I know i broke the rule of bumping old threads

The reasons i am against DD mainly for PS3 and xbox 360 is:
1) set prices, if the only place we can by our games from is the online store it will be more difficult to find good deals,
There will no doubt be 3rd party online distrubutors just like there is currently.
nope there will be set prices think of buying MP3 Music via itunes, Amazon or HMV they all sell the downloadable MP3's at the same price, selling games on the PSN will be no different
2) re-sell: how do i buy a second hand DD or sell/part exchange for a new game
Oh well, re-selling is nearly as bad as piracy, too bad, its justified you should lose this right... dodgy companies 1 uping the devs while you get something for cheaper than you should.
i completely disagree, why should we loose the right to sell something we no longer want, i sell crap games that i have bought and use them as part exchange for new games. it is hardly doggie practice respectable companies do this practice i.e Game Uk, Amazon, gamestation, cash converters etc
3)taking a game around afriends, since the game will be locked to my console it would mean lugging my console around rather than a game
360 has a portable HDD... PS3 can use 3rd party hard drives... put 2 and 2 together ... you have all your games on a hdd isntead of stacks of discs... same concept.
This i might budge on fair dues, but whyshould i risk carrying around the sole of my console as opposed toa more durable disk?
4) download limits gift and curse i think Sony allow you to download upto 5 times, whats to stop people logging into their friends console downloading the game for them 5 happy game owners with 1 purchase then follows the draconian measures to try and counter this which usually hits the legitmate customer more.
you evaded this point.
i.e me who is on their 3rd PS3 console (though i would hope Sony database would sort me out)
and since i have heard not all console read direct from external harddrives what happens when i replace my HD thats full? please don't tellme this don't happen i have a 250gb HD and it only has 8gb left(Play TV)
Good solutions to the above then maybe i might be wonover,
HDD thats full? you just have your Tag/PSN ID ... but with no downloaded items on it... put the other one back in when you want wants on there... or you know.. delete stuff and redownload, you earn those "1 of 5 downloads" back when you uninstall it.
So your actually going to stand by this argument? that i am to delete games and if i want to play it re-download the game which could take xyz amount of time (think of how large blu-ray games could be)then delete it after that day,as opposed to just putting in a disk?

We, at least I don't care for which system is better arguments.
I play games for fun and neither have the patience nor desire after long day of work to care for constant fighting over which game or system are better...
Sorry mate, System Wars forums are that way >>>>>>>>>>>>.
This PS3 forums are for people who discussing games and having fun, which is what games are design for..
^ ThisHere is my two cents. The 60GB is very reliable, just keep it clean dust free and in a wide open area on a hard surface (no carpet underneath. Not in a contained space, etc.) Ive read on many forums and sites that the 60GB has the highest YLOD rate of all the PS3's but this is mainly due to the fact that people didn't follow the instructions of keepin it in a open space and off carpet. So even though the 60GB has some higher failure rates, its mainly because people are to stupid to realize that it needs to breathe. If you get a 60GB PS3 i can almost guarantee you, you wont regret it. It has the best backwords compatibility of all the PS3s if you love playing PS2/1 games its the system for you. Personally. I have the 80GB PS3 (not a new one the 1st Generation 80GB PS3 the one with the Backwords Compatibility and 4 USB slots) I couldn't be happier with it. Does everything the 60 does. And I haven't run into a single PS2 game or 1 for that matter it couldn't tackle. RobertHorry5Not true, I looked after both my 60GB PS3 and it is stored in an open space and i hover the vents every week. but they failed some people are just to stupid to realise ish happens. but like i said Sony customer service was brialliant so if you can get a hold of the 60gb model go for it i got it and love it. p.s. thenot all PS2 games i had difficulties with one of the burnouts, thats why the rating system to allow users to know which games are most likely not to work.
There is supposed to be a Separate Co-Op Mode. No word on whether that includes Split-Screen or not... Nobody cares about us Split-Screen Gamers anymore...Kruegmeistertell me about it, the only other option is the wii Even the recent Bond game only had split screen option for the Wii
Yep i migrated from Nintendo
I was/am a Nintendo person through and through,
Ihad the PS1 sold it for a N64,
bought a GameCude (which i love) and my cousin bought me the PS2,
i bought the Wii (family console), then later bought a PS3which is my console
sold the Wii and bought a 360 as the replacement family console (thinking about it properly i should of bought another PS3)
If Sony are still making consolesnext gen, high probability i will probably get that to.
downside is i have never owned a Sega console except the gamegear (poor choice i know)
ok i think i got you now, 1st off i was not even aware you could play PS3 games on the 360, if the hacked 360 you have allows you to do this then kudos to you. but i would not be too surprised if it was clearly deemed illegal, on the basis that whilst you have a copy of the game you do not have the console specific copy of the game, the standard Manufacuters spec of the console would not allow you to play the game therefore you would have broken a few terms and conditions which you agreed to to get the PS3 version of the game running on your xbox. if you are talking about buying a 360 version of the game backing it up then returning the game in exchange for the 360 version of the game you still do not own an offical copy of the game so it would suspect if caught it would be deemed illegal. How can I be more clear. I buy game brand new or used to play on my playstation 3. But a lot of my friends have a 360. Instead of buying a game (COD4) for both the playstation and xbox, I buy an original copy of the PS3, and get a back up for the Xbox. Now it is illegal to play backups if you do not own the copy. But if I own the original for playstation3, and have a back up copy on the xbox, is that illegal. That's what I'm asking, I really do not know how to make it more clear

You don't have to get a wi-fi adapter or an extra controller for the 360, though. You make it sound as though it's a requirement, and you and everyone else knows that it's obviously not. I could say that you have to buy a wireless keyboard for the PS3, and an HDMI cable, headset, etc... These extra accessories are nice, but they're not required.[QUOTE="Doolz2024"]
[QUOTE="watblud"]
Well by the time you've bought the wireless adapter, extra controller, charger etc for the xbox the prices are very close. I've got both so yeah there was very little price difference, not to mention the xbox released over a year earlier so has had more time to drop in price.
When i got my xbox on the first xmas upon release it cost in total £400 the ps3 cost me the same on its first year of release...

I bet you $$$ that if Sony said, "ok then... we are going to sell the ps3 with no wifi, charge $50 a year for PSN, give you a controller that has batteries you have to keep buying, no internet browser, no media storage readers besides USB, and regular DVD versions of games that require additional discs for installing to match the blu-ray version of Sony Exclusives.... sell you that PS3 for $299. PEOPLE WOULD BE OUTRAGED!!!! Even though that's the "standard".
^ This
the PS3 is not overpriced at all, the problem being MS pakaging of the 360 isquite smart, sopeople are unable to compare actual like with like their comparing console with console, thus making the PS3 look insanely overpriced,a part of me actually wishes Sony would make the PS3 slim with the suggestions you mentioned above and price it at360price rangeandsee what the people say next.
The only downside isobviously if they give up theBlu-Ray then developers wouldbe stuck between blu-ray games and non blu-ray game, 9/10 times especiallyon multiplat games non blu-ray would win.
actually thinking about iti remember reading some of the reactions when Sony removed some of the features on the orginal 60gb consoles lol
