maybe one of you guys can ask on Ask Gamespot. Anyways this site is for people 13 and over right?, well suppose there was a video game to come out with ultra levels of violence and sex (and that's what the game was all about, so there would be no way to show other pics of gameplay) and suppose it became popular, would cnet allow GS to cover the game in anyway? or would they pixelate vids and pics of the game?
And since this thread isn't really about games and more aboutthe site I posted here.

The general way to handle it on any videogame media site is to put what they call an "Age Gate" in front of the video where you have to put in your age to verify that you're old enough to watch the video. It's a completely useless step in preventing kids from seeing the content but it's A-OK legally. That's like porn sites that are legally obligated to put that "Are you 18?" entrance link. Yeah, like kids are going to say:
"Sweet, porn!! Oh man, I'm not 18, I guess I should click the 'I'm not 18 link"
[QUOTE="best-gam3r"]Ign and Gametrailers. But unfortunately there is no message board as epic as gamespot's OT... as far as i know.greenghost123
IGN is just as bad, they give out 9 and 10's to easily. But I've seen a couple of revies for gametrailers, and their reviews are EXCELLENT, but unfortuanatley almost all sites (not just games) are vastly inferior to GS's.
I will give props to GameTrailers even though they're technically a competitor, but not really since we do have a partnership to feature their entire video library on our site (they will be embedded soon on our pages as well). GameTrailers does have really good video reviews that are pretty reliable.
I was wondering if there are better sites out there than gamespot.com for videogames?
I know there are, I've just been to lazy to look for it.

I'll let these fine refugees speak for themselves: The GameSpot welcome thread on Gamer 2.0
Jes a great great guy, editor, reviewer and presenter. the fact he is being fired is hard enough. I don't believe those who say he's been on thin ice for a while, the fact he is such a fundamental part of the team makes it seem hard to believe they fired him for small things. All i can say, and this is not whining bu******, that if he was fired due to pressure from an outside party, then people will stop reading gamespot. Fact. Review integrity is such a core principle of Gamespot that with that gone, well it looks gloomy for Gamepot

Not if you keep posting here, there's still an ad at the top of this page ;-).
Journalistic integrity is all a publication has because without it they have no readers and without readers they have no eyeballs on ads which means no $. Ads are typically paid on a CPM basis which is Cost Per Thousand, an M representing thousand as a reference to the Roman numeral for 1,000. So for every 1,000 times an ad is loaded, GameSpot is paid a certain dollar amount.

No, I think he's stil a mod.
Thats good to hear, I know he was right here with us for a long time that night.
Lucas Stephens? I used to work with him back in the day. We used to be good friends but then he got addicted to FFXI, I thought he disappeared from the net for good.
Sup, man. Nice to see you around here. But yeah, hate FFXI. It was the bane of my existence. I probably would have been a mod much earlier if I didn't drop from the face of the net because of it. Anyway, I don't know what's going to happen to my mod powers. I haven't heard anything from administration either way, so...
And you still do the comic? Man Gamer 2.0 and Press Start should work together ;-)
