The step from consoles to PC get smaller every generation. Console-gaming is dying, it is not many reasons left to bother with consoles:|

PC is not killing the consoles, they kill themselves

aroxx_ab

Conosles aren't dying they are just changing to "all in one" entertainment units. Unless laptops start becoming more powerful than consoles, consoles aren't going anywhere.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that the days of PS2's domination are long over, xbox and PS are pretty much equal now (except for Japan obviosuly). MS knows that Sony has the stronger first party support so they are taking the xbox one to the masses. Aslong as MS keeps the install base about the same as PS4 than publishers wont sacrifice all those sales just for exclusivety and we have already seen franchises like Metal Gear coming to the xbox. Bascially in the end both consoles will get pretty much the same games aside from a handfull of exclusives....so it just comes down to which console most of my friends are getting:P

I didn't even know they still existed...every country should train a special force of ninjas. There are only 2 left in the world now:o

"Japan's era of shoguns and samurai is long over, but the country does have one, or maybe two, surviving ninjas. Experts in the dark arts of espionage and silent assassination, ninjas passed skills from father to son - but today's say they will be the last."

"The ninjas will not be forgotten. But the once-feared secret assassins are now remembered chiefly through fictional characters in cartoons, movies and computer games, or as a tourist attractions."

Just something cool I just read, would love to see a real life Mammoth....really tiny chance of it happening though but it's crazy how they can just clone something from a single cell.

"The discovery of well-preserved woolly mammoth remains in eastern Siberia has raised distant hopes that the animal could be cloned.

A Russian-led team of international scientists found intact cells among remains including hair and bone marrow.

In theory, the animal - which died out between 10,000 and 4,000 years ago - could be recreated if living cells are discovered among the remains."

"All we need for cloning is one living cell, which means it can reproduce autonomously. Then it will be no problem for us to multiply them to tens of thousands cells," Semyon Grigoryev, a professor at North-East Federal University (NEFU), told Reuters.

Laboratory research is now said to be under way to determine whether there are living cells among the remains.

But Mr Grigoryev admitted the chances were slim.

[QUOTE="locopatho"]360 is a bit lacking in first party games. Halo, Gears and Forza are all spectacular tho, at or near the top of their respective genres. And of course being the console with the biggest and best library of 3rd party games helps things too :)GreySeal9

I know Forza is great (tho I don't like sims), but it seems weird to me that 360 gamers aren't starting to tire of them.

yeah because ppl only play exclusives in the real world right? The 360 is a 7 year old system, it has the biggest game library this gen and it's not like PS3 is getting anything special either.

Oh I understood it wrong, no, I wasn't saying we need a lot of games, just one or two quality WW2 FPSs every few years. As for FPSs in general, TPSs too, there's pretty much just one single title every two years that I enjoy a lot, no matter the theme, modern warfare is used in every FPS and TPS devs make these days, but the theme doesn't make the good or bad quality of the game, for that reason I never wanted more WW2 games, I want more WW2 quality games.DanielDust

Agreed...good modern warfare games are pretty rare now though. Nothing really surpassed CoD 4, BF3 is okay but it still feels too "consolized". I don't think we will see that high quality of a game until the next gen of consoles. Almost every developer is trying to cater to the console market and when your lead platform is a 6-7 year old hardware...you can't really expect much.

[QUOTE="DanielDust"]

Okay, did you also take into consideration the hundreds of modern shooters that range from behemoth to known, not to mention the, probably, thousands that are not popular, extremely small or F2P?

The technical limitations won't allow you to post all of them on an entire thread, it will be taken down before you manage to write all of them because it'll reach the limit allowed for posts.

Really, WWII shooters only have just 7 popular series, a few notable names and some other mediocre towards terrible titles? it's actually a lot worse than I wrote it seems, not the other way around, you're also posting quite a lot of games that were made exclusive to certain platforms (CoD mostly, you should have kept it simple, CoD 1, 2 and an expansion).

I did however, forgot to mention MoH, it together with BiA and CoD made WWII popular for a few years then disgusted people with its mediocrity (BiA and MoH, especially MoH).

DanielDust

Who cares about the quantity? BIA, CoD2, BF 1942, MoH AA are better than any modern shooter to come out (CoD4 comes close though)....and yes the sequels got old but with today's new tech, even a remake would be incredible.

Umm, it's the point of this thread?

You don't just thank the world because you have 1 game with the theme you want, that can give birth to a lot of great games, when a single theme gets thousands, just because that 1 games was of a higher quality.

Maybe you can, but I personally can't replay great, old, WW2 games, I can't even replay CoD 1 or 2 anymore and those were by far my favorite FPSs.

You're using it wrong, the word quantity, there is no quantity here and in terms of quality, entertainment of something isn't endless, not even the greatest books in history that you can pass off as world treasures can be "experienced" endlessly with the same excitement, games are even worse when it comes to that, especially for people that only replay games they though were outrageously good, even then, not more than 3 or 4 times (I'm that kind of person, I don't do "replays" almost at all).

No one is talking about replaying those games, that's why I want new WWII games or remakes with new engines...and quantity isn't a big deal as it's not like you ONLY play WWII games, atleast I didn't. I played the good ones that I have listed above and would enjoy some more quality ones and not play a medicore game just because it's in WWII.
