in order to do co-op in Dark Souls you will need to do a few things. First off you will need the White Sign Soapstone, Also if you are trying to summon you must of used humanity to turn yourself human again. The second thing you will need to do in order to play multiplayer in Dark Souls is beat the Taurus Demon.

Why all the pre-reqs? Unless everything they mention happens right in the beginning of the game, I dont see why they'd make it a pain to play with your friends.

This is actually what bothers me about these games. It is just the little things like this that make it too much to deal with...

not the game for you then. i dont see how not being able to play with friends is a deal breaker for anyone.... just 6 short years ago, before the 360 and PS3, multiplayer games practically didnt exist outside of halo. If it wasnt a fighter or a sports game, you pretty much werent playing it with a friend. how times have changed. besides, its not that the game design is unintentionally obtuse and hard to use.... it is MEANT to not allow you to play with friends. its the game designers vision of how you are supposed to play the game... you cant argue with that. you can either accept that and enjoy the game, or choose not to buy it.

i did not realize you had to be human to summon other players.... NO WONDER i havent seen more than 2 summon signs in 10 hours of gameplay. im freaking hollow all the time because humanity is almost non-existent and dieing so frequent.

It's hard to say. My favorite stories recently are Mass Effect and Halo.

halo has a story!?!

Next your gonna ssay the Halo movie has a director. Yawn.

apparently this went way over my head....or it is a very asinine comment i have played all 3 halo prime games, and halo reach.... none really had a story beyond "aliens are attacking, you must kill them!" yet this guys is saying it is his favorite story of all time. i find that... sad actually.

[QUOTE="nutcrackr"]Do not buy this game, this is an awful awful mess. nutcrackr

Because of the texture loading or do you have other problems with it?

Framerate problems like the game dropping to 20fps when I just move around. Enemies and buggies flashing (going invisible, and lots of corruption type stuff where the environments flash. The texture pop-in is the least of my worries but obviously looks bad. Btw this is with an Radeon card, I don't think the nVidia cards have these problems. If you have ATI though do not buy this game.

NVIDIA cards still have the texture pop in, although not to the degree that ATI cards do. Honestly, with all the crap that ATI cards have gone through lately, i dont see why anyone buys them anymore. seems like out of every 5 PC games that are released, 3 of them will have major issues with ATI cards.

i cant say i am disappointed in RAGE, because i never had any expectations for it in the first place. IMO ID makes *amazing* engines, but has failed to make a compelling game since about Quake Arena. Rented it to check out IDTech 5, and wow, it is indeed amazing looking. I thought megatextures would be a complete gimmick like they have been in the past (quake wars anyone?) but you can truly tell the difference in this version of the engine. The game, however, continues to not impress. Generic "go here and kill these" quests coupled with (so far) a horribly uninteresting storyline that might as well have just been a side chapter to a fallout game (considering how nearly identical the premises are), provide little incentive to keep playing. All of this just furthers my plea for ID to retire from game design and go full steam into game engine construction from now on.

only thing im really dissappointed in is the online community for Dark Souls on 360. the online community for Demons Souls on PS3 was superb, with people always having summoning signs down to help others. I have put in a good 10-11 hours into Dark Souls so far, and seen 2 summoning signs so far, and neither were by a boss (the twin gargoyles.... *shudders*). having a blast with the game though. there is something to be said about a game where you can make great progress for 2-3 hours, and then hit a total roadblock and make absolutely no progress for the same amount of time or more, but you keep playing. eventually you just "get it" and the difficulty you were having seems so utterly dumb you cant believe you got stuck in the first place. For me, this was #1 the plague rats just below the bridge with the dragon. I swear i died to their poison probably 15 times before i figured out that hey.... using a spear on them makes it SO MUCH EASIER. #2 the twin gargoyles.... i easily died 15-20 times on these because nobody had any summoning signs to help me out. finally i put one down, was almost instantly summoned, and we beat the boss with ease. this frustrated me even more because i wasnt able to get the same help. Then just for the hell of it, i restored myself to human form, went back to the boss and noticed a summoning sign on the ground.... low and behold it was the Sun Knight from earlier in the level. With his help, the fight was tough, but i finally beat the boss and got to ring my first bell! dark souls is truly a one of a kind game. the satisfaction you get from simply playing and overcoming obstacles proves that with tight game design and a healthy level of difficulty you dont need to spoon feed players epic "lewtz" to make them happy. They can make their own rewards just by being able to play the game. TAKE NOTE "modern day" MMOs....

Not false. Just because there are a couple of slightly larger files does not mean that MS doesn't have a required limit. SexyPorkins

EA has demos 700 mb larger on Xbox Live. So they aren't even close to the limit with BF3. So your conclusion is wrong.

adding higher resolution textures.... or full physics... would probably increase the file size a hell of a lot more than 700mb. the features are a package, and adding them probably would increase it beyond the size limit. you cant add 90% of a texture file and have it display properly/at all....or have 90% of a physics engine. its all or nothing. your conclusion is wrong.

[QUOTE="AWolfoftheCalla"][QUOTE="HilbillyRokstar"]Well, you know what opinions are like . . .everybody has one.

firefox59

yeah unfortunately my opinion is backed up by several boring, generic gameplay videos... which are pretty solid proof.

This is precisely the problem. Devs try something new and you all go "oh its the same generic shooter" and no one buys it. Great games like Singularity, Wolfenstein, Crysis 2 and others get passed over but then you guys go buy COD and Battlefield every year and those other games get no credit and don't get sequels. Then RPGs like this come out where the devs purposely do things that make players play the same parts of games over and over again and no one sees it or calls them on it. And once again great RPGs like Resonance of Fate, Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey etc get passed over because Dark Souls is the new cool shiny game that everyone bandwagons and buys. It has to suck being a dev seeing your game **** on while these other games inexplicably make bank. *End rant*

oh dear.... please elaborate on what rage is doing that is new and ground breaking.....

nothing? oh ok, so we will just it together with every other shooter.

fyi, battlefield doesnt come out every year.... or every 3 years.... it has been 6 years since a proper battlefield game (BF2) came out.

dark souls does everything new, there is no other game like it except demons souls. your argument fails on all fronts....
