Im english and i don't usually tip. Only because i understand that depending on the restaurant, the "service charge" thats added to your bill contains a tip for the waiter included automatically. Not understanding the american culture of tipping your waiters, i once left a restaurant w/o tipping only to hear the waitress complain to herself as i left. I felt incredibly guilty once i found out what id done wrong.

While there has been a positive correlation between violent videogame players and violence caused by these people you cant tell whether violent videogames are actually causing any problems so i don't think that much progress is going to be made on that front.

The problem im worried about, that ive stated before elsewhere, is the fact that as videogames become more mainstream more people are exposed to them, which means more people are offended by them which in turn leads to more censorship. You can see evidence of this now, with games causing controversy before they are even released, whereas 10 years ago it was substantially harder for a game to be banned/blacklisted and/or censored. In some countries, notably austrialia, any videogames w/ a mature rating are banned for sale and this is only likely to become more widespread as more people start gaming.

I think that w/ more opposition gaming is going to have to change but whether this is for the best remains yet unknown...

"you could use that argument for anything"

exactly my point. There is no limit to what could be censored!

and its going to be a while before videogames have a bit of a clampdown but it will happen with gaming in its current state, gaming will adapt and evolve for the future, wheter or not this is a good or bad thing we will have to wait and see.

starwarsjunky

i should make a thread about this in GGD, see what people have to say about it.

forgive me for my noobishness but whats GGD? I haven't heard that term before

"Parents have been b****ing about games since I was a kid. Nothing has really changed here. I don't expect it to get any worse."

Games being more mainstream = more kids

more kids = more b****ing parents

more b****ing parents = more pressure to change.

"the US is one of those countriesbut you could use that argument for anything, like the fact that marijuana is banned here. or maybe they'd find a way to make it much more difficult to get certain games? and in australia, most M-rated games are already banned."
