I got to do some Fallout last night!
I got ready to kick some death-claw-ass. Unfortunately I died again. Damn! I guess I just ain't good enough to face them yet. I loaded the game again and decided to go back to the Hub with the caravan and did so without any danger. What! I was really expecting some action on the escort mission. Anyway, I decided to travel by foot to Necropolis, the city of the dead. I have actually been in Necropolis before, I forgot to write that, and I eradicated all zombies I could find. Very easy with a shotgun and a lot of shells… I found that parts of the town were cut off, so this time I thought I could perhaps find some way around. What I found was not a way around but an "Invading super mutant" prowling around inside the first building. Well, why not try to kill something instead of GETTING killed? I walked around and spotted another one near the first one. I simply walked through the door. "Come here human!" I shot them down with my 15mm and my desert eagle. After reloading and searching the bodies they rose again! Again! As in "from the dead" …and killed me. A cool thing though was that as I went to Necropolis I encountered some rad-scorpions that made me level up. I chose the perk "more criticals" and I inflicted 2 critical hits on the mutants of 40 and 38 points of damage respectively. Wow! All that is gone now though. Load game. This time I decided to stay in the Boneyard and to find out more about the gang "the blades". After all, my last name is Blade…
I met a paranoid guy called Greg. He didn't tell me anything, though. Maybe it's about time I start building my "speech" skill up. I spoke to a few more "blades" but no one of any importance it seems. As I went on exploring I came across a library and inside, met a girl named Katja. When I asked her about the waterchip she didn't have anything to say except "Miles is working on some high-tech stuff". This girl didn't seem to be a part of any gang and she was really nice so I talked to her for a while and she actually offered to join me. Huh? Cool! Even with my speech skill. During the conversation she displayed a completely different view of the blades than the boss of the regulators had. She told me they weren't that bad and that if I chose my words correctly I could even get some of them to talk! Not with MY percentage in speech, honey. After she joined me I leveled up! I chose the perk "more criticals" again as it seemed effective. I also decided to build up my speech and lock-picking skills. Since I started I have been building up the skill for Energy weapons with one or two percent per level just to be ready when I get one of those babies! It's called strategy, man! Strategy! Uhm…Why Katja was mingling with the Followers Of The Apocalypse, I don't know. After picking her up we went around the library, that is the stronghold of the FOTA sect looking for books to read to boost my science and repair skill. I found nothing. What I DID find was a girl, the leader of the FOTA. This hot punk-rocker chick had a lot to say and we spoke for quite a while. She told me about the "Children of the cathedral" sect that has hospitals and preaches of peace, but she said that she is convinced that they are evil. Something about a guy called Morpheus and something about nightkin, coming and going through the backdoor of their Children's temple. Nightkin, eh? Interesting. I decided to get all the information I could, as I have now decided to take the COTC guys down!
As for other gaming, I finished another mission in Iran from the Team Sabre expansion. Only one to go now! Playing BHDTS I realized that the AI is horrible! In the mission where you mount the .50 Caliber and the Iranian pilot takes you to the big ship and slows down so you'll have time to thin out the defenses your team mates continuously stand in your line of fire. Fortunately, they don't die when you shoot them. Much worse than in the original campaign. The missions don't seem to hold together very well either and if you stray too much it's pretty much game over for you. This makes the expansion missions feel more linear. Still really cool to play though.
