This is actually what bothers me about these games. It is just the little things like this that make it too much to deal with...

Blueresident87

not the game for you then. i dont see how not being able to play with friends is a deal breaker for anyone.... just 6 short years ago, before the 360 and PS3, multiplayer games practically didnt exist outside of halo. If it wasnt a fighter or a sports game, you pretty much werent playing it with a friend. how times have changed. besides, its not that the game design is unintentionally obtuse and hard to use.... it is MEANT to not allow you to play with friends. its the game designers vision of how you are supposed to play the game... you cant argue with that. you can either accept that and enjoy the game, or choose not to buy it.

The multiplayer issue didn't bother me, it was the whole 'soapstone' thing or whatever...that's wildly unnecessary. Just let people play multiplayer or not.....

soapstone? its just an item that allows you to be summoned by players..... how is that a problem?

[QUOTE="doubalfa"]no matter the y way you see it one should be able to play with their friend if the game is online capable.... imagine a board discussion: - "hey what about co-op can we include that?" - "yes, but only with randoms so no one can get help from their friends" - "but what if the player does want the help, or have fun with a friend on Dark souls?" - "fun? the only fun one can get while playing this game is when they're dead! they need to bleed their eyes because that's the way I wanted it to be"

no they shouldnt, if the game designers dont want you to. end of story.

[QUOTE="MoltenTricoal"][QUOTE="AWolfoftheCalla"]i was until i decided to get dark souls. glad i did, amazing game. afraid batman is going to be a rent for me.... or a christmas present.

I don't really wanna go to to Wikipedia right now, so in a nutshell could you tell nme what dark souls is about?

it is sort of a masochistic game. it is intentionally brutally hard. The entire objective of the game is to make your way through the games open world environment... which is comprised of dungeons around a central hub (firelink shrine or something like that) and just survive. You will die early, and often. death is a central feature of the game. you are MEANT to die repeatedly, and every time you die, you will learn a little bit more about the game that will help you live a little longer. i have probably put in 15 or so hours into the game, finally made it out of the undead castle place, and have died probably in the range of 30-35 times. ill sum up features here: -medieval/fantasy setting -tight, responsive combat -brutally hard but fair difficulty -repetitive trial and error gameplay -incredible sense of risk/reward -revolutionary integration of multiplayer/community features if you like extremely challenging games, are looking for an experience unlike anything else you have played, DONT need to play with friends to enjoy a game, DONT need to be spoon fed rewards to enjoy a game, and dont mind banging your head against a wall for hours until you finally reach that eureka moment when you figure out how to beat a boss or traverse a particularly difficult part of a dungeon.... at which point you are rewarded with NOTHING beyond the satisfaction of FINALLY KILLING THAT MOTHERF'ER!!! then Dark Souls is probably for you.

[QUOTE="AWolfoftheCalla"][QUOTE="nutcrackr"] Framerate problems like the game dropping to 20fps when I just move around. Enemies and buggies flashing (going invisible, and lots of corruption type stuff where the environments flash. The texture pop-in is the least of my worries but obviously looks bad. Btw this is with an Radeon card, I don't think the nVidia cards have these problems. If you have ATI though do not buy this game.OgreB

NVIDIA cards still have the texture pop in, although not to the degree that ATI cards do. Honestly, with all the crap that ATI cards have gone through lately, i dont see why anyone buys them anymore. seems like out of every 5 PC games that are released, 3 of them will have major issues with ATI cards.

Please back this statement up with facts. I have 5970s and this is the only game that has caused me any problems.

borderlands... the witcher 2....brink.... i can name atleast a dozen games in the last 3 years
