from my blog (yes again, i hate these threads)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

  • Ive seen this asked over and over on this site, so since i own both, i decided to list a few. But to fully understand, you have to experience it for yourself. So take this list, find a friend with a 360, and see for yourself.

1- cross game chat -this is more than it sounds. not only can you chat accross different games, but you can seamlessly create a party while in game, and switch from friends only chat, to chatting with people online, all without leaving the game

2- Custom soundtracks- this is the most misunderstood by fanboys. This feature is built into every game, and is built on the LIVE software that MS created. Meaning when i play a custom soundtrack on 360 (whether its from the hard drive, pc, or MP3 player) the game music, and ONLY the game music, stops playing. This doesnt happen with PS3. On 360, it only plays the sound effects and ambient sounds in the game, allowing me to hear my song. PS3 just plays the music (only dev supported) over my game sound.

3-In game access to everything- this is another misunderstood feature. With 360, if im playing a game, and i want to.....say play netflix. i dont have to go to the dashboard first, all i do is press the guide button, and click netflix. It stops my game and immediately plays. Or if im playing........say mass effect, and i wanna play Jade Empire that i downloaded. Same thing, just press the guide, and scroll to downloaded games. Its is nowhere NEAR as easy on PS3

4- Trueskill Ranking system- I cant count how many times i was playing warhawk when i first got it, and got beat like a runaway slave until i got the hang of it. Imagine going to the gym to play basketball, and everyday you had to play against Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Shaq!! Trueskill tracks your accomplishments ingame, and matches you with people on your level, making sure every experience is fair, and fun.

5 Intergration- Kinda speaks for itself. Basically my friends list follows me through every game. im even notified if a friend is playing the same game as me, and allows me to join the right then, no lobbies, menus, or anything. I can also check my achievements, friends achievements, and the profiles of the last 40 people ive played online at anytime, whether im watching a movie, netflix, playing a game, or whatever.

6-Cross game invites- no matter what im doing, i can invite a player to my game with the press of a button. No need to type a message like on PS3. I can also record voice messages to send to anyone ingame.

7-Server based system- the myth going on is that LIVE doesnt have dedicated servers. While this is mostly true, what people fail to realize is that EVERYTHING Live related IS kept on servers, servers that MS maintains. My friends lists, achievements (even my achievement progress), games played, and even my LOCATION or MODE in the game is tracked and displayed to my friends. Meaning i can check my friends profile (ingame if i choose) and see what area hes cruising in GTA iv, or the score in madden or NFL nk9, or the mode, map, and score in Halo 3.

There are many more, but like i said, go experience it for yourself.

navyguy21

dude I have and play games on an xbox 360 and most of those are false or opinions or fail as all hell. Im sorry but there are only a couple of games that have dedicated servers, Gears 3, BC1 and BC2. thats it. The rest are all P2P matchmaking and some other form of matchmaking. In game access isnt really the live interface its more the console OS if you will, and custom soundtracks again, isnt a live thing i could play soundtracks when I firs got my xbox and didnt have live. The truth is your paying a premium for an online system that works for the most part, its moslty seemless. You are paying to not have your **** get hacked, there are actual moderators on games, and theres better security. The question is, how come Steam/PC has all of this and is free?

http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/29/gears-of-war-3-gets-30-season-pass-first-dlc-in-november/ The game isn't out and already 4 DLC are on the way,is impossible that this content wasn't strip from the disc, the same was done with LA Noire as well,is ok to talk about DLC when your game has 7 or 8 months, but months before release.? In my opinion things will get even better,as there would be tons of people who will bite for this, the more people support this crap the more common will get, there will be a point where half a game will release for $60 or $70 and the other half for the same amount.tormentos

Don't like it? then dont buy it. Its simple really. If its "waaaa coming out toooo sooon" then wait 7-8 months and then buy the **** People will jsut rage about everything. A season pass comes out that saves you money and people rage jeez.

What does this even mean?

OneSanitarium

That its clunky and hardly an RPG. Its more of a more slow paced hack and slash. Fable has more fluid combat. I will say the game can be terrifying though.

Is the combat mostly stat based? As in do you level up different attributes?

It's an RPG.

And fluidity has nothing to with what genre a game is.

Also going by your definition of RPG Call of duty is an RPG. The worlds first Multiplater FPS/RPG

I leveled my abilities and chaoseater, and applied sockets to my weapons in darksiders? is that game an RPG? No its not. Demons souls has the same level of depth its more of an action adventure game. You might get away with action/RPG but an actual RPG, not really. there isn't really ingame dice rolling. And its still clunky lol.

First post nailed it. Origin sucks right now because it's a barebones service compared to feature-filled fan-favorite clients like Steam.

topgunmv

What features? Steam isn't all that good. Do you see any Blizzard games on Steam? Do you see anyone badmouthing Battle.net?

Actually I launch starcraft2 through steam. Steam is basically a free xbox live but better.

That really isnt the issue, the issue is only being able to purchase EA games on Origin, other select Digital ditribution. Noone complains about blizzards games only being available on their store so why all the rage for EA Origin. I think its partly Bias and partly fear of EA.

[QUOTE="AkimboBFGNinja"]Origin has already been around for a bit It was called Ea Online Store but they just renamed and updated it. Lets say in a year or two Origin gets bigger and is like steam? Would it matter then or is it simply just a matter of prefference and the whole "EA is the Devil " factor going on.lundy86_4

It'll no doubt matter in the near future. EA will pump it full of money, as it'll make them a boatload in return (they are their own distribution, thus will net all profit). Unfortunately, it segregates the market, and EA is a big publiser... Origin is gonna house a lot of games. I hope that EA and Valve get this whole debacle ironed out, so that the games will still be offered through Steam.

Also if I am not mistaken EA games will still be offered on Gamers gate and D2D, if this is true why not have it on steam? Not sure what is going down but I recently came across an articel on another site.
