cap says "WZT3G56", most people will say "pfft, whatever" and throw the freaking bottle cap away. MrGeezer
Again, it's to keep it under control. They control the product by those tracking codes, rather than have crafty people manufacture duplicate PS3 winning caps and taking them to their local electronics retailer. It wouldn't be hard to take out the plastic disc inside the cap and just write "FREE PS3" underneath it, using as close to the original font as you can. Somewhere, someone, might be fooled by it. So, to quote you, "That's EXACTLY why these kinds of promotions are done online." Because they have a certain number of winners set aside anyway. There is no scam going on.
And yes, for many people, internet access IS incredibly inconvenient.MrGeezer
If they live in a place with no running water or electricity, then maybe.
Do you think that the dude working three jobs with no car can REALLY find the time to go down to the library and print out a coupon on the ONE day that Dr Pepper is giving out the coupons? MrGeezer
First of all, I'd imagine that at least one of his three jobs would have a computer he could use. What's your next excuse? "Well maybe he can't use work computers for personal reasons, or else he'll get fired?" But realistically, yes, if it means enough to someone to get a free bottle of Dr. Pepper, I bet they'll do whatever it takes. What a silly argument this has become.
Second, it doesn't take that long to print a damn coupon.
Third, I don't even think a guy who's working three jobs even cares about getting a free Dr. Pepper. Most people don't even care for that matter. Even I just bought a 2-liter of Dr. Pepper at the store today. It's cheap, and I like it. You know? Big deal. Why would I cry about not getting ONE free? :?
Anyway, we'll just let the numbers speak for themselves.MrGeezer
And where are they?
