Not sure which one has the 448 core but I came across Galaxy 56NGH6HS4IVZ GeForce GTX 560 Ti comes with a free copy of BF3 lol....is this the newer version? And this 7850: link theres is like a $50 difference between the two.

ionusX

that a rev 1.0 560ti you look at the processor numbers. the new version has 448 the old one has 386

thanks...Guess its the 7850 than since the 448 is basically the same price. Any suggestion on which brand is good to get (if it even matters)? the VisionTek one above or GIGABYTE HD 7850 OC Edition or MSI R7850 Twin Frozr

I have the same card gtx 560ti which I bought recently and I am able to max out skyrim barely but I guess its due to my old processor, its a q6600 quad core 2.4 ghz (stock). I think bf3 is a lot more demanding and if you have a good prcoessor you might be able to max it but it would be around 30 to 40 max ,even thats optimistic thinking. I honestly don't have the game so I can't tell you exactly.

neo_87

Yeah i am thinking about getting an i5-2500K with it. Is there a big difference between the 560ti and a 7850?

I am building a PC for my brother and the most demanding game he wants to play is BF3, so taking that into consideration what would be the cheapest graphics card on the market that can run the game in 1080p with a consistent 40-50 fps and everything on max...including MAX AA, MAX AF and HBAO.

Well, You will need a GPU with more then 1gb of video memory, But the best bang for your buck will be a GTX 670 which plays BF3 at 90+ fps with Ultra settings with FXAA at 1080. But the lowest I would go would be a GTX 560ti (448) or GTX 570 or 7850/7870, which both will play BF3 mostly on ultra with FXAA with above 50 fps. But money that spent on those gpu's , you might as well fork over another $100 or so for a 670 because its over 60% faster then GTX then those $300 cards.

I can probably get a 560ti for $230 but can that completely max BF3 with high AA and HBAO?

You can find better deals online, like tigerdirect.ca and newegg. But a decent gaming laptop is going to be around $1300-2000 excluding taxes.

ionusX

you can find decent 15.6" laptops newegg has some ones with hd 7690M's. those will handle any game on low and many games on medium. less demanding games like unreal engine 3 or source engine games on maximum or darksiders 1or codmw3 on high

yeah the TC said good graphics though, so he probably doesn't wanna play on low.

I got an Alienware M11x R2 for really cheap...employee discount, and it has been great. I can play games like TF2, L4D, SC2, Borderlands etc on nearly high settings.

JC_Spot

On an 11" screen....

lol yeah it's not that bad...used it mainly at college (not my primary gaming machine) and I could hook it up to a tv via HDMI. Laptops can be a good compliment to your main PC/console.
