Totally agree with this poster I mean look at nitendo they dont even make GOTY games anymore :lol:Gh0st_Of_0nyx
Doesn't Mario Galaxy count?
Cows and Lemmings are right. Nintendo got it all wrong with the new controller and new game styles, as well as some old styles that were supposedly death, like platforming.LordQuorthon
Nintendo did the right thing making a new controller since having the same old one will get boring after a while. The 360 and PS3 controllers are the same like last gen just being wireless. As for old styles of gameplay, there are still fans old enough to appreciate those styles of gameplay from their youth.
What the gaming world really needs is an endless flood of first person shooters that look, play and feel exactly the same. The harder it is to differentiate one from another, the better. And if they're all based on World War II, that's even better.LordQuorthon
We don't need an endless supply of FPS. We need variety of generes.
Oh, and better graphics.LordQuorthon
Who cares for excellent graphics?! Gameplay is the selling point of games. Not EVERYONE cares for grapichs as I sure don't and there are others out there that feel the same. Graphics can sell a game to a certain degree, but it's the GAMEPLAY that sells the game.
I think the term "hardcore" for gaming has be so twisted that the "true" definition of the term has been lost to what it truely means. To me, a "hardcore" gamers is the following:
someone who can loose themselves in a game where they can get carpel tunnel syndrome (it's happened to all of us to a certain degree, right?)
someone who has insanely fast reflexes honed from playing games too much
someone who can beat any game on the max difficulty WHILE taking LITTLE or NO damage
someone who knows all the secrets to any given game and the cheat codes by heart
There's probably more but that's all I can come up with at this time.
Cooking Mama sold like crap there, actually the only place it didn't sell like crap is in Europe (which it sold ridiculously well in). Also fighting games don't sell on the consoles and all RPG's that aren't the Square-Enix 3 sell piss poor.Pretty much anything that isn't by Nintendo or say Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, or Final Fantasy on it doesn't sell to well. This is mostly due to the core gaming market being near dead in Japan.Gunraidan
I didn't know that, and thanks for the correction. I guess I must have gotten my sources wrong.
From what I can gather the initial online (being able to play against friends and strangers) is still free. The extra content has the fee.
I'm not sure if that's correct and it's very unlikely that Nintento will make past Wii owners pay for the former just like those who downloaded the internet channel before it had a fee.
[QUOTE="Action_Player"]Agreed, since if one of the two HD consoles goes under, it will be disasterous for that one. Even if it's difficult to program on the Wii, it can be done (even if it's done horribly) and WILL IMPROVE OVER TIME given the chance. It can take up to a year or more to make a "good" game for a console and that's why we see so few 1st party games from Nintendo.Abriael
I guess you mean third party games. Because Nintendo produces an AWFUL lot of games for their consoles (for sure more than their competition) and is actually hogging sales.
Hmm, I don't seem to see the vast number of 1st party Nintendo games since I don't seem to keep track of them, but I don't see many 1st party games (or any made by the company of each console) on any of the others. Please, do correct me if I'm wrong.
Reason why you don't see many 3rd party games on the Wii (or better, the reason why they sell awfully) is that Nintendo scattered the target, moving the mass of it quite far from the "normal" gamer, the one that would buy the games that normally are made by third parties. The 40 years old manager that uses the wii fit won't buy a final fantasy or a gears of war even if forced to, same for the mom of the 5 years old kid that goes around the shelves looking for a "safe" game for her beloved to play. "gamers" in the true meaning of the term are a minority in the wii's installed base, and 3rd party software houses are, for now, well aware of that.Abriael
I've bought some 3rd party games for the Wii that got horrible reviews and I've enjoyed every minute of them. We all have different tastes and there are some genres that others are not fans of. I'm not a huge fan of RPGs and there are only a scant few I've played and enjoyed since I'm not one to buy a second console when one is enough for me. Sure, I have enough for the other consoles, but I'm not interested in them.
But for sure if one of the HD consoles were to go under, the enormous installed base of the wii would become more and more tempting even for software houses that normally program on both PS3 and 360Abriael
I've never really thought of that, but then again, I don't like to argue with people. I just like to post what I think is right and try to back it up with well typed posts for each rebuttal I get.
