It's not just about exclusives that make a console successful it's other factors as well remember.... porting it to the 360 seems relatively easy and would make sense. a higher game attach ratio, more mass market appeal. no Doubt PS3 has some good exclusives too. I would love to have MGS4 on xboxc 360 but that one game alone is not enough for me to shell out for a console I know I can also get games on for the 360. A good exaple of a exclusive is of course Halo 3- it tops the xbox live charts and has had a devout following for years now- still very fun to play -as long as you don't play it to death. I'm sure some PS3 fanboys secretly wished it would appear on the PS3. The trend is once again if you want your gaming needs satisfied get a Xbox360- Has a good proven track of support , games, affordability , still fairly decent running games, an online community second to none, backed by Microsoft that is commited- (Microsoft still makes efforts in the traditionally Xbox opposing territory of japan) Microsoft doesn't break it's promises as often as Sony and hardware hype. Xbox360 is like a meal you have every day- affordable, consistant, PS3- is like fine dining, you have to wait , pay a premuim and content is not often. Wii- well ... I don't know what to say- I think Nintendo is doing very well catering to the casual gaming market- Obviously not to alot of the members of this forum, but introducing gaming to people who are not familiar or wouldn't really give video games a second thought i.e Girls, Elderly nothing really fitting the typical 17-34 demographic of gamers. I think Nintendo really contributes to the video game market and it's quite obvious when you think about it. I think if Sony was to blow my socks of they should really have come out with a more powerful machine as even though the PS3 is more "powerful" it is not powerful enough, becauese it's not designed well enough for it to really differentiate multi platform games between Xbox360 and PS3 such as Fallout3, Farcy2 and other tiles. Thnk about it. We got games that are should be way ahead on the PS3 because , but right now were squinting our eyes over framerates, lighting and shadows, colour over an inferiror Xbox360 version of the same game???? Really what's so amazing about the PS3?? who is it trying to apeal to? last generation Sony had the PS2 with an astronnmical 100 million user base. Where are they now for the PS3 - I definately didn't feel converted to get a PS3??? seems like most people are content with last generations inferrior hardware. Nintendo's Wii is only a little more powerful then the original Xbox, but it has other things going for it and it's kicking ass. -casual fun games, fun innovative controls(don't anyone deny this because it's true or Sony would not have had that debacle on PS3's early console life span to copy it with the six-axis controller) I guess we all have to wait and see next year- but my money is on MicrosoftXbox360 to keep supporting their machine, with games, improving their online support and actually bring it out at a reasonable time!, working hard to secure exclusives- but I guess if you were in Sony's camp it's the "just wait..........." approach

good chance some mutliplat games would look better on the PS3 I'm sure of it- It seems like a premium kind of machine, but this is also about other factors too-like online support, mass market support, friends who already have the copies of the games to play with, when the games are available on which consoles the game is developed to first, downloadable content, how easy it is for developers to program the games for the respective consoles. admit it Microsoft have made a very good general approach to the platform- Xbox-live- Windows Live- Xbox live to support arcade games and amatuer developers hoping to publish their games for the mainstream, netflix (which given time shopuld improve) Microsoft are attempting to resolve the RROD issue with the new Jasper hardware -albeit 3 years later! making efforts to secure or share once formally exclusive games- Final Fantasy, Tekken. The consoles is more accessible to the general masses with a lower price point a bigger game library Are there any xbox360 fanboys here who can bring up the most current uptodate game attach ratio figures? (last time I checked it looked pretty good) a lot of people who bought a Xbox 360 bought a lot of games to go with it.

Hey,

I've just finished setting up my whole network completely wirelessly and use the internet via wireless usb.

the problem is I can not get the xbox to connect to Live.

I'm thinking of just connecting a straight ethernet cable directly to one of the ports on my wireless router.

Should I have gotten a wireless modem/router instead?

Now that I think of it that might do the trick.

I failed networking school so has any one had any success with mobile broadband?

I have to admit my glee has a bit of a chink in the armour as from my understanding integrated graphics cards can not be upgraded.

