[QUOTE="AIRWALKTDK666"][QUOTE="starwarsjunky"]i get the feeling that very soon, we're gonna see a big time "war against videogames" :?starwarsjunky
While i don't think it will go to the extent that a "war" would imply i can see a slight crackdown on more explicit videogames in the future too. Its inevitable. with video games becoming more mainstream more people while be aware of them. More people aware means more people offended which means more censorship.
However, i think it won't crackdown for a long time, at least not while Duke Nukem is still alive lol
well war may be too strong of a war, but i wouldn't be surprised the the gov't comes up with some bill that gets a lot of support to eliminate M rated games, or something like that. or just a lot more censorship, maybe. look at how practically every video game has been getting some kind of controversy lately. someone's gonna try to do something.Oh, there is no denying that someone is gonna try something eventually but the question is just how far will the crackdown go? If you can eliminate an M rating where does it stop? For example in many countries it is illegal to advertise smoking on TV in case it influences children.
could you not apply the same argument to videogames and ban protagonists from smoking in case it influences the child and teen fanbase that dominates the videogame market? What about alcohol, drugs, nudity and violence? Violence is far more prevalent in videogames than in movies (not saying thats a bad thing) but i can see someone making a large case for violent videogames in the future, even more so than what we see now.
oh dear, i seem to have deviated from thepoint i was trying to make...
