[QUOTE="flintgijoe"]So it seems most people didn't watch the video in the link.
I sure wasn't impressed, (Want to find out how Halo compares to B. Spears?, watch the video!), but it is probably good for people not really into gaming. They don't add anything new to the discussion, but they do skim over some of the common complaints. Keybord and mouse >, repetetive design (walking back through same leves).
They do bring up what is probably the biggest reason why Halo is hated on. People hate Halo becasue Halo is big. Halo is more successful then pretty much whatever their choice FPS is. On the surface, Halo is just another run and gun FPS. It isn't suprising that Hermits don't see what makes Halo so good by just watching other people play, or worse, fumbling with the controler themselves.
They fail to touch at all on why Halo is so good. (Great AI, matchmaking mutiplay, Forge, outstanding co-op, etc...). The AI really sets the game apart. YOu can go back and play the same fight over and over and it won't play out the same. You can play co-op with 2 people on the same screen, or get 4 people and play the metagame and take advantage of skulls and play for points. Co-op has been around for a long time, but it has never been so well implemented before.

Listen, a lot of us PC Gamers also have 360's, in fact PC Gamers probably have more experience playing all sorts of games rather than your stereotypical console only gamer. The majority of people that say Halo is a good game, like myself, own the game and have beat it and played the multiplayer. I'm 100% honest when I say that Halo is good, not great, and that I would much rather have Half Life 2 Episode 2 any day of the week.
Great AI? The PC has that. Halo is not any better than the majority of PC Games.
Matchmaking Multiplay? The PC has been doing online multiplayer long before the Xbox came to be, ask any PC gamer, matching players according to skill is fine for consoles, but it's not as welcomed to the PC platform as you would imagine. I would much rather have a list of thousands of servers in which I can browse through and pick off as favorites. I never got better at a game by playing with similar opponents. It was always the guys who would pound on me that got me better.
Forge? Come on man, that's the most obvious. Look no further than just about every SDK that's released with a lot of PC Games. For some fun, look no further than Garry's Mod. Point is, Halo isn't doing anything that the PC doesn't offer. Also, Find me one PC game that was given a better score because it included an SDK. You can't. Look out for UT3 to score the same on PS3 and PC, even though the PC version gives you an enormous value in having the unreal editor packed in for pleasure. Also, the fact that Garry's mod was never given recognition, and Forge is, just shows a ridiculous bias.
Co-op is Halo's one strength that I enjoy immensely. And it's the only reason I haven't put my copy on ebay. BUT, the PC has had co-op, and the most successful co-op play for the longest time, it's called MMO's! Again, playing with your buddies and having random fun is nothing new to the table. If you are looking for excellent co-op with random environments every time you play, look no further than the upcoming Hellgate London or just rely on the Juggernaut of WoW or LOTRO or Guild Wars or any other MMO on the planet. And let's not forget about Diablo 2 please.
What many of the Halo fanboys get confused with is the fact that when people say Halo is good, doesn't mean people are dissing the game. It's just NOTAS enjoyable compared the other games that the majority of the gaming world enjoy. The 9.5 that Jeff gave the game is his opinion, which he is more than welcome to. If Jason Ocampo was reviewing the game, it wouldn't have scored as high. Point is, people take GS scores by themselves a bit to serious. I couldn't imagine the hatred spewed at Jeff if he only scored it a 9.
This guy shows exactly what most PC gamers think. We are not trying to diss Halo. It's just annoying when people come on here and talk crap like "Halo is the the best FPS ever even vs PCs!" because it obviously is not true.
8.0-8.5
I'm not bashing HL or anything, but its pretty much worthless if you have the past games, and Portal seems like a couple hour arcade game. While episode 2 is bound to be interesting, but if episode 1 is to be a reminder, its gonna be pretty short.
If they actually made a whole new remake of the past games, then it might go to 9.0-9.5, but its simply the exact same thing with better textures.

HEY THAT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE HALO 2 AND HALO 3! HOW FUNNY!
I agree with you.
Crysis is overhyped. It's nothing special.
TheStatusQuo
Kinda like the Halo series amirite?
Although having played the Crysis beta I can assure you it IS something special unlike Halo.

Get the **** out. Right now.
What other FPS has packed in a better deal than Halo 3?!
The Orange Box.
Two of those games I've played before. Team Fortress 2? Halo 3 still has better multi-player, Episode 2? Nah, the first one wasn't that good. Portal? Sorry, logic is for nerds.
Team Fortress 2 is already aknowledged by even Halo fans to being superior than Halo 3 multiplayer. Episode 1 wasn't good? I thought it was pretty freakin good for a first and 2 will just be better. Oh and sorry that Portal isn't for mindless people like yourself. It takes a brain sorry.

Half_life 2 with Source packed a lot lot more punch then any of the Halo's.
Orange Box will pack a FREAKIN LOAD more punch than Halo 3.
Crysis does NOT take a 3000 computer. A 1000 computer can play it on HIGH (key word HIGH. not ULTRA HIGH)
but sitting on couch while shooting is much much better than sitting on a chair while playing with the dumb mouse keyboard combination... ByFly
No.
[QUOTE="3ggman"]Because like you said yourself they're the exact same game (except maybe the graphics and controls). That's an exception =/-Tretiak
Ah, of course. Feel free to ignore any exceptions in order to fit your thesis. And them being the same game doesn't do your point any good, by the way - in fact, them scoring the same proves that the standards for shooters on the Xbox 360 are no lower than the PC. Now, this isn't me saying that this has always been the case; I am well aware that, in the past, what you are saying was completely true. But the differences are minimal today. The Xbox 360 is getting some great shooters, whichever standards you apply to them.
Yes the standards on the Xbox 360 for shooters ARE lower than on computer. FPS on the computers have a lot more competition to go against. Bioshock getting the same score doesn't prove anythin cause BOTH ARE EXACTLY THE SAME.
