[QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="onewiththegame"] i mean in someone's home. of course they'll be in the stores collecting dust like cds lmao I don't know what to say to this crazy talk, you haven't seen a DVD in 2 years? 2 years ago did you go blind?2Chalupas
The facts are DVD's still outsell digital movies by a factor of several multiples.
I don't think anyone is going to argue that eventually digital is going to finally take over, but to say that "you haven't watched a DVD in 2 years" just tells me you don't know anything about films or movies.
I can say the same thing about music. I have bought maybe 5 CD's at most in the last 10 years. Why? Because I literally know nothing at all nor have any interest anymore in new music... of course that applies to both digital and physical format. I just don't pay attention to or buy music at all period, I'm cool with all the CD's I bought in the 90's. I still listen to them. With films I do pay attention and have an interest, and thus I buy blu-ray. I can't imagine anyone that actually has an interest being satisfied with "solely" digital formats. It's just not acceptable... (yet).
man what u r saying makes no sense. movies r experienced in theatres and if not, u stream or digitally download them. i've seen well over 100 movies over the last 2-3 yrs so that completely blows ur theory out of here. i've probably spent more over the last 2 yrs on movies then games. then when u account for the fact the amazon now has a streaming site along with maybe 15-20 other mediums where u can stream and/or download movies that u either rent and/or buy, there is no way in hell people r buying more dvds.[QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="omho88"] Lagging wise, MS has no an advantage .. which is the most important thing in the online experience .... interface wise, I believe Sony will tweek the PSN UI to have a better look, more responsiveness. Content wise, let's just say MS is out of the game.omho88so basically ur going hardcore fanboy this morning, cuz u must be smoking something strong if u think psn will be better than a bigger and more fluid live. and with 300,000 dedicated servers, lag wont even be a small problem anymore. I really dun care, stick with ur Xbone :) . im getting both. live is a far better service tho so my online gaming will be done on the box guaranteed
[QUOTE="McStrongfast"]
I'm already paying for PS+. Unlike Xbox Live, it has provided me with value.
[QUOTE="dogfather76"]
I will probably end up with both. Even thouigh I like PS+ and the free games they offer, I still think of Live as the better of the two. Say what you want about MS, but Live is just a smoother, more enjoyable interface than anything Sony has been able to put together.
2Chalupas
That's something Microsoft's generally better at. If that's what you care about the most I suppose there is some value to it.
While PS3 definitely lacked "smoothness" in several areas the 360 did better (game installs, navigating the store, etc), it's not a given that will carry over to the PS4/Xbox One.
Sony came out and said a huge focus of their PS4 design is "immediacy" and quickness. They have a 2nd CPU built in just for background downloads and multi-tasking. I believe Xbox One went a similar direction.
I think it's a "wait and see" approach on this one, there's definitely no reason to just assume Xbox One will even have an advantage here. For gaming experience, the PS3 was already neck and neck. It is just the "other things" where the PS3 was lacking. So long as PS4 nails those down, and brings the gaming experience to next gen... I'm quite sure PSN+ will be the far better value. Definitely if we continue getting the amount of content that PSN+ has been delivering. The value proposition is actually not even close, PSN+ wins hands down.
r u serious? the difference between the xbl interface and quality on 360 was far superior to psn. that's why i only played 1 player games on my ps3. and with 300,000 dedicated servers for live, that battle will be even harder to win for sony for the next decade[QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="parkurtommo"] Hardly anyone? If millions of people aren't enough, then you have serious issues.onewiththegameso ur saying dvds outsell digital downloads? i dnt even know one person who still owns a dvd player outside of a console. that's crazy. last time i saw a dvd was 2 yrs ago I don't know what to say to this crazy talk, you haven't seen a DVD in 2 years? 2 years ago did you go blind? i mean in someone's home. of course they r collecting dust on the store shelves like cds lmao
Sorry not everyone has netflix and i see dvd's in walmart all day[QUOTE="pcgamingowns"][QUOTE="RR360DD"] so ur saying dvds outsell digital downloads? i dnt even know one person who still owns a dvd player outside of a console. that's crazy. last time i saw a dvd was 2 yrs ago2Chalupas
Even if you have Netflix, Netflix pretty much sucks.
It hardly gets new releases, and has a tiny catalogue of the top "all time" films either. Netflix is a very small sampling, as is Hulu+ which is even worse (except at least Hulu+ has a huge selection of foreign films on Criterion channel).
The other option is $2.99/day to rent a broader selection on Vudu or some other similar service, but I'd rather pay $10 to own the blu-ray than $3 to rent an inferior digital version. I sure as f$@% am not going to pay $10+ to "own" a digital copy so long as the physical copy is still the far superior format. At least the physical copy conveys an ACTUAL ownershipe whereas digital does not...
Streaming = more aggressively compressed video and compressed/lossyxsound. Blu-ray = 7.1 uncompressed mix, and dramatically superior video bitrate and compression. I didn't pay for my TV and speakers to be playing compressed internet videos. :lol:
ctfu man i gotta rehash my u must be smoking something quote. u can download and stream blu ray and hd movies. there is nothing superior about a disc fam, its just a disc. the content displayed is the same no matter if its digital or notPay for PS+ or Live?
Some people could afford paying for both, but it's not even worth it anymore. I believe more ppl will stick to only one service.
Imo, PS+ is the smart choice, it offers more, even at the moment, it was a smart move from Sony wether you liked it or not.
xbox one has 300,000 dedicated servers...i dont think ps4 online is going to offer the better service. Lagging wise, MS has no an advantage .. which is the most important thing in the online experience .... interface wise, I believe Sony will tweek the PSN UI to have a better look, more responsiveness. Content wise, let's just say MS is out of the game. so basically ur going hardcore fanboy this morning, cuz u must be smoking something strong if u think psn will be better than a bigger and more fluid live. and with 300,000 dedicated servers, lag wont even be a small problem anymore.its basically going down the same path as movies and music. hardly anyone buys dvds and even less people buy cds. thats the future of gaming. there may still be disc here and there but it will be mainly digital[QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="pcgamingowns"] im pretty sure it will never be all digital because internet isnt avalible everywhere2Chalupas
DVD isn't nearly as bad as CD though - at least not not nearly enough to claim "hardly anyone buys DVD". The difference is the cataloge of music on itunes is HUGE compared to the relative lack of selection of movies.
I think it's safe to say most people truly interested in films, are still buying what they want on blu-ray (and to some extent, DVD even though DVD should be obsolete by now). Whereas I'm not sure you can even say that about "music fans" anymore. The most hardcore probably buy on vinyl in growing numbers, rather than CD.... and the number buying on CD has been far surpassed by digital.
In the future, most likely all formats will give way to digital. But so far the "digital catalogues" haven't caught up for films to really replace physical formats. Not in the same way that it happened for music.
the point i was making is that digital content has already taken over movies and music so the next logical step would be games within the next 3 yrs. streaming services and digital downloads r even replacing cable and satelite tv for a lot of people[QUOTE="AD216"][QUOTE="me2002"]did MS ever mention the Cloud in their E3 conference?me2002a few times what did they say about it? it would basically make the graphics better and that the computational power was 10x stronger than the ps3
