[QUOTE="themajormayor"]I've already seen proof for that but never that the PS3incurred huge losses.Stevo_the_gamer
You haven't seen links that showed the PS3 wipe out the entire PS2 profits, how it took more than 4 years for Sony to start making money on the PS3, and the huge initial loss from the years? Ah, you started posting in 2011, I see.you're a smart guy Stevo......why would you ignore what the PS3 did for Sony as a whole? It basically won them the BluRay vs HDDVD war.......to them it was worth sacrificing market share this gen, for some royalties in the long run.
The success of PS2 put them in a position where they had to take advantage of....they had to take the risk....Everyone laughed when Sony said that the PS3 will sale 5mil with no games, and as System Wars loved to sing back then "The PS3 HAD NO GAMEz" along the way passing 5mil in sales..lol.
If Sony was just a Game Company, then it would've been stupid for them to release a system using a new expensive disc format for a $600 console. In there mind everything thing they add to their systems is to sell something else down the road for the whole company.....or at least the opportunity for sales for the rest of the company (Samsung whooped them TV Wise).
If Microsoft releases a new system that will use BluRay like the rumors suggest....well Sony will be making money off of that as well. Market share starts at zero each gen....if Sony releases the PS4 at the same time as the MS 720, then they will have a very good chance at reclaiming market share.
