And game review sites are supporting this and telling us not to panic when we are REQUIRED to be monitored on a daily basis by a video game console, and are unable to do what we want with OUR PROPERTY. IDC what Microsoft promises they do with the data, Ananymous has all ready proved that their servers are hackable, and their consoles are hackable, especially if they are always online, and EVEN MORE especially if they are streaming data to and from the cloud.
@rgish @A_Rabid_Dog Not for life. That is also a big problem with people. You should buy what serves your needs and provides you entertainment. My point is that Microsoft is trying to take any liberty you have away from you. Sony isn't doing this (and no one likes nintendo, lol), so I'm going with sony this generation. But if they screw things up too down the line, it's not for life.
@freedom01 @A_Rabid_Dog That's my point, nothing depends on the games. I'm not going to buy a $600 console to play a handful of MAYBE good exclusives, while the console itself limits me from doing anything else. The sale of a console should not "rely on the games", it should rely on the console itself being built correctly. If you buy the console just to play a game or two exclusive to that, it's a waste of money and you are supporting this ridiculous concept of DRM.
@sexyeyes79 @A_Rabid_Dog It actually infuriates me seeing articles on game sites like IGN that we should not panic about the console yet, because they havent showed the great games yet. THAT'S NOT WHAT IS PISSING EVERYONE OFF. The console itself is flawed beyond belief and has taken archaic concepts of DRM and turned them into a modern adaptation. This shit needs to die and die quickly.
I don't understand the people still willing to buy this console. I get their arguments that "xbox is just offering more", and yes that is true, but they are TAKING MORE AWAY on top of that. You cannot switch your hard drives. You cannot "borrow" games. You cannot buy used games cheap. You cannot play ANY 360/arcade games from the old system. You are required to have a monitoring device active and connected to the internet daily. They are even pushing "cloud" based gaming, which is also always online.
They have done nothing to deny these claims, and every single one of them is a step backwards for the industry.
No one gives a shit that they only showed the media. It's extra usability, fine, whatever. We know they will show games, whatever. The problem is that the console itself is so ass-backwards that it is a ridiculous amount of DRM, rivaling even Ubisoft's notorious DRM shit.
I will say again, No one cares about the entertainment, or the lack of games showcased. The console itself is just plain rubbish.
@knyght1008 Quite frankly, I had not problem with the monthly fee because the 360 did online gaming better than any other console.
This new crap they are pulling only impedes that fee more, and I would be surprised if the monthly payment didn't go up. I'm switching to the PS4 this generation, but only because of the ridiculous DRM they are imposing on EVERYTHING,
@davidsor Yes, you have to think of the future, but to push that future onto consumers before the available technology is capable of handling it is just idiocy. I think in the future, we will expand past planet Earth, so I guess I should start my rocketship business up now, huh?
@DarkNeoBahamut But Microsoft will defend that by saying that the CONSOLE doesn't require always online, just the GAMES that they are more or less forcing to develop that way.
@Ariost That's the thing, if the games are developed the way M$ is pushing, you won't be able to play them, effectively making their previous statement of not being always online, an outright lie.
