^I'm curious, are you a video editor or something?
I can think of a few examples from FFX when that crossfade technique was used but I never even gave it a second thought when it happened. I'm just thinking people wouldn't really be bugged by that sort of thing in a videogame cutscene unless you have a job editing media for a living.

You say a lot of people complain about the crossfades but in all my time discussing FFX this is the first I've ever heard someone complain about it (and trust me, I've talked about the game a lot). I just did a google search for "Final Fantasy X crossfade" and nothing relevant even came up. If it was a common complaint then wouldn't I see reviews/message board posts talking about it?

JML897

No it's in google but you have to go a few pages. The reason is that there is a band called crossfade and a lot of people use their songs over random youtube videos of romance or action, or even plathrough of final fantasy X for whatever reason i do not know and it makes no sense. And there is a LOT of them and a lot of people using link tricks to get mutliple urls that go to the same videos.

It's a common complaint, and thinking they would post something they dislike in a FFX fan message board makes no sense to me why would they do that?  I will admit it's not the number one reason people dislike the game, I would say it';s just under as common as the complaints for blitzball.

The Xbox 360 has the best lineup this year to take down enemy soldiers:

Kinect Sports 3

Crimsom Dragon

Which will come with a mini comic book series.

That is 9 exclusives coming out this year and i have not even put in the XBLA titles in yet.

I'd lack a 3DO to even experience it in such a manner. :P I need to give Flashback a fair shake and see, chances are it may be my last title for the platform for a while though. Right now I'm rather hellbent on tying up loose ends on the Dreamcast. Seems like a few DC titles have been going up in price.

try playing Samurai Shodown on the 3DO ,looks and runs well , but the d-pad does hurt the game, though its still very playable. that and the sound is muffled.

I heard Goldstar didn't have that issue?

[QUOTE="GreySeal9"]

VII and X are highly revered and almost always place very high on lists of the top FF games, but they definitely get their fair share of hate as well. VII gets attacked for being overrated and not aging as well as other games in the series while FFX gets attacked for Tidus (for the life of me, I don't understand why Tidus bothers people so much; Squall is much worse since he is actually a jerk whereas Tidus's negative qualities are limited to being annoying), its linearity, character designs, and some elements in the story.

I personally think most of the FFX hate is dumb, but it's definitely there, even if the game is highly revered overall. I also think it's pretty daft to hate on FFVII because it didn't age as well as FFIX or FFVI or because of its massive hype.

Actually, most video game hate aimed at well made games is pretty stupid. Not to say that FFX and FFVII should be above criticism or that everybody has to like them, but people seem to take things they disliked about the games and blow them out of proportion. I mean, I've heard people claim that Tidus or FFVII's ugly character models ruined the entire game for them, which is just absolute nonsense IMO.

GreySeal9

BTW, I read y our X-2 review which i guess means you finished playing it. I am toward the end I believe in chapter IV, and I generally agree with a lot of your review with a few disagreements, although the main difference is that I think both X and X-2's story are tied they are both equally random inconsistent, and the crossfades are ridiculous.

I did finish it.

I think X's story has a few problems, but overall I loved it to death whereas the FFX-2's story never really clicked at all. It was just kind of there.

What do you mean by crossfades?

Crossfades is a video editing tachnique. Where what you would usually do is have a scene fade out while another seen is fading in at a completely differnt location or setting, or at a different gorup of people fading in, while the scene that it's tranfering from is fading out at the same time and then you bla the bla.

Here is an example, at .10 it shows an example of crossfading: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1f4EJhSJy4

The issue with X and X-2, which actually a lot of people find annoying, is that a large chunk of scen to scene transitions use crossfading, but the main issue with that is it's not scene to scene.

You have Titus for example in a scene where he is running toward something, it would crossfade to him back to the same thing of him running toward something then crossfade again for no reason of him doing the same thing and it's incredibly weaird and makes no sense.

Let me see if I can find an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XbCSvBOgDI&list=PLD663E62FBE808933

I found this at a fan site, 7:09 is an example, and it become more random as you go through the game where it will zom up to peoples faces and crossfade to the same persons face, or will rotate around secenary and crossfade to pretty much the same scenery rotating but maybe one centimeter to the right instead of just watching it rotate  the whole time. Or when there is action going on, and this is all scenes not just the CGi, they will do continous crossfades to the same people around them for no reason whatsoever and it's really really bad.

Well with the few games Sony has, those alone lose them money, they need to close studios so they can actually make good exclusives so they can at some point have a decent amount.

Edit: Alright, I just realized I posted this in the wrong section. It was meant for the Off Topic board. For that, I apologize. However, this is a good opportunity for PC gaming neckbeards to possibly reevauluate their lives and try to better themselves. Seeing as it's here and we can't get rid of it, we might as well talk and hopefully convert some butthurt, PC gaming basement-dwellers to decent human beings.

  • Every 9 seconds in the US a woman is assaulted or beaten.
  • Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family.
  • Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to womenmore than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined.
  • Studies suggest that up to 10 million children witness some form of domestic violence annually.
  • Nearly 1 in 5 teenage girls who have been in a relationship said a boyfriend threatened violence or self-harm if presented with a breakup.
  • Everyday in the US, more than three women are murdered by their husbands or boyfriends.
  • Ninety-two percent of women surveyed listed reducing domestic violence and sexual assault as their top concern.
  • Domestic violence victims lose nearly 8 million days of paid work per year in the US alonethe equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs.
  • Based on reports from 10 countries, between 55 percent and 95 percent of women who had been physically abused by their partners had never contacted non-governmental organizations, shelters, or the police for help.
  • The costs of intimate partner violence in the US alone exceed $5.8 billion per year: $4.1 billion are for direct medical and health care services, while productivity losses account for nearly $1.8 billion.
  • Men who as children witnessed their parents domestic violence were twice as likely to abuse their own wives than sons of nonviolent parents.

Keep in mind these are just for America alone, which is commonly believed by many to be the best country in the world. And even if it's not, it's still, at the very least, in the top 25/200. No one would dare go farther than that without looking like a complete idiot.

So, what are you guys doing to help?

Drasonak

2.This is still being studied.

3.Old, car accidents kill more women and women are the primary lead in car accidents.

5.More men are killed or have someone assult them by a girl because they broke up with the female than the other way around now.

6.Immigrants. Locally more men are threatened by women who either think they are cheating or break up with them,

8.If that was true the job market would have opened more hours in cap yet it decreases in all categories?

10.This has not been proven and is complete crap, most down beat parents are women who get pregnant early not ready to have a kid, and most drug abused kid to parent relationships involve females.

Thread is full of error.

[QUOTE="Darkman2007"]

by coincedence , I just sold Flashback on the 3DO , just couldn't get into it, just like I couldn't get into Another World.

its a quality game though , can't deny that

Darkman2007

Funny the little coincidences that pop up here. :P I was actually looking at Another World on SCD (called Heart of the Alien, it contains a debatable sequel) at one point but just settled on Flashback.

if you like Flashback you will probably like Another World, similar games obviously. just don't get them on the 3DO , the 3DO d-pad made the controls in Flashback feel.....clumsy, but a better lack of the term.

Sadly it's the best graphical version of the game so you might have to get it on 3DO anyway.

Also it's a hit or miss series. It's an art game that tries to have realistic motions and animations so if you don't like those type of games I can see why you sold it.  It is technically impressive3 though I will give it that.
