PC upgrades would tempt me, the problem is I really just need a whole new system. My laptop can pretty much only handle indie releases, but there have been so many of such high quality that it doesn't feel as dated as you'd think. Wouldn't turn a gaming pc down :p

In one week of sales - with change from £10 I have Driver San Fransisco, Dirt 3, and Humble Bundle 11.

More games than I could play through in months.

My set up - an original Xbox 360, 5 year old student laptop and a Wii.

The only new hardware I can see myself buying is a PS3.

I'm not against new hardware in principle, but I am becoming far too accustomed to purchasing all my games for £5 or under. Never mind which has the better resolution or which has better DRM policies. I wouldn't mind playing something like Titanfall but I can't see myself spending £40 to buy it new, and probably another £20 on DLC. I would upgrade my wii to a wii u, but my wii already plays windwaker; and nintendo games are too expensive for far too long.

Maybe I'm a cheapskate, but i just can't see how anyone could justify the spend.

I've been at uni studying medicine and haven't had my xbox with me getting by on steam and android games.

Any game reccomendations that aren't in the "top games of the last 12 months section"?
i intend on getting Mass Effect 3 first but from there on who knows.

From snooping around on techradar this seems like a good monitor, it also made me lean further towards IPS. VGA for xbox 360 and DVI for laptop.

With an old fat 360, the new official vga cable will be fine right?

One of the comments says that without the optical outputs sound is an issue. Will this be true if i am using computer speakers? my speakers have 3.5mm headphone jack in the back of them so I think they should be fine.

[QUOTE="AlCapwnUK"]

I am moving to a flat with a bigger desk and I am considering getting an additional monitor both for dual screen use with my laptop and also to play my 360 on. I have 2.1 computer speakers too which I would like to use, how easy is this?
Here are two monitors i was considering (i have no brand loyalty these are just LG by chance)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-E2251VR-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/tech-data/B0060LCBTG/ref=de_a_smtd

http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-IPS225V-Advanced-Performance-Widescreen/dp/tech-data/B0060LCBRI/ref=de_a_smtd

Also is there any advantage to using IPS over standard TP monitors?

I also have these speakers (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Audioengine-multimedia-speakers-Total-high-gloss/dp/B000VKEFMS/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1334245676&sr=1-1), how easy will it be to get these to run with my hdmi xbox 360 as well as my laptop.

Monitors will provide you with a better - lag free- gaming panel than most TV's out there, so you're good in that respect.

IPS vs TN - well the price tag is difference number one, specially after you go above 22" or so. IPS will give excellent color, contrast ratio and viewing angles. TN will give you better response times typically so almost 0 input lag.

I would go with a TN panel and save yourself some bucks, unless you pla on using the monitor to do graphics design, or viewing angles/image quality are otherwise very important to you.

I'm running a 27" IPS panel, but I do a lot of graphics and programming on my PC (as well as gaming) so I really needed the extra desktop space (2560x1440 vs 1080p), as well the superior image quality.

90% of gamers out there will be fine with a TN panel though.

Ok well my work isn't really graphics based so it sounds like I should be fine with the TN panel, with regards to the speakers is this an easy set-up?

no, as those "smart people" tend to lack common sense and stuff.

everything balances out...I wont sit here and pretend to be booksmart and have technical knowledge of an engineer or doctor.

but I imagine if the stock market crashed tomarow and we had to essentially fend for ourselves, I would be more hireable than either of them

mrbojangles25

The stock market did crash...and doctors and engineers did fine. When would you not need healthcare? (NHS ftw)

VIVA PINATA, if she likes Farm Ville you are sorted.

Virtua Tennis also seems to be a bit of a hit.

If she's competitive Rock Band, Halo 3 etc.