I'm wandering exactly what can you upgrade on a laptop that's important for games.

I may have to Call HP about what I can install. I'm confident the computer can play games for the following year,, but now I'm paranoid that I spent so much money that I wont get any decent performance out of games that will comes out in two years.

Any one own a laptop and have they managed to upgrade theirs?

No.

This is definately not spam.

( I saved up so many months and paychecks to get this laptop)

I'm proud of my purchase I'll post some shots of the games running.

I would have gotten Alienware, but I'm not a hardcore pc gamer and I prefer this laptop because of it's other functions that in my opinion tops Alienwares offers. The large screen, harddrive, remote control and media center, blu ray and other stuff

I notice the big difference when playing certain games on my laptop and my xbox360 (I still love my 360) I though playing my Command and conquer 3 Kane on the 1080p monitor looked good, but compared to running Company of Heroes on the laptop- I can definately zoom in more where i can actually make out the eyes, mouths and animations such as trees and actua leaves swaying. Maybe this is just the games but I know understand why some PC players sort of seem snooty to console gamers.

The funny thing is I prefer to play on consoles.

When the BIG ttiles come out I'm definately playing in on the Laptop instead - RTS games StarCraft2, Crysis, Mass Effect

I'm definately a big fan of certain genres on PC's now.

I just bough this baby over the weekend and am busy optimising it-

removing unwanted software and services.

freeing up as much ram as possible,

I don't actually play games on P.C. only my Xbox360, but so far I have been really impressed running some demos on max setting s like Company of Heroes, Fear and Unreal 2005 for this laptop

I chose to go with a laptop instead of a desktop because of my line of work, conveniance and mobility- though with this laptop it does tip the scale to a near small desktop replacement for it's size

The HP HDX9313 "Dragon"

CPU : Intel Core 2 Extrem X9000 2.8GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 6MB L2 cache
CHIPSET : Intel 965PM
MEM : 4096MB DDR2 Mem, 2 DIMM's (Max upto 4GB)
HDD : 640GB (2x 320GB) 5,400 rpm hard disk drive
OPTICAL : Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer
DISPLAY : 20.1" WSXGA+ High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Widescreen
display (1680 x 1050 Res)- ( I wanted the WUXGA 1900*1200 display but they ran out of that model-may need to get it upgraded if possible when I contact HP
POWER : 9-cell Li-ion battery
AUDIO : Altec Lansing speakers (4 Panel Mounted & 1 HP Triple Bass
Reflex Subwoofer supporting upto 7.1 Ext speaker config)
GRAPHICS : NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTS with 512MB GDDR3 dedicated, upto
2303MB total graphics Mem with 4096MB system Mem
NTWK : Intel PRO/W'less 802.11a/g/n; Bluetooth
Intg 10/100/1000 Gigabit LAN
PORTS : 4 USB 2.0, VGA, HDMI, eSATA, IEEE 1394, RJ-45, 2 Stereo
Headphone jacks, 1 Mic jack, Consumer IR, S-Video Output,
AC Adaptor ; EXT SPKR PORTS - Side, Rear, Centre/Sub, Front
EXP SLOTS: ExpressCard/54 slot (supports both 34 & 54 form factors)
MEDIA : Intg 5-in-1 digital Mem eader slot (xD, SD, MMC, Mem Stick,
Mem Stick PRO)
WEBCAM : HP Pavilion webcam with Intg Mic
TV RUNNER: Intg HP Digital + Analogue Hybrid TV tuner
OS : Win Vista Ultimate
DIM : 475 x 339.5 x 58.5 mm ; WEIGHT : from 7.05 kg

* I have a 1900*1200 full 1080p second monitor if that will make a difference, But I prefer to use the laptop screen as the main monitor.

What else do you guys suggest I can do to get the most out of this. I don't know If I can upgrade the Ram, GPU or other essential for this machine and external things like drives, external harddrives, and all are out of the question.

any body here have a simliar spec laptop and is running games like Crysis, Prey Call of Duty 4 - what do you think?
