And I never new video game adiction was so serious. Thank you Gamespot for informing me on this matter. Although coming from gamespot, this did make me crack up.
The last bit really got to me. It's true that game developer's try to 'play it safe', but it's the games that step beyond the boundraries, the games that you've never seen before, and are unique in their own way, that are remembered, loved, and honored. Think of Super Mario Bros, Final Fantasy, Monkey Island, KOTOR, Grim Fandango, innovative games that will be remembered forever, the beginning of gaming, where everything was unique. Now game developer's found out what works, and that's why they make the same types of games over and over again; in fear of bankruptcy, and losing money. That's my we see 3,4, even 5 variations of basically the same game. I mean, a lot of the games that come out today are fun and all, but it would be awsome to have a few more amazingly unique games, that really stand out from them all.
wow, I remember playing GTA Vice City and thinking the graphics looked amazing! It just shows how much technology has improved in just a short 10-15 years.
