Although I enjoy the new Cod games, I kind of like playing a game for more than a year?

The problem I have with moral systems is, and the article is right on this one, that morality is constantly changing, and isn't always black and white. What one group of people might think is morally correct and just, another group of people, or even just another person might think otherwise. Although there are some widely excepted standards when it comes to being morally "right", we still are influenced by different moral choices based on different cultures and societies. Since we live in such a cosmopolitan world, and are constantly interacting with different cultures, our moral ethics are no where near black and white any more.

What mommy and daddy have been telling you as a kid might not be moral anymore or even politically correct. For example, say when you were little, you grew up in a small home. Your parents always told you to respect other people, and "treat them the way you want to be treated". Now youre all grown up and are in the business world. (Out of the story for one second, human nature also comes into play here. As portrayed in many greek tragedies, and other works of literature and drama such as Shakesperian dramas, human nature is morally corrupt. We can easily be corrupted by one or many flaws in human nature, such as greed, vengence, and lust to name a few. Although we can learn to avoid/ignore these feelings, they are still there. This comes into play when designing a moral system in a game.) Your close friend, and CEO of your company wants you to seize land in another country, while a political conflict is occuring, so when it ends, you will be able to develop the property and sell it for a hefty profit. Of course, the land still belongs to the local people, but since you have connections with the government of that country they would be able to remove the residents from the land. Now you run into a multitude of choices here. You could do what your friend told you, you could not, but the choices branch far out from their, as do the concequences of every action you do. Wether your action results in a comment from your friend or something bigger there is a reaction to every action

In order for a game to accurately portray a realistic moral system, it would have to touch on all the possible results, and definately consider the backround, point of view, culture, and place in society of characters. In addition, developers would also have to consider the setting of the game to gain further insight on the way characters in the game should be thinking.

I believe the Metal Gear Solid series intertwines story and gameplay quite perfectly.

I think this will be good for nintendo, as well as consumers.
