As a paid participant in porn films (not sure if that makes one a star or not...?), the money is the main factor, but often not the only one. The majority of porn actors and actresses love what they do. There are some that loathe themsleves, especially hetero actors that are doing gay porn just for the money (no surprise there?).
As always there is the STD concern, but the industry is way better today about making sure testing is done before a shoot, and everyone comes back clean.
As for the morality factor, there are any number of reasons why one could object, whether it be on the behalf of the performers or the potential audience, but voyeuristic entertainment has been around for thousands of years, and if approached and viewed in a mentally mature and well adjusted capacity, surely is not harmful. My involvement in such activities has only positively affected me, I am sure.
Exploitation within the industry is another factor, but once again, less so today as it used to be. Drugs for Action is what I am alluding to, mainly.
All in all, in today's postmodern age, the only thing wrong with it is that you are not enjoying it openly, and with your bf/gf/spouse, or making some of your own amateur stuff too, and sharing it with the world.
